    That shaded symbol depicted on the profile got me. Never ever heard of it. Thanks for the quality video.

    Didn’t know about the stipple. Also, messed up the altitude question because I thought to go with the segment altitude without thinking about what equipment was being used to fly the segment and the fact that the rest of the approach couldn’t be completed. Tricky!

    Love the quizes. Keeps things sharp. I messed up on Q3. I saw the NA to the south.... so I said "Right"........ but you had them in "Right/Left Traffic" not just a to the left/right. SO.... I was safe.... I get half a point on that one.. LOL

      Same here! I said to myself "welp, there's a mountain to the south of 9/27 so I might go to the right of the runway", didn't think about it in left downwind/left traffic kind of way lol

    The circling question tripped me up😊. I looked at it landing 27 not 09 and answered right traffic. Cheated a bit on the MSA by looking at the elevation numbers on the terrain. Good questions,none seemed to he brain busters, but got me thinking. Thanks for the video!

    for the circling: the note notwithstanding, I believe the FAA requires you to adhere to normal traffic pattern when circling. and I think this makes sense in this context: someone could be doing touch and goes vfr

    Great video. Never knew what that symbol was for the obstacle free area on the RNAV GPS approach. Stipple?

    Direct entry is the preferred entry or the one that makes the most sense. The parallel entry is the least, and in all honesty is not even an option. easiest way to remember any hold entry is that when you approach the fix from the short end or the turn that is leaving the fix outbound and you are entering from the outbound part of the oval that is going to be a parallel entry. If you’re in the same area but you’re approaching the fix with the larger part of the oval above the fix that is going to be a teardrop. if you approach the fix from the long part of the oval itself in either direction that is going to be a direct entry.

    Didn’t get the last one. Figured teardrop.

    I think it's a direct entry

      direct would've been most preferable here.

    Wasn’t that holding for the missed approach??

    i didn't understand that. Why do we start circuling to land with left traffic pattern? For example if we start at FEBAT with initial movement to the airport with heading 259 or so and with too much of altitude for example 17000 feet.
    Then we can only do our circules to the right, because on the left(south) are mountains. And on the right is a lot more space. So is this somekind of a trick or i just don't understand something about circling to land?

    • @russellbonds3842
      @russellbonds3842 4 месяца назад

      He asked if it would be left traffic or right. Since you’re circling the airport to the north, you’d be doing left traffic since you’d be making left turns. You would physically turn right to fly north, but it’s considered left traffic because you’re making left hand turns. Make sense?

    • @russellbonds3842
      @russellbonds3842 4 месяца назад

      Think of it like this. Whichever window you see the runway out of (left or right), that’s the traffic pattern you’re flying.

    • @Valentin_MeL
      @Valentin_MeL 4 месяца назад

      @@russellbonds3842 Good advice about the windows during patterns.
      Let me explain what i would do in this scenario if i were at FEBAT point at 17000 feet. I would do heading to the airport which is 259 then after reaching airport i will do right turn to the TEPRE point using go-around path and then once again right turn to FEBAT. After that i repeat this circle as much as needed to loose altitude. So all the time that was right turns and right traffic pattern for me. Also airport was on the right when i was on my way to TEPRE point.
      So, am i still do understand something about circling? or we would just use different paths for circling?

    Got my instrument about a year go and I still got them all. I did have to pull out my IFR plotter that has the holding pattern entries to double check that the parallel was the least preferable. lol.
