The abandoned shop in hogsmeade basically *is* the shrieking shack. Just 150 years before it became "haunted". It only became the shrieking shack because that's where Lupin went as a student every full moon to keep himself and others safe while in werewolf form.
When Harry Potter first came out there were a bunch of smartass comedians who joked that because Hogwarts didn't have any math classes the best way to keep students out of unwanted rooms wouldn't have been with magic traps, it would have been with simple math problems. I like to think those door puzzles (15:05) are a nod to that.
Professor Fig, seeing an exhausted student sleeping on his carpet two nights in a row: "Hmm... maybe we need to stop assigning so much homework at the start of term." Lucan and the other Crossed Wand members finding the new students passed out on the club floor: "Wow, she must *really* like dueling."
Honestly as immersive as this game is the only issue I have with this game is that we can't sleep in our own dorms or there are no NPCs in the dorms at night.

this game is actually blowing past my hyped expectations. the details they have in every room are insane. everything is mystical and magical, butterflies everywhere in herbology, "ghost" stars by where the 2 cats are, the under library, hogsmeed, and i haven't even left the caslte/hogsmeed yet. this team deserves a massive clap
It Killed me watching her delete the robes without equipping the highest stats (: Please read this! you can hover over the gear type and press "SQUARE" and then select whatever look you fancy that you've unlocked! always equip the highest stat gear regardless of how ugly it is, and then do the Square thing to change the look to what you like :)
Please tell me if she figures this out soon in the playthough or I can't watch any further. It's the kind of thorough, explorative playthrough I enjoy, but the gear thing is killing me.
I would highly recommend talking to your professors if you can after they teach you a spell. They all have great backstories that you can only learn from talking to them after the spell is learned.
You can hide/change your gear to look however you'd like. That way you can have all the highest stats equipped while still looking exactly the way you want. P.S. awesome playthrough so far
to be fair to zenobia, the other students decided to play gobstones knowing full well what happens when you lose and they chose to play anyway. since she's a first year, they probably thought she'd be an easy target to make fun of and they got angry when it backfired. do they get angry when their chess pieces are destroyed in wizard's chess, too? or when their exploding snap card explode in their faces as advertised?
Okay I wish i found your game plays earlier!! I'm addicted . Watching you find all the pages of the field guide, opening the doors with the ruines on them and playing the side quests is so fulfilling for me. I watched others play and they just do the main quests in the story. I was hoping I would find someone that would play the game like this. This would be how I would play it. I would litterally be doing everything and upgrading things as you are. This just makes me want the game more. I will watch the rest of your game plays and I am excited to hopefully one day get the game myself. BTW you never have to apologize for getting sidetracked I am the same way there is just so much to see and do and I love taking it all in with you. Have a great Day. ❤😊

In the 1792-1793 Triwizard Tournament three of the judges were injured as well as many others, due to the danger of it and previous tournaments, the tournament was canceled, multiple attempts were made to bring it back but it was nearly two centuries later in 1994 (Harry Potter's fourth year, Goblet of Fire) that one was successful. So unfortunately having the tournament be held would actually go against canon.
You can always change the appearance of your gear, you don't need to keep the gears that you don't need as you permanently unlock their appearance when you loot them.
Hi! I've been watching several Hogwarts Legacy playthrough because I couldn't buy it yet and not anytime soon, but I haven't found any players that does actually explore instead of focusing too much on the main storyline and finishing quest.. until I stumble upon your playthroughs! Although there's nothing wrong with how they play, sometimes I just want to see people take in the environment and explore all the nook and crannies, and you do just that! Loving the energy and enthusiasm. By the way, just to shed some light to the animal puzzle, it starts with 0 because the first picture is a Demiguise, which are creatures that can make themselves invisible, hence the 0. And then Unicorn, like it's name, has 1 horn so it's 1. Graphorn has 2 horns, so it's 2. Followed by Runespoor (3), the 3 headed snake, a Fwooper (4) bird which has 4 tails... although besides the Salamander(?) and the Spider, I don't know the rest lol. Maybe anyone here could tell me what they are?
The Salamander has 6…ummmm…points? on its head. Hydra (Greek Mythical creature) has 9 heads. Quintaped (5) and Unknown magical powers(7) I had to look up.
You can actually make any piece of Clothing item invisible to your character but still keep the stats of that item by going into the "Gear" page and you hover over any piece of gear and press F to change appearance, then there is a number of wear appearances to choose and one of them is the invisible clothing just click on it and their you go.
You also don’t need to keep items to use their cosmetic appearance. It’s permanently unlocked as a cosmetic when you find it. Destroying or selling it only sells or destroys the stats version. It’ll still always be available for cosmetic use.
It hurt to see her getting rid of stuff with stat upgrades on it just for the sake of fashion game. Never understood why people gimp their character like that.
I've seen so many streamers do this and I just wish the game made a mandatory appearance prompt to help players who consistently ignore the appearance button in the gear menu I can understand the confusion, but seeing players actively avoid wearing gear with good stats solely due to their appearance despite the fact they can change the appearance of them and even hide them is extremely painful Worse still when some players decide to stick with terrible gear because they like how it all looks, even keeping their inventory full because they don't want to lose the appearance... (ALL gear appearances are permanently saved the moment you collect gear with that appearance for first time)

I apologise for the obvious misunderstanding here, I just literally mean it's a pain to see someone weaken themselves and/or needlessly waste inventory space when they don't need to. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy all other parts of the playthrough so far. And yes I have been playing it myself, but that's not mutually exclusive with watching a playthrough too so I don't understand what you're trying to imply there.
I didn't know your channel before this Hogwarts serie. I love it. And you are such a refreshing person. I just want to inform you that this game is set into the late 1800's meaning that the shrieking shack doesn't exist yet... The shrieking shack is from the Marauder's time in school which is set around the 1970's (when Harry's parents were in school and Lupin made it the 'shrieking shack')
Regarding gear - just wear whatever has the best stats, and use the "change appearance" function to use any look from any previously found clothing. Also, some of the rewards are cosmetic only (this includes the dark magic outfit from deluxe edition, and the robes from link8ng your account). Also, if your robes have a hood, you can toggle it from the main inventory screen (y on xbox, triangle on ps5 i think). As for the chests with eyes, you'll be able to open them after the first visit to the restricted section of the library (the solution is really obvious once you know it).
Here's a little trick I learned for the number doors, it makes it so you can know exactly which number it is without having to count from the beginning each time and works for the majority of the number. The only ones it doesn't work with is 4, 6 & 7. The demiguise shows no limbs thus 0, unicorn has one horn thus one, graphorn has 2 hours thus 2, three headed serpent 3, Quniteped 5 limbs thus 5, spider 8 legs thus 8, 9 headed hydra thus 9.
4 is an owl. 2 legs + 2 wings. 6 is a Salamander 4 legs + 1 tail + 1 head. I haven't figured out 7 yet. Edit: I just did some reading on the grindylow and I found the answer. After the battle of the SEVEN Potters, Lupin asked Harry about the creature that sat in his room his first year, which was a grindylow. Much more cryptic on that one.

I'm pretty sure you're able to store things in your school trunk in the dorm. If you need to store things that you don't want to sell but still need inventory space.

That Sirona has a deep voice and, as you said, sass, doesn't she? :) While in a fight, be extra careful when you see a "crown" around your head, press your shield charm immediately! You can change ANY button in the "settings", so you can select which button suits you to act as "Protego".
I love to watch with how much passion you play this game! And I felt it so much what you said about LOTR, because I have the exact same feeling towards the movies and have never met anyone before who watches them as a comfort background noise like I do. Love that!
I'm just noticing now that all of the book's pages could have been made as unlockable rewards in other missions, but they chose to sprinkle them around the place. the Prince Of Persia saga had the early implementations of this, where you'd get concept art pictures as artwork pieces that you could use as desktop wallpapers, but I don't remember how they were obtained. mixing that and this with actual explanations of what the different pieces are, was brilliant.
Am I the only one who sympathizes with Zenobia?😂 It’s quite simple, if you don’t want to risk being sprayed, don’t play. No need to be a prat and hide someone else’s stuff just because you lose. I will say though, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest that those gobstones are jinxed for her benefit. She does seem a bit nefarious with how much sucking up she does to get us to help her.

I think you had the same problem I had with combat early on. It’s easy to get hyper fixated on attack sequences and slinging spells around so that you forget to pay attention to defense cues. As a tip for newer players (I know you’re far beyond this point now, Miranda), focus more on yourself than your enemies. Watch for the defense cues even when you’re attacking, and make sure to release R2 (or whatever your basic cast/spell wheel select keybind is) before you protego. I’m not sure, but I think you were casting Lumos instead of protego when you were trying to shield yourself. Spam attacking gets you in trouble quickly in this game. :) ETA: lol about 30 seconds after I wrote this comment you made the exact same observation I had regarding R2 and the triangle. XD

The number riddle doors were a little hard for me too in the beginning, until I realized that it's the limbs of the creatures that give you the numbers. The first one has no limbs = 0, the creature above it has 1 horn, the next has 2 horns, then 3 heads etc XDD I felt so dumb after realizing that
At least this game rewards you for exploring. That's the fastest way to level up. And it makes a lot of sense that the Arithmancy Classroom is behind the math puzzle door. Professor Fig keeps mentioning a Locket, but I don't remember finding a locket in the Gringotts section of the intro, only the pensive and the memory bottle. Maybe they cut out a part of one of the cut scenes where we find the locket?
Um, Miranda 28:38 The game you are currently playing takes place a very long time before the books and movies takes place and all the original characters have not been born yet; not even Dumbledore and he is the one who had the Shrieking Shack built specifically for Remus Lupin to use for his werewolf transformations. The Shrieking Shack doesn't exist yet.

The puzzle doors made me so crazy, I had to look the solution up, but what I figured out at once thereafter that it is WAYYY easier to just SUBTRACT the digits from the sum in the middle instead of trying to think of what the missing numbers are. I always ask myself why all the players in the playthroughs don’t think of that. 😅 Other than that Miranda, you’re very quick and skilled with the game! Took me ages to take out the troll in Hogsmeade and I am playing in storymode😂
Pretty sure it's the same in every common room that the girls dorms are upstairs and the boys downstairs, boys can't get up the stairs to the girls dorms as the stairs will turn into a slide whenever a boy tries to get up.
The tri wizard tournament was discontinued some time around 1790 after a rampaging cockatrice inquired several spectators and not restarted till Harry’s 4th year so no goblet of fire for us

I just want to inform you that this game is set into the late 1800's meaning that the shrieking shack doesn't exist yet... The shrieking shack is from the Marauder's time in school which is set around the 1970's (when Harry's parents were in school and Lupin made it the 'shrieking shack')

Regarding gear - just wear whatever has the best stats, and use the "change appearance" function to use any look from any previously found clothing. Also, some of the rewards are cosmetic only (this includes the dark magic outfit from deluxe edition, and the robes from link8ng your account).
Also, if your robes have a hood, you can toggle it from the main inventory screen (y on xbox, triangle on ps5 i think).
As for the chests with eyes, you'll be able to open them after the first visit to the restricted section of the library (the solution is really obvious once you know it).
Here's a little trick I learned for the number doors, it makes it so you can know exactly which number it is without having to count from the beginning each time and works for the majority of the number. The only ones it doesn't work with is 4, 6 & 7. The demiguise shows no limbs thus 0, unicorn has one horn thus one, graphorn has 2 hours thus 2, three headed serpent 3, Quniteped 5 limbs thus 5, spider 8 legs thus 8, 9 headed hydra thus 9.
6-legged salamander
4 is an owl. 2 legs + 2 wings. 6 is a Salamander 4 legs + 1 tail + 1 head. I haven't figured out 7 yet.
Edit: I just did some reading on the grindylow and I found the answer. After the battle of the SEVEN Potters, Lupin asked Harry about the creature that sat in his room his first year, which was a grindylow. Much more cryptic on that one.

I'm pretty sure you're able to store things in your school trunk in the dorm. If you need to store things that you don't want to sell but still need inventory space.
There is no inventory stash in this game. You can only increase the carrying capacity by solving a certain group of puzzles.
The house chest is part of a quest you unlock!

That Sirona has a deep voice and, as you said, sass, doesn't she? :) While in a fight, be extra careful when you see a "crown" around your head, press your shield charm immediately! You can change ANY button in the "settings", so you can select which button suits you to act as "Protego".

the Prince Of Persia saga had the early implementations of this, where you'd get concept art pictures as artwork pieces that you could use as desktop wallpapers, but I don't remember how they were obtained.
mixing that and this with actual explanations of what the different pieces are, was brilliant.

It’s quite simple, if you don’t want to risk being sprayed, don’t play. No need to be a prat and hide someone else’s stuff just because you lose.
I will say though, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest that those gobstones are jinxed for her benefit. She does seem a bit nefarious with how much sucking up she does to get us to help her.
ur gear isnt for fashion its so you dont die. u can always put the best one on and transmog the look to one that looks fashionable

I think you had the same problem I had with combat early on. It’s easy to get hyper fixated on attack sequences and slinging spells around so that you forget to pay attention to defense cues. As a tip for newer players (I know you’re far beyond this point now, Miranda), focus more on yourself than your enemies. Watch for the defense cues even when you’re attacking, and make sure to release R2 (or whatever your basic cast/spell wheel select keybind is) before you protego. I’m not sure, but I think you were casting Lumos instead of protego when you were trying to shield yourself. Spam attacking gets you in trouble quickly in this game. :)
ETA: lol about 30 seconds after I wrote this comment you made the exact same observation I had regarding R2 and the triangle. XD

The number riddle doors were a little hard for me too in the beginning, until I realized that it's the limbs of the creatures that give you the numbers. The first one has no limbs = 0, the creature above it has 1 horn, the next has 2 horns, then 3 heads etc XDD I felt so dumb after realizing that

At least this game rewards you for exploring. That's the fastest way to level up. And it makes a lot of sense that the Arithmancy Classroom is behind the math puzzle door.
Professor Fig keeps mentioning a Locket, but I don't remember finding a locket in the Gringotts section of the intro, only the pensive and the memory bottle. Maybe they cut out a part of one of the cut scenes where we find the locket?

Um, Miranda 28:38 The game you are currently playing takes place a very long time before the books and movies takes place and all the original characters have not been born yet; not even Dumbledore and he is the one who had the Shrieking Shack built specifically for Remus Lupin to use for his werewolf transformations. The Shrieking Shack doesn't exist yet.

When you mentioned lord of the rings and the hobbit it made me NEED to tell you about the new hobbit themed game for the switch it’s called Tales Of The Shire! I’d LOVE to see you play it sometime!
The puzzle doors made me so crazy, I had to look the solution up, but what I figured out at once thereafter that it is WAYYY easier to just SUBTRACT the digits from the sum in the middle instead of trying to think of what the missing numbers are.
I always ask myself why all the players in the playthroughs don’t think of that. 😅
