Thanks Michael. Very quick and to the point. I have to agree with others. Never glue the bridge leave it movable. Never glue the lid just use small nails and put corner protectors on. Reason: easier to repair without tearing up the box.
I never glue the bridge down, or the box, near impossible to replace/repair. Floating bridge is meant to be able to move to adjust the Intonation! Just the way I build but I believe a whole lot easier if repairs needed down the road!
Nice thankyou I'm working on a cigarbox too only its gona be I guess you call it resinater style I'm gona use a brass spitoon with biscuit in the center
I do not play the guitar. My youngest son does. I build 'em -- he plays 'em. I've built him a few electric, and acoustic, cigar box guitars, a shovel guitar, and even a shovel bass guitar. All of them play like a dream. They're really fun to build, but none of the are perfect. But...they play...perfectly. What endears me to them the most is that they originated out of imperfection, poverty, desire, and poor man's ingenuity. Make 'em gritty I say. Keep 'em real. But that's just me.
Two ways: You can purchase a fret guide from Stu Mac, or just make your own template using a guitar for a guide. Hold a piece of !/2" x 2" stick against a guitar and make marks. Then use a straight edge.
Michael Bronco Enjoyed your video. I used Lowes Swanson yardstick with millimeters & inches on it for under 3 bucks and used the free Stu Mac fret calculator. mm made it easier for me on my first and only build…so far. Working on a uke right now.

Great guide! Hoping that when school starts I can use the workshop and materials to build a nice one.
