I’ve seen many questions regarding her demure gesture towards her mouth just before she sings the final note. As an esteemed opera expert I can tell you she is activating her third lung. Simply amazing. And even better live if you can believe it. Sound that just builds and builds, and when she really lets loose, the sound just pins you to the back of your seat. Brava!!
Saludos cordiales.
Before y'all saying she held it out longer than Caballe, Caballe didn't the speakers we have now, only the microphone to record and had much more core to her sound Nobody asked - ⏮ ⏯ ⏭🔊-
Bravissima Meade!! This is the interpolation of Caballe' - to hold the b natural to the end! Yes, not as written! But i think even Verdi would have been blown away!!!
Well... I like it. On Sunday I saw my fiance dropping to the floor and struggle near death. If I could describe my dispair, the grief and the inhumane way I screamed and for how long, this is the closest thing I can find. Fortunately, he's well, it was just a big scare. So, incongruous... I wouldn't say that. I think it's a good highlight of grief.
I like the soprano very much ! But the last note is supposed to be a scream and she's holding back to sustain longer ! That's why Caballe stay unreachable by the new singers !!
She is fantastic, the final note, Verdi wrote it for one measure, then lengthened it for two, obviously he wasn't crazy enough to demand it during the entire final coda because few singers can do it. Anyway, great Meade
It's crazy how she sounds very solid at the very beginning and as soon as she approaches the 2nd passaggio, then that wobble starts, and u can hear the entire voice just quaver afterwards as if 2 or 3 different singers are onstage.
bad idea to not have them miked as the tenor is lacking... can he push anymore? Hence the noise when he tries to sing softly. All that muscularity from singing loud has no idea where to go and thus makes noise when not engaged. That vibrato of hers really gets in the way. It's as if she leans on it instead of singing above it. I don't know what is opera today.
She actually sounds phenomenal the first measure or 2, and then all of a sudden that damn same quavery, weird tone comes in and the rest of the video is ALL that same terrible wobbly, amateur sounding bullshit. I don't get it! Meade won a whole bunch of competitions and got major gigs right from the start, and has always sounded this way. What were the people in charge of hiring thinking? I wonder if anyone else hears what I'm hearing? It's absolutely horrible. And if u say anything against her, it's like you're supporting Trump. You're vilified online.
It was impressive to hear caballe sing it, but it adds something to see someone sustain that note for so long. Brava!

Plus she sings the note light (smart) except for the very end. Caballe sings full throttle from beginning to end.

@@laprimmadonna2341 Gracias. Un abrazo 😘
@11:27 she holds the high note a full 19 seconds
That must have felt like the longest few seconds of her life. Masterfully done, regardless!
Thank you very much!!😮❤❤❤
Meade’s ending note for me sounds “floating in the air”. Caballe’s ending note is like “Yes I’m floating but I will cut you...deep” 😂😂😂
so true so true i agree
the reason cabelle's held that note was her and the tenor was kind of getting into it with each on stage so she showed him up at the end
@@leeroger1471 yeah. I think it was Corelli.
Bravo Angela.
Extremely well done. Strong.
20 seconds. wow! Impressive
I'd love to listen to the complete performance.

Caballe is Diva ..
It’s still very impressive

The famous Caballe note. Incongruous then, incongruous now.

Wow, A lo Caballé. Brava Angela ...!!!
ACABOU COM MEU CORAÇÃO....GANHOU MAIS UM FÃ

Wow. She pulled a Caballè. Very nice brava
Nice, but doesn't come close to Caballe's version I don't care how long Meade holds the final note!
u are right caballe's voice is more clear and effortless
Great Angela Meade! WOWWW
Wow! This woman!
20 secs!
But what a beautiful piece of music.... Angelic.
Meade is following Caballe’s last note and is really anazing❤
the last note was glorious. reminded me of Caballe. spoiler: after 12:00 it's crap clap
Ah, the old Caballé trick and she does it well

brava davvero
I think Caballe would have been very proud of her!
A WOBBLE in the soprano.

Come la Caballe❤
Sensacional!!!!
More long the final note is, more the dramatic catarsis of the drama is impressiv. She makes better than Caballé ! 20 s !!
11:26 - the ribbon note!!!!! the ribbon note!!!
God damn
CORO DE LA ORQUESTA SINFÓNICA DE GALICIA when did this take place?

Please check out soprano Kasondra Kazanjian
Am I the only one who thinks Verdi would prefer it done his way? A circus of one nicely produced note.
She's only sleeping. 😴 Arnold Bourbon Amaral
So schreechy as per ususl.

It looks like she has eaten Eboli.
Disgusting comment
I'd love to listen to the complete performance.
