Then you have to determine the input power from output power to be derived with such efficiency. Then you have to calculate the WA product. Then you could select the core and the bobbin size. Then you have to find out the Tpv= (.9.5/core area in sq".). Then you could determine the output and input current. Then using the formula Crossectional area of wire= (current/5).={π÷4}*(d*d). Where d is the diameter of the wire. From it you could easily detect the swg no of both primary and secondary wire. All these formulas are applicable for any type of transformer working@50 HZ frequency. But the different shape tx has different method of calculation of core and window area. Ex in a rectangular care the core are= length*breadth of the rectangle. But for a circular core (toroidal tx) the core area= (De-Di)*H/2 sq units.Again remember 1"=2.54cm, so 1sq"= (2.54*2.54) sq cm.So the conversion of core area from sq" to sq cm or from sq cm to sq" should be substituted correctly. You have to only one thing to know what is window area for different types of cores.
The site provides tables for choosing the correct wire sizes etc. I have designed transformer for many years .... the trick is to keep the temperature down by running the core at a low flux density and choosing the correct wire sizes . For reliability choose a bigger core . Remember to add the packing factor of about 1.1 when calculating turns per layer or the coil will not fit the window area.

For example you have 2,5 X 3,5 cm = 8,75 sq cm. so for 12 V you wil need: 50:(2,5x3,5)x 12 = 68,6 turns and for primary 240 X 50:(2,5x3,5) = 1371, 4 turns . You must take +10% for be sure. First of all you must know vhat power you need for output and for input use 1,25 ...1,35 X output power (depends on the quality of the magnetic core).
WAIT A MINUTE ! !! Transformers depend on the FACT that primary 220Vac is related to secondary voltage (12Vac) ONLY when the Iron core that the windings are wound around is NOT SATURATED ! ! The Iron core MUST be wound with sufficient Primary turns to avoid magnetic saturation , in the SPECIFIC case shown: Npri= 385 turns. Whether this is correct is another question. The number of Primary turns will vary according to the physical dimensions of the Iron core. Some simple calculations are REQUIRED before winding ! ! ! ! @$#%&^%*
Lets say I want to build a step up Transformer from 12 volts with 160 amps and step it up to 120V on Secondary side What size wire would I need on primary side with how many winding would it take and how what size wire on secondary side and how many windings would I have to use?

Good work, can you make higher amps of the secondary windings for high performance inverter, 12,0,12 volts battery or solar converted to 240volts AC at least 30-60amps output secondary windings in reality, as i can see on your work your secondary winding is only 6-10 amps, is it possible to make a transformer like this 12,0,12v. Dc~240v.AC 30-60amps.? Because those transistors AC inverter is fake with small transformer is useless it doesn't produce the reliable 240 volts output electricity for heavy duty use.
