Not sure if his other german neighbours like him, but I'm defintely glad hear his GT500 every day.
For those that are not aware, the top speed is electronically limited on this car. That's why it gets to 182 so quickly and abruptly stops. Ford decided to take the R&D money that would have been used to develop 200+ MPH aerodynamics and invest it into other areas of the car.
Let’s be honest though, do you need 200mph? 182 is fast enough. It’s got the acceleration which is the fun part in my opinion. The 14’ gt500 could hit 200 and it wasn’t nearly as fun as this car.
Exactly. You can tell by the speedometer and the tachometer that there is a governor of sorts that limits the speed. The speed is still rising pretty quickly getting to 182, and the tachometer is still under 6,000 RPMs. Lord only knows what the actual speed it could climb to if allowed. My guess would be around 200 mph at least.
@@wxrd_ I would imagine there is, but it would take someone a whole lot smarter than me. They would have to know exactly where the electronic limit switch is, and how to bypass it. I think almost every car made in the U.S. has a governor that limits the speed you can go. That governor has only ticked up in the speed allowed in the last few years. My truck will only go 95 before it shuts it down. I had an Explorer than didn't shut down 'til 105.
Beast I would imagine with 760 hp that the top speed is restricted should be able to sail well beyond 182 mph, the rate at which the speedo rises is astonishing 👍
Last December we moved back to Florida along with our 13 GT500. I miss driving in Germany. Our GT500 has no speed restriction, so I hit over 200 MPH about 10-12 times in 6+ years. On average, when I could my speed was between 130 and 150 MPH. That seemed to be the happy zone that didn't burn that much gas.
This is very funny because this is the exact same situation for me. We bought the ‘13 Shelby brand new in 2012 and had it shipped to Germany where we lived at the time. And then in 2017 we moved back to Florida and also shipped our car back with us. But driving on the Autobahn was an incredible experience.

Well, Car and Driver did a comparison on the GT500 vs Camaro ZL1/1LE and found that the GT500 was close to 5 seconds faster from 0-150mph than the Camaro. Some if that loss is from the Camaros larger wing.
Well, the GT500 was about 1 second ahead at the 1/4 mile so over 3 of those 4 plus seconds to 150mph was lost after that. The Camaro is down 110 hp but I'm sure that wing is holding it back considerably after 100 -110 mph.

But when going top speed in a bmw m4 or m8, the speedometer might say 170 mph when in reality it's 160 mph. It's off by a % and not by 2 or 3 mph. I know this from the v10 m5 and m6.
