Why don't I hear those "real" French musette sounds on the piano models of the FR8x and FR4x? I know it is only a matter of choosing the "Ffolk" and/or "AmericanL" but... Is that what you did Pieter Bosma?
It is the Roland 8x electronics BUT some features are left out that either weren't licensed as Roland did or some features. Aftertouch on piano model on Roland is not there on Evo. I have played both and currently have a 8X Dallape that I bought when they first came out. Mine has been trouble free. I prefer the Roland piano keyboard for the aftertouch. The Roland chromatic version doesn't have aftertouch either. Another issue for some on the Evo that ruled it out for me is the issue of finger traps. The tops of the keys are not flush with the sides so if you have skinnier fingers like mine, as you play you may get a piece of your finger skin between two adjacent keys and thus trapped. I and another member of my club noticed that. The EVO is a really nice looking accordion with some of the upscale versions. Another issue is replacing the battery which is easy on the Roland...not so on the EVO. If you play for long periods of time and need to swap out batteries as they go flat, the Roland has an advantage. The EVO has the advantage for weight as it is a couple of pounds lighter than the Roland. In addition the Roland is harder to play standing due to the distribution of that weight. Since I play sitting and don't stand for long periods of time, I have no issue with the weight. If you really do a lot of standing while playing I would avoid both and go with the Roland 4X as long as you don't need a full keyboard as it has 37 keys compared to 41 on the other two piano keyboard versions. The last issue is support. Since the EVO relies on Roland 8X electronics there is a question if they will have a future model coming....and whether they can continue to support the present model.
