  • What Happened: Season 1 Episode 1
    In 2001, Disney's California Adventure would open to the public, featuring a more limited selection of attractions compared to what we have today. But one of those few attractions from opening day that didn't survive past the parks 10 year anniversary was, the Maliboomer. The Maliboomer was a 3 tower drop ride produced by S&S, and was a very popular model at the time, being built at many different amusment parks including Knott's Berry Farm just 10 minutes away from Disneyland. The ride ended up being torn down in mid 2010, due to the parks' new plan to update everything, to make it feel less like a budget park. So anyways, today, we dive into the Maliboomers' history and talk about how it started, how it ended, and what replaced it.

    To me Maliboomer was the most beloved ride at Disney's California Adventure

    Back when this closed, they likely didnt have the Pixar pier vision yet. They could have easily re-themed this into Buzz Lightyears Space Shot. "To infinity and beyond!" Launch!

    Maliboomer was my favorite ride. I remember when I went in 2012 and I was upset that it was gone. I WILL NEVER FORGET

    I had only ever briefly heard of this ride, but I haven’t heard anyone really talking about it, it’s great to see a video about it

      Yeah, there's a lot of older rides from Disney's California Adventure that never really seem to get talked about often, other than superstar limo which people constantly bring up

    I visited DCA mid-demo of Maliboomer. I can honestly say that it was, in fact, literally "cut" from the park, as in order to remove it, it was necessary to cut off large "slices" of each tower, lower them to the ground and haul them away.

    My mom wouldn't let me ride this our first few trips to Disneyland, eventually she relented circa 2007,
    One thing you didn't mention is how the ride wasn't open to the air, you had a plexiglass shield in front of you on your harness, from what i heard, it was to keep the throw up from hitting people on the ground

    • @AmusementParkFan
      @AmusementParkFan  3 дня назад

      Yeah, it's strange how they added those shields to the ride. I think it was due to the sound that they added them, just like with the scream tunnels incredicoaster

    This tower blocked screaming

      Yep, it's so strange looking at old photos of that

    I feel like most of the paradise gardens park really needs a glow up tbh. I know it’s like “the kiddie area” but PLEASE. I really hope they but the coco area over there in the back.

    • @AmusementParkFan
      @AmusementParkFan  4 дня назад +1

      I wouldn't say it's a "kiddy area" necessarily, but it is the last area in the park that consists of mostly carnival rides, I would like to see it redone into something better

      @@rahasanum oh it’s coming. Coco area and Even Avatar land. That gate opens up to massive parking lot next to Pixar hotel. You will see the new expansion happening here. Stay tuned.

      @ do we know where the avatar land will be??? Cuz honestly I feel like they can’t really take anything out of DCA. Like they HARDLY have enough rides compared to Disneyland rn. I hope it’s some sort of add on, maybe like behind Ariel’s and the rapids kinda like in the parking lot. I was thinking maybe they will take out monsters Inc but is there REALLY enough room over there for a whole land??? I was also maybe thinking they would take out grizzly peak and soarin but they can’t do that, that’s like what makes DCA, DCA. I honestly feel like avatar doesn’t fit in DCA and they probably should just do a 3rd park or something. Rip out of the hotels and build a few new ones or something.

      @Ruinedbyai2 3 дня назад +1

      @ they will remove nothing. Expect massive dca expansion behind paradise pier. To the left of the Pixar hotel. With the massive parking lot next as I clearly said above ;)

      I heard Avatar could maybe replace the Hollywood area, but I don't think anythings been confirmed yet

    Beloved by who? Everyone hated it and it wasnt even popular lol its funny tho that it had a bad rep and was removed for being a generic mass produced attraction yet was replaced nearly a decade later by a generic mass produced attraction they moved from another area of the park and just rethemed lol

    • @AmusementParkFan
      @AmusementParkFan  3 дня назад

      Not everyone hated it. Many people I've talked to who visited the park back when they had the maliboomer said it was one of their favorite rides there!

      Same here. Mailboomer was a cheesy ride that epitomized the 2nd-rate nature of DCA. In 2001, Tokyo got DisneySea, while Anaheim got Six Flags over Disney.
