A great video of the new model year 2021 JOHN DEERE HD40R Hinge Draper Head. I can remember as a kid working on the farm and I think the IH combine had a 12 ft header. So much technology it is hard to compare to years gone by. Great job keep up the good work. Thanks.
Good video with a lot of information... I'm old enough to remember the old pull type Allis combine with the heavy canvas aprons, top and bottom, and the platform on the left side to stand and fill 2 burlap sacks with grain... Throw a millers not on them and drop them to the ground to be picked up later... I don't remember the model year of the combine... but I remember watching it run... I was too young to help at that time...
Excellent video and camera work! I also enjoy the interviews with the farmers up in the combines; interesting and informative at the same time! A local farmer let me ride in his John Deere combine one afternoon a couple months ago during a wheat harvest, it was a very neat and interesting experience; certainly gave me a lot more respect and appreciation for farmers!
We just demoed a S780 with a pickup header for grass seed here in Oregon. It almost does as many acres as our 3 New Holland combines do combined. Our 3 New Holland’s are 2 CX8070 and a CX840.
@@chadwilliams2973That's what I WAS THINKING; JD was Always having to Do catch up on Their Equipment. IH was right behind New Holland with Their Rotate style combines.
@@bigtractorpower We primarily grow corn and beans but every now and then rotate winter wheat into the fields. We farm around 2000 acres in IL northeast of the St. Louis area.
Are we going to see some Hydraflex coverage this year? REALLY love seeing these modern big flex headers in action - though these new ridgid bars are sure doing a great job following the ground too
what combine they got to put the 50 foot header on that is crazy big the only other combine i have heard of with 50 foot head is the fent i think it is
More common in Europe. They're John Deere's conventional combine. Before the sts bullet rotor machines, which have evolved into the modern s series, JD was making conventional straw Walker combines. They've slowly fallen out of favor here but in Europe they're still popular. They can't go as fast in corn but they do a really good job in small grains like wheat, barley, oats and canola
You don't seem to have folding headers there in US at all, they are always put on a trailer and towed to a different location by the combine itself or a pickup truck? 🤔
No need for the extra complexity of a folder when we can just tow them out there & hookem' up. There are some around, most don't really care about them though. Different products for different markets, like how you rarely find single wheel equipment in the US, everything tends to be on duals if not triples, but singles are more common in the European markets that have tighter public road width restrictions(generally, we either don't have size restrictions beyond common sense, or they're pretty loose, depending on the state of course - like here in Ohio we don't have any restrictions).
They were devastating across the region they hit a dozen communities directly. The next town over from me was absolutely devastated. Yep Wario support has been wonderful to see in people are getting a lot of help.
What’s a header like that weigh? How many $$$$$$$? Do the header carts have to be specially configured for different headers or can a 40’ cart handle most 40’ headers?
sounds like mike mitchels is getting to demo a jd x9 with 50ft header to put up against his seven ideal 9 combines,go see his last video and see how unsatisfied he is with the agco combines.
I have a question...when combine is considered full is that without the grain tank extension or do the manufacturers figure in the extensions when they say a combine holds 350 bushels?
I saw you are subscribed to cole the cornstar, Westin Chaplin, Walker farms, demolition ranch, and big tractor power. I have the same subscriptions all very good channels.
@@bigtractorpower I agree because of seeing the John Deere in wet parts of the field alot of mud collectsoz2 and gets stuck around the tracks and won't budge and could cause problems having to get out and clear it? A Sß
The ride of the Claas is unmatched on tracks. Riding in the S780 I knew it had tracks especially on the turns. You never think about the Claas having tracks riding in it. The flat long tracks are great in mud they do not sink and leave a trench like triangle tracks.
@@bigtractorpower We are trying to get Demo with Claas 780 or any new Claas Combine for next year but there are not many in the Country yet but good things have been said about them even by people I know that said the Switch from Catterpillar to Mercedes Engine would be detrimental to performance.
I have a video on that coming up. My friend Matt ran an S790 with a 45ft MacDon FD145 and an X9 1100 with a 45ft HD45R. Matt talks about what he thinks of the headers.
Depends on your crop - if you're only using a draper for wheat, that's one thing, but obviously strippers have a pretty narrow range of crops they can harvest.
Operating a huge combine is just as relaxing as mowing a lawn ............
No, there is a lot more to think about and do when driving a huge combine.

Possibly an AC 66 all-crop?
Not too many guys that will stand behind the spreader to get video. Keep it up you have more guts then I do thanks for the good videos

Really cool getting to see the new equipment at work in the field. Great video keep up the great work Big Tractor Power!

Great vid as always! On our Family Farm, we have a Gleaner R55 Combine with a 7000 series 2011 Gleaner Auger Header

Those extra augurs really helped the crop pretty impressive
The cross auger does a nice job.
We run a John Deere S680 combine and a MacDon FD75 draper. We really love the duo and also love your videos they are awesome
Very cool harvest team. Thank you for watching.
The combine eats the grain👍😁
Great video, keep up the great work😉👍
This Combine looks amazing but I love my Claas and John Deere have not really established here yet so have to see what future brings.
BTP - another great video! We run Case IH 7230 combine and MacDon draper but aspire to go BIG like this one day.

With what is spent on a combine & all the technology we have these days, that header should separate like a rocket booster on the space shuttle! 😁😂🤣
$500 000 and more
If only we had that on our old gleaner m3

*did that harvester have the new massage seats?*
That’s a ten thousand dollar seat!
What is the Purpose of having a draper belt and a auger
Good question. I talk about the 18” auger in the video. It helps evenly feed crops especially bushy crops like canola from the ends to the center.
I was the 400th like

Oooo, now that's interesting - especially with the big 50!
Want to see a new Lexion 8000 please
What's the advantage of the rigid over the flex???
Nobody knows. I think deere just wanted to copy macdon and have a better small grain header. any type of flexing a hydra flex would be better
We run s790 with Macdon 45 ft and 16 row fold up drago corn head
Nice.

The factory extensions are included in capacity. The S780 is 400 bu. with bin extensions.
@@bigtractorpower ah ok thank you for the answer Jason keep up the awesome videos 👍🚜
Are you going to eventually film a 50 foot flex head?
I hope so. So far I have been in the field this 40ft on the S780 and a 45ft on an X9 1100.
95 bu/acre?! I wish we saw those numbers! Wow

How hard is the head going on the header cart with the wheels on?
No issue at all. The wheels retract before taking the header off. You can see the wheels fold in at the 15:34 minute mark of this video.
bigtractorpower yeah I must have missed that sorry
Augers to belts to both funny how things evolve
It is. Belts go back to canvas in the 1920’s.
Wheat is the most fun crop to harvest, idk it just is a joy.
It is a great crop to film. Nice time of year to be in the field.
What do you think is better track System John Deere or Claas?
The Claas Terra Trac system is the best track system offered for a combine hands down.
