Champion pneumatic Princeton, Illinois. Best compressors made. I have one dated 1951 and works perfect and one like your 80gal. R15 2 stage pump 5hp 240v
Porque le entra agua al motor si el purgador esta contínuamente expulsando el agua del ambiente mediante la valvula. No aguanta ni 2 dias y ya se volvio a llenar de agua. Es un compresot champion centurion 2
I've got that exact crapsman oiless and to counteract that deafening rattle I made a simple muffler out of pvc for the intake. it's still loud but not as teeth jarring.
It sure beats the pants off of that Craftsman in all regards... If you can hang a Quilt on the wall behind it, that will probably cut the noise even more because it won't be able to Bounce off the Quilt like it does the wood... Good Comparison video guys
Great stuff, both have around the same decibel but the craftsman runs at a higher pitch since it has a smaller compressor, so it is irritating to hear. Its like comparing a single cylinder 2 stroke to a 4 stroke, 4 strokes are pleasent to hear. The champion being a bigger compressor only needs to chug chaya chug and she's all filled up, less wear and tear on the compressor too!!!! Hell yeah. Plus older stuff, man were built beefier, ran perfectly smooth, motor, pulley and crankshaft were all balanced. good quality craftsmanship and ingenuity was very much the norm 3-4 decades ago. Not anymore. So when you do find a vintage compressor, freaking grab it. One can always pair the vintage compressor with a new tank or and a new electric motor.
We have a 1942 Quincy 210 I think. It's quiet and 2 stage at 175 and is capable of 200 psi. We rebuilt the motor and compressor. Your air tools have 3 times the power on 175 psi
Quincy and Champion are the best you can get and they are the only two still built in the USA!! I don't know of any air tools designed to run on 175 psi!!☺
It's fine. My dad has been running his same air tools ratted for 90psi off the 175 psi for like 20 years they get used a lot. Same ones for 20 years on 175 psi is pretty good just make sure you put some oil in the gun once and a while :)
I hate those noisy ass direct drive oil-less compressors! I had one and it drove me crazy. I went to air up a tire last month and it pumped about a minute and froze up. I tore it apart and got a new compressor, belt driven 5 HP with an oil reservoir under the pump. It is so much nicer!!! I took the old noisy compressor and turned it into a portable air tank. It real handy with the wheels and handle on it!.
I can bare with the 80 gallon sound. I can’t stand that oiless sound though. I sprayed a whole Dodge Ram truck with my 33 gallon tank. It was not fun at all hahaha. I just purchased an 80 tank. American Air Compressor Corporation is the name and it has the General Electric logo as well for $300. But when I tried the compressor before buying the noise it made was bearable. Now I have to figure out who can run a 220v to my garage
805ROADKING I've noticed that my vacuum cleaner is VERY loud..so much so that I've started wearing ear protection. No one seems to rate cleaners with regard to their noise..only hard to demonstrate "cleaning ability". It's something that begs to be looked into! :) Jack
Just saw your comparison. They make commercial mufflers for compressors like your new one -- OR-- you could make one from two lawnmower mufflers and a propain cylinder.
Nah Different Company!! This Company only builds compressors!! They have been making them in The USA since 1919!! They are only one of two companies that still make them in America eh!!☺
I got a 40 gallon devilbiss! Its an old girl for sure. uncle gave it to me! 1971 I think! Takes a little while to get full though. But it runs nice and quiet! Probably could use a new motor it just puts along!
i have a baldor motor on my champion & i have had nothing but trouble with this compressor . 1st the pressure switch messed up in the 1st hour .2nd the after cooler started to leak after 6 hours of run time. now after 20 hours my motor just died not happy out of warrenty total BS for what you pay for these things

Those oil less ones give me an ear ache I'll take the old school one ..You are a nice Guy to give Racer the other one
Thanks Bud!! It's better than the one he has plus He's always helping me out with something!!☺

Need a belt guard..for safety...on it..
Also ad a 5 inch pipe tp raise the air filter..it will help lower noise level..on your unit..a little
Nice set up, guys .I spotted the snowblower you need to do a cold start on that pretty soon . Gerry
I think I only used it once last year!! I have a feeling we won't get away with that too often!!☺

I always hated that Craftsman!!☺
I got that same Craftsman compressor in the garage. I use hearing protection when I flip it on. LOL
It's a great Lil' Compressor and it does what it's suppose to do but it's so goddamn loud eh!!☺
805ROADKING
Yeah man, we had another craftsman before this one and it was quiet, but the tank was little.
That's like comparing a chainsaw to a Ford F350. The Craftsman has to run at twice the rpm to compensate for the lack of cubic inches.

Apparently not quieter but a much more pleasant sound.

I like the older piston compressor also.

All in the interest of preserving hearing! :D Jack
I don't know how they get away with selling something like that!!☺

is that by the same Champion company that makes spark plugs and stuff?
Nah Different Company!! This Company only builds compressors!! They have been making them in The USA since 1919!! They are only one of two companies that still make them in America eh!!☺
Definitely a much better compressor.
Yeah I had one similar to that back in the 70's and I really missed it!! This one should be around for Racer to pass on to his Grandkids eh!!☺
Fills quicker and empties slower....That's good enough for me.
Yeah Buddy!! The noise level is just a bonus!!☺
Cast iron makes a big difference too. I have an 80 gal two stage with an aluminum pump. That thing will rattle your brain!
Yeah that cast is some dense stuff!!☺
Off the scales :D You'd need ear plugs for that old one.
That goddamn thing puts out just as many decibles as Lil Racers Harley with open pipes!!☺
I got a 40 gallon devilbiss! Its an old girl for sure. uncle gave it to me! 1971 I think! Takes a little while to get full though. But it runs nice and quiet! Probably could use a new motor it just puts along!
Sounds like you got a keeper there Scoot!!☺
Nice compressor ! I have a 20 gallon Oiless which is way louder than my 60 Gallon twin cylider compressor
Those oilless are the worst things they ever came out with!!☺
ROADKING IT WAS SO LOUD I THINK I COULD HEAR IT UP HERE IN CANADA
LOL KEN
LOL!! I WOULDN'T DOUBT IT KEN!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I PUT UP WITH ALL THAT RACKET FOR SO LONG!!☺
never really liked the oilless compressors. the champion is a much better setup
I've hated that oilless thing since the day I bought it!!☺
