If a woman has children marriage gives her most protection … without prenup she can claim half of what the man earned (if she didn’t work, or worked less, to raise the children). An unmarried woman is in a much more precarious situation when the couple splits up … But I agree, coupling up & having children is a huge gamble … Especially the having children part, because that makes women very, very vulnerable

My old therapist said two days after my birthday I might add that at 29 it’s normal to be married and have kids I live with my mom never had a boyfriend and probably will live with my mom until she passes because we are like best friends and I got companionship from her so with that being said and the fact that guys were so rude to me this how I live I don’t want children because I was bullied for twelve years in school and there was a guy who I liked and he completely terrorized me he’s married now with two kids but not before back in 2018 he bothered me again! It’s the way he went about bothering me until he found the real person he wanted so someone like me who wouldn’t hurt a fly and because I live with my mom and my cat according to the therapist I’m not normal but that guy is because he is married with kids even though he terrorized so many women that bitch ain’t my therapist anymore

I understand where your therapist is coming from, it’s not good to just depend on your mom always like that because when she does you be lost and it will likely lead to a deep depression. While have a close relationship with mom is great it’s also great to have a good system outside of your mom and cat.

As a woman, I would only get married if I wanted children. I would want to legalize them and have the same last name as my husband and children. I would never have kids out of wedlock. I know billions of women give their bodies up for free to do it, especially in the BC, but carrying before marrying is just not for me. However, since no babies will ever come out of my body, marriage is unnecessary in my life. Thank God!!!

The list of things the lawyer said, I had no idea marriage does that, and the fact that many people find out the first time in his office is scary... who's the lawyer? I'd like to learn more about how marriage contract works. The fact that so many divorces happens, it makes me question marriage sometimes. The only pro is combining salary incomes, but then there's all these stuff the lawyer said that I have no idea what that is, seems like a long list of cons.
Had a friend whose husband cheated with several women - in her house while she was at work - and now, in the divorce she will have to give him half of her retirement check every month when they get older.

My top 5 values are: peace, freedom, autonomy, security, and alone time. Compromising a fraction of these is too expensive. When you said the part about I don't want to explain myself to nobody. I felt that. As a man am not interested in having a second mother. I can function quite well on my own. I also am not interested in some "ride or die" narrative. If you are a pain in my @ss then I need to let you go. It was fun while it lasted. Even what the divorce lawyer was saying. That none of this is explained to anyone and it definitely was not explained to me.
I also loved that part when you said "the red flags are right there yet we still want to romanticize it" How many times do we need to collectively get burned before we realize that this is failed technology. But then when you mention it people get all worked up in their feelings.

In countries like Tanzania, you gain NOTHING when you get married. Unlike other countries like UK tax reduction, dual citizenship etc you gain absolutely nothing. It’s just signing away your autonomy and single-hood title and getting a divorce is very difficult because it’s expensive and so many people especially women end up trapped financially, physically, mentally and with many children ☹️. And there is no parental leave when the couple decides to have children shooker.

Yep, have been literally only seeing marriage as a contract for years. Read the fine print first lol. Never thought of it as actually romantic, and it's not just the historical heterosexuality that made it offputting/irelevant to me. I'm not interested in legally binding a woman to me, or me to her.
I live in Southern Europe and in my city everybody who gets married and is not a broke bum, first goes to a trusted lawyer to have the lawyer’s opinion on how to defend his/her own best interest in getting married. So they get legal help before getting married. That’s standard.
You know who does not do that? The foreign women these European men sometimes marry. They go to zero lawyer and they get short end of the stick.
I know of a foreign women who signed the marriage papers without even understanding the language and she signed she was ok with goods separation. Well she was not aware of what she signed.
I know a lot of stories like that.
Especially people think every country has the same marriage legislation while it’s really not the case.

I always believed that my life is more important than being in lifelong servitude to a man and have children that I don't want especially since I always hated kids since the age of 15 and I STILL do to this day!!!! Marriage and children are a big NO for me, and I'm glad that I didn't follow society's rules simply because I was born a female, and I'm also glad that I didn't fall for the okeydoke that any man tried to run on me!!!
