Thank you so much for this video! I graduate from DH school in a year and I’ve been thinking about temping but kept hearing mixed things from other hygienists. This video was VERY helpful and I think this is something I’ll definitely love.
I work in a dental office and I am in charge of getting the Temps in. I have heard horror stories from temps where they offered to work as an independent contractor rather than a through a temp agency... and they never got paid or they have been paid less than agreed. Be careful! Also, Kwikly dental is awesome for dental offices and hygineists from what I have experienced.
Just graduated last year. Was talking to my lecture and she suggested that I do the travel DH thing because this gives someone experience since one is working in different dental setups and one is paid in commission mostly
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve been researching extensively because I'm considering going back to school, and travel dentistry really intrigues me. I’m watching in 2024 and hope it’s still as exciting as ever 😀

I loved this video! You are very informative and fun! I graduated from dental hygiene in 2019 in MO. I've worked in public health the entire time but started temping on my day off to make some extra money. Once I finish up my loan repayment contract with HRSA I may switch to full time temping. It's definitely nice to have freedom over your schedule and a break from work if needed (even if it's a few days) because, girl you're not wrong about those body aches 😅 this job is a labor of love, that's for sure! Anyway, I just found your channel today and watched this video on my way to work haha. I'm excited to explore your content! 💜🦷
You are lovely by the way! Dental hygienist offer a very valuable highly skilled service. I practiced for about 10 years after leaving the field to tend to family problems with aging parents. I was also licensed in oral anesthesia here in Oregon. and I have a lot of dentist calling me asking me to come back to help.. I am older now.. early 50's. I am healthy and my kids are now grown so I think I am going to renew my license and temp a day or two a week. Your community needs you.. and we are true healthcare providers. As I am also a Functional Nutritional Medicine Practitioner.. digestion begins in the brain, next the mouth.. but your oral microbiome also affects your intestinal microbiome and I promise you.. everything is connected and yes.. your mouth can tell you a lot about the overall health of your other organs.
Yesss tajah girl thank you for making this video!! I just graduated from DH school and I take my last licensing exam this Wednesday and to get licensed I will be soon! I’ve thought about temping with Ondiem but I still wasn’t sure. You definitely helped me make up my mind ♥️

I work full time as an RDH but when I go back home to NYC (live in NYS) I pick up extra shifts to make more money and you get paid a lot more. I do like them last minute jobs that are willing to pay you $80 an hour. And I can say the only thing would be a 401 K with contributions and ssi etc. The healthcare aspect is not major because they usually have the worst plan with very high deductible so you’ll be paying for insurance and still getting a bill. I have a question for you, when you got registered In Atlanta, how was that process? I took my boards and I was able to choose 3 states, and I’ve tried getting licensed there but it’s so difficult to get in contact with board of professionals.
i’m about to be a new graduate registered nurse this August and girl I wish there was a freaking app we could just pick up shifts at random places because these traveling agencies are just not it
I work at a dental office and my dad was a dentist who passed a few years ago. I’ve been trying to get into the program for 3 years now. Way too many applicants to compete with. But I would like to add that there are local group pages where offices are asking for temps. It avoids the agency fees and the hygienist gets paid more than what the agency pays sometimes. The offices usually tell you how they schedule patients and if they use eaglesoft or dentrix. This way you have an idea what you’re getting into lol.
i did too for about 3-4 months after i finished my dental assistant program, felt stuck but i just applied to b in a hygienist program , manifesting i got in lol but just tryna inspire u to go for it!
I just love this I got a few more classes to finish and I’ll be apply for the program this spring to start in the fall I can wait, currently knocking out summer classes now!!!!
They’re starting to get paid more than nurses, they’re equivalent to pharmacist salaries. Especially here in NY. They might as well go for their doctoral
Hey sis 💖 I’m a nurse but I met a bomb temp dental hygienist during my dental cleaning appointment and she was getting paid $100 an hour I’m in NJ btw 😊
You can make a BIG coin working agency! I am an RN and they used to give us the worst loads cause we used to make the higher hourly rate vs. the staff Nurses! I had a goal, achieved it and now have returned to a company! Awesome 👏🏾 content and on point 🎯
Hey, Tajah my love, I enjoyed this video Because My dream is becoming a dental hygienist, and girl when I tell you I cant wait I can not wait, I believe that I can and girl. You've inspired me in so many ways throughout my life. You taught me the value of a strong work ethic and a positive attitude in the face of hardship. But, I was thinking of starting as an assistant and move up but, I'm still thinking (Tips please ? )
Omg!! As one of my career pathways, I'm interested/ considering becoming a dental hygienist post senior grad, and your detailed video delivered babeee.
This is a field I wanted to go into when I graduated HS but I didn’t want to wait on my schools wait list. So I went into something different. Now, 10 years later, and after 5 being a SAHM, I really want to do it. I’m trying to budget it all and hope my brain is smart enough for it 😂
I’m in this same position. I’ve been home with my kids for nearly 15 years, my youngest starts school next year and I want to go back to school for something that’s nearly guaranteed to find employment with both good pay and work hours that won’t interfere so bad with kids in school. Best of luck to you ❤

Hi Tajah! I absolutely love watching your videos. Your spirit and energy is so amazing to me, not to mention.. you are such a beautiful black woman. Continued blessing to you. Also, will you be getting hot cocoa and beige lipglosses back on your website?
This vid was very helpful and encouraging! My only concern with Temping would be job security, but it over-all sounds exciting! Sounds like everyday has a new challenge. Also seems like a quick way to pay off some loans. :P
Yesss thank you gurlllll !!!! Graduate next year and cannot wait to start this career! Thank you for being so informative and open about our career 🙌❤️
I loved this video. Thank you !!! My dream career since I was in high school was to always be a Dentist meaning go to dental medical school and complete my residency etc. However, I decided to not take the route because I honestly hated school and didn’t want to prolong me in staying in school. (At that moment I rather go to school for 4 year rather than 10+ years). Now the problem is Iv’e always knew about dental hygienist because I felt like it was some thing that would best suit me because dental hygienist isn’t going to school for too long compared to a dentist and I would still be in the dental field. I just graduated from college last year with my B.A. health administration and now I’m going through regrets because I knew that I wanted to become a dental hygienist but didn’t act on it and I don’t really know what to do now I kind of feel like it’s too late I should’ve have been a dental hygienist much sooner and I should’ve took all the prereqs while being a undergrad but didn’t. It’s a-lot of bad decisions I made ugh. 🥺😩
Hey girl! Thanks 🙏🏾. This video was very informative. I’m waiting to see if I’m accepted into the dental hygiene program coming this fall. I didn’t realize travel hygienist was a thing. It’s definitely something I would love to do. Love your videos. Keep up the great work ❤️
Thank you so much for pouring all of those information about temping Tajah! 💕You’re amazing! Love you and love your content. 🥰 So as a temp.. have you ever had one employee from any of those offices ask you how much is the doctor paying you? Because I feel some will do and it’s kind of uncomfortable to speak about it especially that you’re definitely getting more than they are. How do you answer professionally?
Watching your videos are so inspiring. I am 28 and currently looking into taking a new path into the dental hygiene field here in GA. I have a bachelor of science degree, so a few pre-reqs for the dental program are done. I’m just a little hesitant because I know once you enter the dental program, you won’t be able to work full-time and I personally have things I am responsible for so that’s a little scary. Plus, I’ve heard a lot of the fees in dental school are out of pocket. Does anyone have an idea of how the dental classes are structured? Are they 5 days a week or split within the week for certain hours throughout the day? Also, are there any people who live in GA doing pre-reqs for the program. I would love to here what schools you guys are in or planning to go to.
I live in Ga and I did the dental hygiene program at Darton State in Albany, Ga when I was 22 but didn't finish. (Failed clinic due to not being able to find enough patients to work on since i didnt know many people there) I'm 29 now but i remember classes were all day everyday the first 3 semesters. Like 8-5. Clinic itself was 3 hours. I think wed was the only day we were out at 1. There was no way to work full time. Even if you could it would be almost impossible to keep up in the program since there was always a test to study for, a project to complete, clinic exams and I also remember we had pop quizzes every single day over the material we discussed the day before so you had to be constantly studying. It consumes your life and it was one of the most stressful periods of my early 20's and i shed many tears. But I'm much older now and ive finally worked up the courage to do it again. I still love the field and it's what I've always wanted to be since I was a teen. I'm back in my home town of macon, ga and applying for the program again for next Summer semester at Central GA Tech. Had to retake science/math prerequisites again since they expire after 5 years and i have one more left. There were alot of expenses up front but technical college is much cheaper. The dental kit at my first school was $1900 but its only $800 at the school im at now. Books/uniforms are also cheaper. Sorry i know that was a long response but i hope that gives you some insight. Good luck to you!
@@faithpurcell5561 thank you so much for taking the time to give me your journey it is greatly appreciated and gives me great insight. Good luck to you as well!
@@faithpurcell5561 I graduated from CGTC in Warner Robins in 2014. I will say that they were very helpful as far as getting patients scheduled. I almost never had to find my own patient. Overall my teachers were great and they wanted you to do well. Hopefully, even thought they are different schools and different teachers the atmosphere and attitude will be the same. I have heard horror stories from other people that have went to other schools and how strict they were and the teachers were downright mean. Best of luck to you!
@@staceyjones1112 That's so good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience. I wouldn't say my teachers were mean at my old school but they weren't very helpful in helping me find patients and yes they were very strict. It was so disappointing to fail but also a relief because i was so depressed and stresed the whole time. I shouldnt have issues this time finding patients since all my family/friends live here. Super nervous but excited to give it another go
There's another question I think it's important Tajah being independent the office that you going to work to, is it privately owned? And more so is there a major difference between privately owned and non privately owned facilities as far as benefits and pay for those that are NOT traveling temps...

I too have met someone in the office doing my teeth lol 😅 telling me her experience of being a travel hygienist for 30+ years & she persuaded me into getting into this career because I had no idea what I wanted to do in life I was just stuck. But I’m glad that I came across this video💯
Needed this as I’m getting ready to start hygiene school in the Fall!!! Your videos are always so honest and helpful! I’m so grateful for you and your videos. You’re amazing! 💕
There are multiple temping agencies such as TempMee, Dental Dynamic Staffing, North American Dental Group, and Team Placement Services😊. I currently work North American Dental group and I’m a new grad🥰
I really enjoyed this video I’ll be going into my second semester of taking classes for dental hygiene in the fall . Only took 3 classes last semester got 2 B’s and a C . Getting that C Was Annoying but I’m proud of myself next time all A’s 😂
Make sure you keep track of your mileage and your work purchases (keep reciepts) so you can write those things off at the end of the year if you're getting a 1099.
Please please please make more hygiene vids! U really have motivated me to put all my fears aside and pursue a career in dental hygiene. I start my prerequisites in August!
I start mine in August too!!!
me too! good luck!
Hey Tajah, I just thought I’d let you know I’ve been watching you since you were in Fayetteville.. i used to live near the Greensboro area. But you really have grown so much!! You’ve inspired me to become a RDH! I currently work as a DA while taking prereqs but I hope to apply 2024! Can’t wait to see what your future holds!! Thank you again for the inspiration :)
I agree with Makayla: temping is like dating (check er’THANG out before committing)
Tajah I’ve been wanting to be a dental hygienist for sooooo long but I’ve been so afraid because I’ve had sooo many questions and always feel like I don’t have the answers anywhere but you have helped me so much! Please keep making these and I’m so thankful for your videos ❤️❤️❤️
You’ve gained a new subscriber!! I’ve been thinking about dental hygiene for so long and you really helped me get an overall view of what it would be like to be an rdh so thank you!
I have been following you for a while. I always wanted to be a dental hygienist. I did go to dental assistant school but now because for my love for the field and passion. I decided to go back to school for dental hygiene. I love your passion and drive to try new and different things that works for you. You inspire me to do my best and give me the push I need to get that money. 💵😝 You are an amazing, but you already know that. ❤️Thanks so much. Keep giving us great vlogs.🥰
You just gain a new follow! I love the transparency.
I graduated from the dental hygiene program last month. Thank you for inspiring me! So grateful for you! 💜💜
Congratulations!! 🎓
@@carolynp6386 Thank you!! 💜
Is the biology course intense or is pretty decent? I’m curious to know.
You are so focused and motivated and such a positive role model. The skies the limit.
Oral anesthesia? What did you do ? Crna work
I am a Licensed Dental Hygienist, CFMNP, DNH. Hygenist are licensed to give anesthesia in the mouth in Oregon. @@bigdank4541
So proud of you! Looking at how you transitioned from looking for a full time job and now doing a temp position
Yesss tajah girl thank you for making this video!! I just graduated from DH school and I take my last licensing exam this Wednesday and to get licensed I will be soon! I’ve thought about temping with Ondiem but I still wasn’t sure. You definitely helped me make up my mind ♥️
How was it? Im so scared
@@gyumorning0205 I took the computer simulated exam, which was one of the 4 licensing exams. I passed it, it wasn’t too bad but don’t underestimate it. It’s like a mini national boards exam.
This was great Tajah! Thank you for making this video and filling in the gap. I start hygiene school in August and this is so helpful to me and many others. ❤️
Good information sis. For your back, wear a waist trainer. I have a spine injury & I can tell a difference when I wear my waist trainer & when I don’t. It really helps support my back.
All the full time dental hygienists in Austin area are making 50-70$hr. Lots of locations offering completely flexible schedules. Seems like there's no need to make less than $50 an hour unless you in some small rural city
Drums plz and the Dental hygienist of the year award goes to Tajah Ferjuste🎉🎊👏🏽👏🏽
I just got into the DH program and this video was so informational! Thank you!!
This is very informative! God bless you. Thank you for being honest about the pay. I admire you! You really inspired me.
im still fairly new to your channel by way of jayla koriyan whom i been subscribed to lonnngg time and proud of her success and i am so proud of you..your videos are a joy to watch..you both such Bosses!
Tajahhhhhaaaa $65 per hr girl that's why I love and respect you like I do because you are a woman of SELF-EVERYTHING!, Awareness, love respect ,worth! And you projected all with SELF-CONFIDENCE! Set the price but not all of them can set it with confidence!💯🍾🥂👑👍🏾🦵🏾💪🏾🖤🙂🙏🏾
Very informative video! Do you mind dropping the name of the app? 😌
I am currently a temp hygienist in Dallas, TX and I love it! Initially, I would be nervous about going to different offices as a black woman but I have had way more good experiences than bad. Is it Cusp dental app?
What temp app are you using? Thanks
@@Nicole-ge9vh I work for a temp agency.
Hi im a temp in Dallas as well!! I think she’s talking about cloud.
@@LineiaMouton Thanks for responding. I’m sure she’s going to mention it in another video but I had to ask 😂.
@@melissag0448 Thanks for responding.
Thank you for being honest and clear about your career. I appreciate your videos 😀
Hey girlie, thanks for the video!❤ I’m looking into becoming a dental hygienist but don’t where to start. Can you please make a video about applying for dental hygienist school, the cost, what you did to become one but over all congratulations girlie you’re an inspiration to this society 🥹👏🙌❤️❤️
*SIGH* I just ♥️ it here! You’re such a gem! Constantly helping others and inspiring others. Just reading your comments makes me so happy seeing all these young people out here doing the darn thing! You inspire me by just being you. I need to reopen my RUclips and give r encouragement to people who are interested in becoming a BCBA. There are not a lot of black BCBAS and the pay is good and demand is HIGH! Keep up the great work 🙌🏿🙌🏿♥️♥️
I work full time as an RDH but when I go back home to NYC (live in NYS) I pick up extra shifts to make more money and you get paid a lot more.
What temp app do you use?
i’m about to be a new graduate registered nurse this August and girl I wish there was a freaking app we could just pick up shifts at random places because these traveling agencies are just not it
I work at a dental office and my dad was a dentist who passed a few years ago.
See, that’s what discourages me. I don’t have 3 years to get into a program 😩. Are they giving feedback as to why? Or is it simply too many ppl?
THANK YOU TAJAH FOR THIS VIDEO!!! I am freshly graduated from DH school and this is extremely helpful! Thank you so much 💗
I took a break from dental but everytime I watch your videos you got me wanting to get back to it 😫
Go ahead and finish. You got this 😄🙌🏾
i did too for about 3-4 months after i finished my dental assistant program, felt stuck but i just applied to b in a hygienist program , manifesting i got in lol but just tryna inspire u to go for it!
Been waiting on this!!🖤✨
I just love this I got a few more classes to finish and I’ll be apply for the program this spring to start in the fall I can wait, currently knocking out summer classes now!!!!
They’re starting to get paid more than nurses, they’re equivalent to pharmacist salaries. Especially here in NY. They might as well go for their doctoral
Definitely would love a part 2!
I really enjoyed your video, could you create one about dental hygiene clinical program, what to expect and also study habits/tips for school?
Tajah i love watching your videos. Your personality is everything, and i think you’ve motivated me to go for hygiene school. Thank you!
Hey sis 💖 I’m a nurse but I met a bomb temp dental hygienist during my dental cleaning appointment and she was getting paid $100 an hour I’m in NJ btw 😊
Omg this is so exciting! I live in NY so I could only imagine how much it pays here! 😁💃🏾
@a.b Lmao you are right.
You can make a BIG coin working agency! I am an RN and they used to give us the worst loads cause we used to make the higher hourly rate vs. the staff Nurses! I had a goal, achieved it and now have returned to a company! Awesome 👏🏾 content and on point 🎯
On diem is a good temp agency for dental hygienist. They help with insurance, PTO, etc
But, I was thinking of starting as an assistant and move up but, I'm still thinking (Tips please ? )
Omg!! As one of my career pathways, I'm interested/ considering becoming a dental hygienist post senior grad, and your detailed video delivered babeee.
love your content , keep making these videos girl you inspire people
Love this video and continue to thrive girl! Love your channel
I just found your channel and I’m obsessed! Thank you for this video!
Best of luck to you ❤
I love these videos. I’m a dental hygiene student on my final year (in Jamaica) and no m still trying to figure out whether I’m to stay local, go overseas or even do my masters. #stressed
go overseas! explore the world doing what you love
Great video as always and always dropping straight gems 💎👍🏾👏🏾🤗
Hi Tajah! I absolutely love watching your videos. Your spirit and energy is so amazing to me, not to mention.. you are such a beautiful black woman. Continued blessing to you. Also, will you be getting hot cocoa and beige lipglosses back on your website?
Ok in the beginning I thought I was watching a skin care beauty commercial . Lmaoo super beautiful
I swear a couple hours ago I was hoping you posted today 🙂
I love all your videos! Keep them coming. Especially the DH ones since I’m currently a 2nd DH student. I graduate this up coming year.
Hoping to get accepted! I currently hold a bachelors in biology
Yasss Taj i always loved your dental videos😍.
Do you feel that body pain is a big issue while you work? Is it something that makes you temp ?
What's the name of the app?
what is the app that you use to temp?
im having the exact issue right now. im stuck because i’m 3/4 of the way done w my bachelors but I want to be a dental hygienist ):
@@fannysanchez6774 yeah that was my problem. I was already nearly done with B.A. so I had no choice.
Do it! Just keep going 😉
Hey girl! Thanks 🙏🏾. This video was very informative. I’m waiting to see if I’m accepted into the dental hygiene program coming this fall. I didn’t realize travel hygienist was a thing. It’s definitely something I would love to do. Love your videos. Keep up the great work ❤️
Hi; I'm a dental Hygienist in NYC; I do a lot of temping; through the agency. I would love the name of the App.
This isn’t my career field, but still really enjoyed this!! I’ll be recommending it to whomever will listen 😂😂
What do you suggest for saving up for retirement?
Thank you so much for pouring all of those information about temping Tajah! 💕You’re amazing! Love you and love your content. 🥰
So as a temp.. have you ever had one employee from any of those offices ask you how much is the doctor paying you? Because I feel some will do and it’s kind of uncomfortable to speak about it especially that you’re definitely getting more than they are. How do you answer professionally?
Did you start off as a hygienist or did you do dental assisting first?... also love the natural makeup look on you!
I finished nursing school but I’ll still watch 😊
Super nervous but excited to give it another go
I also live in Ga and have my bachelors did you go forward with dental hygiene?
Such a great video, thank you so much!
This was great! What app does she use?
Honey, you are the greatest!!! I love your videos!! What is the name of that app?????
would you mind sharing what app is that?
What’s the app? 😊
There's another question I think it's important Tajah being independent the office that you going to work to, is it privately owned? And more so is there a major difference between privately owned and non privately owned facilities as far as benefits and pay for those that are NOT traveling temps...
Tajah you motivated me to go to hygiene school. I 🎓 2 weeks ago.
