Representing angels and demons by abstract shapes seems like a very good way of depicting them; a useful reminder that they are utterly unworldly, and vastly unlike anything perceptible to the senses.
I can’t understand people who deny the existence of Satan. I am tempted by him on a daily basis . The devil is behind terrorism, drugs, pornography, violence, bad thoughts and moral relativism. But Jesus defeated death and sin. We have nothing to fear if we pray and receive sacraments frequently. The demons run away from Saint Michael, our Lady, blessed water or a cross. And our Gardian Angel is always there to guide us. Ángels are seeing God constantly while they take care of us

As the lower frequencies carry the mid and the highs adding warmth and richness that establishes greater resolution that carries the rest, and far. We notice, after so many yards, or miles from the source (dependaing on the amplitude).... The highs and upper mids fade away, while the lows remain audible and felt. You have most certainly heard it before, but I recently discovered these videos and I am ecstatic I found them. They are presented in an excellent format and appeal to my mostly analytical way of understanding. Every one of them enriches me tremendously. I am in my “senior” years but still very much seeking more communion with God. I have also been listening to some of the podcasts. Sadly, these instructions are not found at the parish or customary meetings. I have been sharing some with my son who has stopped practicing. I have no words to properly show my appreciation to the Dominicans for this effort. You are exceptional.

When the Priest speak about angels being present at the mass he speaks of the presence of the saints in the same breath. "Together with the Angels and Saints let us pray". My question is how is the presence of the Saints at the Mass is to be understood. How it would be similar or different from that of the Angels.
The distinction that he draws in the video is instructive. One can be present in a place locally or by exercising influence there. The saints exercise influence insofar as they worship God and minister to men in peculiar fashion in the context of the sacred liturgy.

I see the angel as patterns of being, like when someone is angry, he can be possessed by that anger, or by the god of war in another perspective. The same is true with a positive spirit or mindset. What make you believe there is an existential reality beyond a pattern in our minds.

Thank you for this teaching. It is literally a gift. I am a bit confused however, and I hope you can clarify something for me. If angels are the ones who give us inspiration to pray more during the mass and help man to be more intellectual Then what does the Holy Spirit do? I always understood it is the Holy Spirit who leads you into deep worship and personally I even feel He allows the transcending of Good ideas from God to man.
You're absolutely correct and the two sources are not in conflict. Sometimes the Holy Spirit does so directly, sometimes through the mediation of angels, sometimes through the prayers of the saints, sometimes through the inspiration of a beloved friend. God (the Holy Spirit) is not just one cause among causes. He is the universal cause operative in and through all particular causes.
Angels do smile though. Even clap and celebrate when we overcome temptations and such graceful occasions. Not the way we do in our bodies but they do. Also they can manifest as human beings or anything really when needed. St. Paul writes about this in his letter to the Hebrews (chapter 13). They have a very significant role in carrying out Jesus's grace in our lives. It is a huge blessing to get to know our guardian angels. Also St. Michael, especially in times of fear and in these last times.
I have another question please. A guardian angel is given to a human soul from the time they are alive on earth. When the human being dies, does that same guardian angel get assigned to be the g.angel of another new human person to be born, or his job as a guardian angel is completed? Or does he become an eternal companion of the one he was guardian while on earth?
St. Thomas entertains this question in ST Ia Q. 113 (aquinas101.thomisticinstitute.org/st-ia-q-113#FPQ113A9THEP1). It seems from the arguments in aa. 2, 5, and 6 that a guardian angel is always assigned to the same person as somehow better befitting divine providence. So, between your options, the latter seems more likely. Mind you, this is a matter of speculation. Let us know what you think upon reading the question.

Do you think that there are any objections to materialism regarding angels. Such as angels illuminating the mind being reduced to neuronal changes and subconcious processes?
In arguing materialism, it's not always advantageous to start with the immaterial. St. Thomas himself admits that the reason we know that angels exist is because God reveals it in the Scripture. We cannot reason back to angels from observable realities in the world. There are no created effects specific to angels that cannot but be reasoned back to them since they don't play a comparable to the role that God plays in created being and agency. Thus, I don't know that angels provide the best rebuke to materialism in the apologetic order. But, it's certainly helpful for one to consider the angels as a way to address one's own tacit materialistic bent.

But how do we perceive Angels? Are they the horrific chimeras who revealed themselves to Ezekiel? The beautiful hermaphrodites of Renaissance Annunciations?
They Would “see” and “hear” via clairvoyance. As far as passions go, we need to deal with long lasting myths/legends/stories like Genesis 6 (see LXX translation), jubilee,1Enoch, Jasper, etc. Perhaps the experience of these passions is retained after possession of human beings. Also, if angels have PK capacity, they may be able to “manifest” physical bodies via pk…

On a slightly different topic, how does "Accidents as opposed to substance" and "Accidents as opposed to essence" differ and relate specifically to the communion wine and/or host? For example, if a priest can get drunk off of communion wine, we would I presume say that the essence of wine includes alcohol, and an accident of that essence might be red or white wine. Clearly however we know that priests can get drunk off of communion wine and indeed that the essence of wine remains, so there must be something different between substance and essence? Does transubstantiation teach that the essence remains? Would it be analogous to you and I being human, that being our universal essence, but our substance is what individuates us? So what is the substance of wine as opposed to essence of wine, and what are the accidents of the essence of wine, and accidents of the substance of wine? How can I better understand this?

Hi, could anyone enlighten what was happening in the Book of Tobit and Angel Raphael? Was he temporarily contained by God on earth or was he merely exercising his influence? The latter is a little hard to believe seeing as the book seems so literal.
I was wondering, in the book of Genesis, creation of angels were never mentioned in the "First Story of Creation." At what point in the creation narrative, angels came into being? Then the existence of angels and fallen angels suddenly appeared on Genesis Chap 3, the devil depicted as a serpent and a cherubim guarding the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Some Fathers of the Church understand the creation of angels to have occurred with the pronouncement, "Let there be light." There is room for speculation on this matter, though.

@@L1011MD11 Hmm . . . a good question. In this passage, the separation of light and darkness is described as the result of God's agency. Now, for the fallen angels (demons), their choice to turn from God is in no wise caused by God. God does not will their perdition, but rather only wills punishment as the effect of their choice. So, provided we make the necessary clarifications as concerns agency, I think that your reading is interesting. You might look into what some of the Fathers of the Church have said on the issue. They're good resources for allegorical interpretations of the Scriptures.

Angels are subtle bodies - dreamed from light (as opposed to ours from earth), and that is why they can be everywhere including beyond time by the will of God who sanctified them as well to be in his presence, but other than that, their nature is LOWER than on man. They have no personhood (weren't created in the image of God), no morals other than God's commands (no knowledge of good and evil as man who ate from the tree), have subtle firey forms which are different depends on their rank, which is a hybrid of human and animal forms (as taught to us by the holy Tertullianus), hence their knowledge (other than that which is given to them specifically by God in order to be messengers to humans - angel means messenger and is not necessarily the angelic beings you refer to) is an instinctive animal-like knowledge, and not the transcendent one like with us, since in our souls we are endowed with the spark of the divine essence, by the breath of the Father in the Holy Spirit, and that is why Angels behave like little children and animals with immoral instinctive passions, and thus some are able to sin and fall like the fallen angels by ACCIDENT not consciously, as Satan the Cheruv did by being consumed with jealousy towards Man, because he was made (despite having a lesser material body) on a higher level of existence than Angels, and wanted his place, and so he gathered weak susceptible Seraphs and deceived them into sin by seducing them with the daughters of Man, and so by their instinctive animal passions of theirs, they fell into sin by accident, and once they did, there was no turning back, no door to repentance, as with men, since Angels, not created in the image of God, have no absolute free will, only animal wills which come from their nature, as opposed to man, which has a divine free will, and with it the ability to CREATE, so once they sin, their souls are contaminated forever. I'm an Irish Catholic by birth but agnostic. Religion to me is normally repulsive however there's something about these videos I enjoy. I'm not subscribed to anything religious on RUclips but I am going to subscribe to this channel.

Having listened to the chant "Agni Parthene" when they sing "More Glorious than the Seraphim" as a part of the stanza, seeing that chart of the different Choirs of the Angelic Host, it really drives home just how incredible and revered the Church sees Mary to be.

You have most certainly heard it before, but I recently discovered these videos and I am ecstatic I found them. They are presented in an excellent format and appeal to my mostly analytical way of understanding. Every one of them enriches me tremendously. I am in my “senior” years but still very much seeking more communion with God. I have also been listening to some of the podcasts. Sadly, these instructions are not found at the parish or customary meetings. I have been sharing some with my son who has stopped practicing. When the Priest speak about angels being present at the mass he speaks of the presence of the saints in the same breath. "Together with the Angels and Saints let us pray". My question is how is the presence of the Saints at the Mass is to be understood. How it would be similar or different from that of the Angels.
The distinction that he draws in the video is instructive. One can be present in a place locally or by exercising influence there. The saints exercise influence insofar as they worship God and minister to men in peculiar fashion in the context of the sacred liturgy.

I see the angel as patterns of being, like when someone is angry, he can be possessed by that anger, or by the god of war in another perspective.
The same is true with a positive spirit or mindset. What make you believe there is an existential reality beyond a pattern in our minds.

Thank you for this teaching. It is literally a gift. I am a bit confused however, and I hope you can clarify something for me. If angels are the ones who give us inspiration to pray more during the mass and help man to be more intellectual Then what does the Holy Spirit do? I always understood it is the Holy Spirit who leads you into deep worship and personally I even feel He allows the transcending of Good ideas from God to man.
You're absolutely correct and the two sources are not in conflict. Sometimes the Holy Spirit does so directly, sometimes through the mediation of angels, sometimes through the prayers of the saints, sometimes through the inspiration of a beloved friend. God (the Holy Spirit) is not just one cause among causes. He is the universal cause operative in and through all particular causes.

Angels do smile though. Even clap and celebrate when we overcome temptations and such graceful occasions. Not the way we do in our bodies but they do. Also they can manifest as human beings or anything really when needed. St. Paul writes about this in his letter to the Hebrews (chapter 13).
They have a very significant role in carrying out Jesus's grace in our lives. It is a huge blessing to get to know our guardian angels. Also St. Michael, especially in times of fear and in these last times.

I have another question please. A guardian angel is given to a human soul from the time they are alive on earth. When the human being dies, does that same guardian angel get assigned to be the g.angel of another new human person to be born, or his job as a guardian angel is completed? Or does he become an eternal companion of the one he was guardian while on earth?
St. Thomas entertains this question in ST Ia Q. 113 (aquinas101.thomisticinstitute.org/st-ia-q-113#FPQ113A9THEP1). It seems from the arguments in aa. 2, 5, and 6 that a guardian angel is always assigned to the same person as somehow better befitting divine providence. So, between your options, the latter seems more likely. Mind you, this is a matter of speculation. Let us know what you think upon reading the question.

Do you think that there are any objections to materialism regarding angels. Such as angels illuminating the mind being reduced to neuronal changes and subconcious processes?
In arguing materialism, it's not always advantageous to start with the immaterial. St. Thomas himself admits that the reason we know that angels exist is because God reveals it in the Scripture. We cannot reason back to angels from observable realities in the world. There are no created effects specific to angels that cannot but be reasoned back to them since they don't play a comparable to the role that God plays in created being and agency. Thus, I don't know that angels provide the best rebuke to materialism in the apologetic order. But, it's certainly helpful for one to consider the angels as a way to address one's own tacit materialistic bent.

As far as passions go, we need to deal with long lasting myths/legends/stories like Genesis 6 (see LXX translation), jubilee,1Enoch, Jasper, etc. Perhaps the experience of these passions is retained after possession of human beings.

On a slightly different topic, how does "Accidents as opposed to substance" and "Accidents as opposed to essence" differ and relate specifically to the communion wine and/or host?
For example, if a priest can get drunk off of communion wine, we would I presume say that the essence of wine includes alcohol, and an accident of that essence might be red or white wine. Clearly however we know that priests can get drunk off of communion wine and indeed that the essence of wine remains, so there must be something different between substance and essence?
Does transubstantiation teach that the essence remains?
Would it be analogous to you and I being human, that being our universal essence, but our substance is what individuates us?
So what is the substance of wine as opposed to essence of wine, and what are the accidents of the essence of wine, and accidents of the substance of wine?
How can I better understand this?

Hi, could anyone enlighten what was happening in the Book of Tobit and Angel Raphael? Was he temporarily contained by God on earth or was he merely exercising his influence? The latter is a little hard to believe seeing as the book seems so literal.
I was wondering, in the book of Genesis, creation of angels were never mentioned in the "First Story of Creation." At what point in the creation narrative, angels came into being? Then the existence of angels and fallen angels suddenly appeared on Genesis Chap 3, the devil depicted as a serpent and a cherubim guarding the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Some Fathers of the Church understand the creation of angels to have occurred with the pronouncement, "Let there be light." There is room for speculation on this matter, though.

Would it be also wise to understand that when God separated the "Light" from the "Darkness" meant to be that St Michael the Archangel and the other Holy Angels remained in the light ( "Deum de Deo, Lumen de Lumine") and the fallen angels were driven out of heaven into the darkness (absence of God) of Hell in reference to Gen 1: 3-5?
@@L1011MD11 Hmm . . . a good question. In this passage, the separation of light and darkness is described as the result of God's agency. Now, for the fallen angels (demons), their choice to turn from God is in no wise caused by God. God does not will their perdition, but rather only wills punishment as the effect of their choice. So, provided we make the necessary clarifications as concerns agency, I think that your reading is interesting. You might look into what some of the Fathers of the Church have said on the issue. They're good resources for allegorical interpretations of the Scriptures.
