  • Radio recording of KOLA-FM San Bernardino from Monday, August 25, 2003 during the afternoon drive. The station has always been a hot competitor for the oldies format, having to compete with nearby KRTH "K-Earth" just down the road in Los Angeles.
If you are wondering why the old video died, it's because I've re-uploaded this aircheck with a version that has improved audio quality.

Yes , I miss the old Kola 99.9 FM when it used to play oldies from the 50s , 60s and early 70s. I listened to the station in 1993 until 2007 when it switched to hits from the 70s and 80s. Thank you for uploading this aircheck , it brings back pleasant memories.

I remember KOLA!! It's been such a long time. Every night I would lay on my cot in the desert under the stars and wonder what my HS friends were up to and if I made the right choice. You could hear the helicopters way off in the distance coming in and out and the damn radio that would never stop chattering. So many fond memories. Thank you.

Did this station ever play “The Joker Went Wild” by Brian Hyland or “Concrete and Clay” by Unit 4 plus 2? I remember hearing these songs when I was a kid but I think I heard them on another AM station that wasn’t this one..
