Although Liam Howlett is known for using loads of samples, in this case the main guitar riff was played by Jim Davies, who also played on Firestarter. There are at least 4 samples in the song though.
I’ve been producing for ten years only in my last couple of years have I started to understand and dive into synthesis etc. You are a genius to me mate. This is absolutely incredible talent.
Man, the power of resonance and filtering... really cool use of detuning to replicate the pluck too. Very cool sound design concepts you shared here. Thank you!
Great, your video confirms 100% why I went DAW-less: I don't want to "program" a sound, I want to "play" it, without 200 drop-downs. Your video is quite helpful though showing what different settings like hi-pass and resonanz do.
Thank you so much for this. I've been getting into synths lately and your video really helps to understand how some things work. Also it sounds pretty close to the original imo
This really was a fantastic tutorial! The track was for the longest time my #1 Prodigy hit, but seeing the details that went into reproducing the opening sound, gave me a new perspective on it. I thought your presentation was extremely clean, and if this is not how you normally do things - consider mirroring this on future vids. I'll definitely be checking out more of your channel as a result!
Sounds pretty close I’d say . One small tip : I got ahold of the latest Korg Edition 3 update and after exploring the presets on the Prophecy I found a lot of “ Prodigy sounds “ including the distorted 303 from Poison . Cheers Note for anyone too broke for Serum the free version of Vital can do all of this and sounds great in it’s own right.
I don't know if it's just me but I really dislike unfilterted saw waves, with every synth you open almost the init patch will be a saw wave. I've actually gotten into the habit with most synths that before I even press a key I will close the filter a bit
I wish I had that knowledge, I really envy you! Re-creating is sometimes harder than actually doing some fun stuff that occasionally sounds good. No disrespect to Prodigy, though. Metalhead with a taste for electronic music here, Prodigy fan since the 90s.
Jimm Pavloff did some cool remakes of songs from Prodigy and he did it pretty well cause he used the original samples that he sampled his self out of their original tunes.
Close, but not quite there. I think you'd get even closer with some bit crushing specifically. Look up Jim Pavloff's Prodigy remake videos for some inspiration.

I have to sign up for a spotify and instagram account to download it?

Not gonna lie, this is DEFINITELY me when I'm driving.

I tried to recreate this sound for about of last 3 months. And now I understood how simple is it ! Thank u 🔥
Thanks for sharing a cool detuning feature for plucking. Definitely, will use that.
Thank you so much for this. I've been getting into synths lately and your video really helps to understand how some things work. Also it sounds pretty close to the original imo
thanks!
Thank you for the tutorial. The Prodigy is one of my all time favorite bands. I mostly make break beats and dubstep type music, so this helps huge.
Surely you are next level genius with sound design and understanding of Serum

i wasn't aware there were people that thought this was a guitar sound lol, learn something new everyday
This is rad!!!
The feels when the drums finally kicked in!
Nice work.
Bow to the sound design king. Good job, mate!
Half way I was in doubt. Soon as that resonance kicked in I knew you were on to something.. sick sound!
Very niiiiiice Sam!
Wtf! As a prodigy fan forever, and I’ve seen them quite a few times… this was fantastic. When the drums hit 🤯

Breathe with me!
immediately after watching went to listen to the original for the 1 000 000'th time. Good job!
Great one!
Iconic sound...one of the best videos I've seen on the power of Serum and Ableton
Sounds pretty close I’d say . One small tip : I got ahold of the latest Korg Edition 3 update and after exploring the presets on the Prophecy I found a lot of “ Prodigy sounds “ including the distorted 303 from Poison . Cheers

'Adventure' is the one from the mid section of Firestarter, as I recall...
Damn, this guy has some serious Serum and sound producing skills!
Yes the sound is pretty close, nice sound programming man
wow. - one of the raddest sounds ever and you nailed it

That’s me too. Can’t stand it.
The sample was from Dr. No.
Not the main theme, but one of the scene transitions in the first 1/4 of the film.
I wish I had that knowledge, I really envy you! Re-creating is sometimes harder than actually doing some fun stuff that occasionally sounds good. No disrespect to Prodigy, though. Metalhead with a taste for electronic music here, Prodigy fan since the 90s.
I love The Protegy
Awesome! Thanks.
Marvelous.
After watching this cool vid, I immediately dug out my prodigy cd, just to listen to this song again! hahaha

Incredible how you thought about Juno waveshape! It fits perfectly. Great Job
Thank you very much!
Mmmm.. Not that perfect.
Close, but not quite there. I think you'd get even closer with some bit crushing specifically. Look up Jim Pavloff's Prodigy remake videos for some inspiration.
More of this, Sam ❤️
Used to love playing this song in the band, was so much simpler using a guitar and effects board, I had the sound pretty nailed.
AMAZING!!! Thanks Sam, great great job!
Very detailed decomposition! Cheers!
FYI, the original Breathe guitar sound is a sample from some AKAI sample pack; randomly discovered it years ago.
Where can I find it? Thanks! :)
@@rasmussgaard2596 It was an Akai S1000 sample pack, but no idea which one. Happy hunting!
Great job, man!
Cool video dude - thanks! Always curious about this one
9:30 WTF! This is crazy excellent.
astounding. Would love it if you recreated other similar 20+ year old classic iconic EDM sounds, riffs, etc

THATS SOUNDS GREAT!
Nice job man. Need to pick up my hobby again :)
Incredible
And to think back then this was probably just a sample run trough a tracker. Epic howto!
Nice one brother!
Serum is so f'n awesome!!!
Wow impressive !
Awesome! 😁😁
i want to know how you made the drums or what pack you used?
Chef's kiss
Sam looks good in glasses
i'd say you nailed it
Damn… that was cool!
Did Liam not sample a sound from an old track to create the sound or am I thinking of another song?
good job, sounds nice
