I can understand your situation but it is now a good thing to be able to speak Tagalog when you live in the Philippines. Glad you have a desire to learn Tagalog. I made a mistake of not teaching my children Tagalog except very few words when they were little because I was conscious of my ex husband not being able to understand the language. The few times we visited the family in the Philippines, I tried to get their cousins to teach them but they would rather practise their English with my children. Now, my daughter is blaming me for not teaching them when they were little. I regret it too as it would be nice if they could speak and understand Tagalog.

I’m 100% Filipino and my parents speak both Tagalog and English everyday but my first language is English because I live in Hong Kong. I can understand Tagalog very well but for some reason I can’t speak it. I’m most confident in English, a bit less confident in (Chinese)Cantonese and I’m a bit confident in Tagalog but not a lot.
I'm more comfortable writing in Tagalog/Filipino than speaking it lol. Probably because I also came from the Visayas region. My voice changes in tone for some reason. XD English is my go-to language.
Who cares if you are not 100% fluent in speaking Tagalog? Basta magtagalog ka lang kung anong mga words ang alam mo, tapos pag nasa Visayas ka speak Visayan. Just consider your Tagalog with Visayan accent as another dialect of Tagalog, like how Tagalog spoken in Manila is very different from Tagalog spoken in Quezon or Batangas… Problema na nila yon kung hindi ka nila maintindihan...

Here in our house, we speak ilonggo, bisaya (cebu dialect), tagalog and english. And because of that we are always exposed to it. Its just so cool because sometimes we are mixing it 😂😂😂

ohmayghad same, sometimes when I bring my friends home and I talk to my dad in cebuano and illongo mix, they were like 'huh?'. And I often speaks a word that they don't understand (both my ilongo and cebuano friends) cuz i don't know what or how to translate it, so i ended up saying it in tagalog or in english.
That moment when you're trying to learn our language to make it as your 3rd official language and for me, I'm trying to learn Korean as my 3rd. Well, its so hard to study Korean by myself but its fun at the same time. No one is helping me to learn Korean so its pretty challenging. But I'm happy to say that I'm kinda used to Korean already since I always watch dramas, variety shows, and even bunch of movies especially if I have spare time. Dont worry jess, i am from aklan which is in panay island we speak aklanon there and i studied my university in iloilo which is 3 hrs bus away from my hometown where they speak dialect “ilonggo”which i never know even if im filipino. in my ist day of school i spoke tagalog & english because ive no choice, i cant understand ilonggo too. Haha its the same as coming from a different language or dialect, totally understandable! Btw, your english is amazing too! If you speak english among other people who are also comfortable replying in english, then there's no reason to stop you from doing so. Also another thing to consider is when to use it, if someone speaks to you in tagalog, then answer in tagalog, using english on such occasion will definitely raise ire of some people as you would definitely come across as condescending if you keep using english on people who are not comfortable with it. Find the balance between them, for those who keeps judging you, that you do it cause you want to be proficient and not to be an asshole, if they still judge you ignore them.
+koushinproductions yeah. you're right but I am more conscious on the people who hears me or us. like whenever we talk in conversational English with my friends in a public place. They'll look at us as if we talked in another language that is not so common.
Just ignore it, stop thinking what other people might think of you, as long as what you are doing are not harming others, you're doing nothing wrong. Also you'll never really know what really are in their heads, they might be just impressed, or they maybe judging you as conyo, we can never really tell and we must not assume. You should start to train yourself to not be too conscious of what everyone thinks of you, as minding too much of what others think is detrimental to your happiness and your mental well-being. Remember you are living to better yourself, not for the satisfaction of people who don't even know or care about you. Point in case, as long as you don't harm or inconvenience other people by what you are doing, then you are doing nothing wrong. Stay positive, be yourself 😊
Aesel Lee if you're a foreigner or someone who grew up on foreign countries, that's understandable. But if you were raised on a local family, especially when you can both speak tagalog informally, its a different matter. I'm actually better than English than Tagalog, but I don't want to compromise it, especially when I'm speaking with the local townsfolk or friends, unless I'm required to like in work or school. I don't want to lose my identity as a Filipino. This is an example of a Filipino who compromised her nationality. I'm a Filipino student who studied abroad for 15 years (I'm 16 now) and I only started to study here in the Philippines for this school year of 2018-2019. Even so, I still studied in a Philippine School since kinder. Though I am exposed to both English and Tagalog because of school and my household and the fact that I could speak both languages well, my Tagalog isn't THAT fluent because I can't really understand most of the literary works of Filipinos (i.e El Filibusterismo). I guess the only key for learning Tagalog or any language is to surround yourself with people who use them often. It's kind of sad that your classmates speak English as their conversation language. Tagalog is such a flowery language and I hope you continue to learn it! (P.S your accent when speaking English and Tagalog are the cutest thing ever!) It’s still really cool how you’ve been exposed to the lifestyles of both countries! I’m Fil-Am but my mom is from Bacolod and my dad is from Cavite/Manila (mainly speaks English though since he moved to the US when he was younger). I hear a lot of Ilonggo and some Tagalog but my parents decided not to teach me any of it and I only understand like 15-20% of the languages😞 I’m hoping to eventually set aside time to learn Tagalog (maybe Ilonggo too!) so I can get more in touch with my culture and communicate better with my relatives in the PH.
The best thing probably about Tagalog is the versatility of Tagalog's grammar. You can either use the Subject - Verb - Object pattern, Verb - Subject - Object pattern and even Verb - Object - Subject pattern and it will still be considered as correct. The grammar is also the hardest to learn. Even us native Tagalog speakers make mistakes in our grammar. Filipino (The official language of the Philippines which is based on the Tagalog dialect) is ranked 20 of the hardest language to learn for English speakers. So using English as a medium to learn Tagalog will make you progress in learning the Tagalog language really slow. Anyways I guarantee you that learning it will be fun, especially the grammar part where you add prefixes, infixes and suffixes to change a word to different forms. Keep on learning the language! I've been living in south korea for 3 years now and my korean is still pretty basic. Fortunately a lot of koreans are very understanding and patient with me. Haha! So give your best to learn tagalog and I'll give my best to learn hangeul. Good luck to us! Haha!

Btw my first linggo is Tagalog and the second language is of course English but because i love Korea, I also want to learn korean maybe its because its cool or it will be much easier for me to watch korean dramas sand stuffs. I’ve lived in the Philippines for 11 years since I was one and I live in mindanao where I was not exposed to a lot of Tagalog but because of tv shows I could understand it but not speak it. weird thing tho, I was kind of pressured to learn Tagalog when I came to Canada since most of my Filipino friends were born in the Philippines and they speak Tagalog so I had to fit in 😂 my grammars pretty bad but I can communicate. Tagalog is a hard language and I did not do well in my Filipino subject back in elementary 💀😵
I'm a Cebuano. I studied English & Tagalog in my elementary, high school & College days. I studied Nihongo for about 1 yr and 3 months.. Also I studying German Language B1 in 6 months as a requirement for a Nurse to work in Germany.. Until now, I'm not fluent in English & Tagalog either..
When I was younger I had no idea how to speak Tagalog, I was raised in the States and lived there for 11 years then moved back and knew nothing! At first when I moved here I didn't care much for the language but after a few years I realized how beautiful it was and eventually I became fluent. I love my country and I hope you'll be able to learn Tagalog soon!

Sorry for what I gonna say but me as a Filipino is disappointed to parents that wanted they kid to learn English than the local language it's like they think it's cool or they kids will be part of an elite society or they have these mind will gonna migrated soon in other countries not thinking that their the one who's pushing away they kids to be Filipino...and when you talk with them in Tagalog or other local dialects they will respond you "sorry can't understand you, English plz", and I just say "wow! Where are you from?" Then "I'm from here, I'm a Filipino..my. Parents doesn't want us to learn Tagalog" and they acting like their are never been a Filipino even though they never been in other countries...it's really make me upset.. that's why I love foreigners eager and loving to learn Tagalog... hopefully you can learn Tagalog like other celebrity Korean here...
tbh...learning English nowadays is mandatory. one reason is so that you'll be globally competitive when you start working. as they say, English is the universal language. What's wrong with learning it? You'll know in the future why they keep on bugging you to learn it. And it's not like it'll make you less Filipino if you speak in English.

English is universal, but it shouldn't be the dominant language of the Philippines, or else what makes us different? Other south east asian nations are doing so well in the economy, but still maintain their culture and language and tradition. English is now seen as a way to Categories people by class which is so so so bad.

Filipinos love their Taglish. Tagalog with random English words thrown in. I started doing the opposite. English with Tagalog words thrown in and then to increase the frequency of Tagalog words. If you're not great, I noticed that Filipinos really appreciate your efforts to learn their language - even simple things like kumusta, paalam, cge cge, magkano, nakakapagpabagabag, nasaan ang CR, etc.

Some/us filipinos (esp those who aren't living in luzon or manila) aren't fluent in tagalog cos we're used to use our local dialects. That's why it's honestly understandable for foreigners not to be able to speak or aren't fluent in Tagalog at all.

Don’t ever set a ceiling, the only limits you will ever have are the ones you set for yourself... I was almost 15 when we moved to Australia, I already spoke Tagalog, kapampangan, Ilocano and English... then I got my first office job with Lufthansa, where I quickly learned that I needed to teach myself conversational German... also learned conversational Portuguese coz of one of our regular travel agents... my Spanish also got better in the process... then around early to mid 2000’s, I got into taekwondo and even spent a few mths in Korea for training... yup, I forced myself to learn some Korean to get me by... I think that you can learn a third language if you really put your mind to it, additionally, you’re in the best place to learn since you live in the Phils which means that you’d get a chance to practice....

in my school, there are a lot of korean students and they have their own filipino subject where they are taught how to speak in tagalog, and within the 3 years of meeting them, they got so much better,, people probably have different ways and paces of learning but you'll get better, i promise!!
I bet the hours/days you are exposed to Tagalog is fewer than the hours I am exposed to Korean language (from Korean Dramas to Variety Shows which I watch almost every day for 10 years now) but still I can't even have a conversation in Korean... I know some Korean phrases but if somebody replies back in Korean I wouldn't have any idea what it was. So I salute to you for having the courage and interest in learning Tagalog. Big respect.

That's totally understandable. I have a korean friend whom I spent four years in university with here in the Philippines and she's not really fluent in tagalog too and that's absolutely fine. She came here to learn english and in most of our classes our professors use english language to teach.
I'm a Filipino-Canadian who moved to Canada at age 11. I moved back to the Philippines (in my 40s) to explore business opportunities and realized my tagalog 'speaking' was terrible. I could understand well but speaking is a different matter. What I did was read tagalog comic books (Pugad Baboy) and translated the tagalog to english. A month or so later, I would return to the translated to english and attempt to convert it back to tagalog on my own (no looking). I would compare my tagalog translation to the original tagalog in the comic book to see how close I got it. I did this daily and after 4 years, I found myself speaking tagalog quite well.

many people in Davao City or in Mindanao learn many dialects & languages at the same time when they begin to learn they early language as a toddler. It comes very natural to us. It is given, that we learn English and Tagalog in school, supplement by reading magazines/books and TV shows. We also know our Bisaya Dialect. And because Davao is a melting pot, there are a lot of Ilongos there, which is also similar to Bisaya, that's why it is easy to learn Ilongo. Plus because my father spoke Hokkien, and we only spoke Hokkien with him. The school I went to had a full course of Mandarin classes in Chinese History, Chinese Literature, Chinese Math, Chinese Language, etc. Our school from Kinder 1 & 2 was already Tri-lingual and it was a half-day school. Then Grade 1 through 4th yr high school, flag ceremony at 7:30am, classes started at 8 am -12 noon for the English, then 1pm-4:30pm for the Chinese, then Saturdays 8am-12 noon for the Chinese. We spent a lot of time in school, Plus sports activities or special art classes. At that time I hated it. But now I am so proud of it and I wish I have children I could send to that school again.
Hi, Jessica, I suggest that you should listen to OPM music (80s and 90s OPM are great), Rey Valera's compositions are highly recommended bcos they are slow, mellow and romantic (mostly sung by Sharon Cuneta) and the 'OPM wedding favorites' too, like 'Ikaw', 'Ngayon at Kailanman'. I have a friend who migrated in Italy when she was a teen and she listened to Italian songs w/c help her to learn the language easily. And I saw old Filipino films here in YT, that might also help you bcos their dialogues are clear and a bit slower-- you might also pick up some 'deep' Tagalog words ;)
Hmm... I don't think learning to read Tagalog literature is that important. You can even just switch between Tagalog and English since English has been used as a substitute for many, many Tagalog words. I know how to speak and understand Tagalog since I lived around Manila when I lived in the Philippines but there hasn't been a time where I couldn't use English to fully communicate what I wanted to say. Half English, half Tagalog isn't that bad! But if you really want to fully learn the language one day, then go for it! 😊 Thanks for another video! Have a nice day! 😎

It's okay Jess! Everyone has their own pace in learning, you're doing just fine. Patience is a virtue and I know you'll get to it in the future... By the way, it's Filipino(Philippine's National Language) not Tagalog just so you know. It has a very long story why it was changed and I recommend you to study the history of Philippines's language also to be able to understand it better.
About college students from large university that is always speaking english . thats very true! But for me its kinda sad that some students (i saw them on the mall) they speak english like they tolerate theirselves too much, i wish they could balance speaking both language ,And if you're a filipino highschool student from a normal school ,speaking english is a bit awkward 'coz confidence isnt developed yet. Same thing happened with my japanese cousins. They used to speak tagalog when they were little, but now they can't even speak tagalog anymore.
I felt the same about my Mom not teaching me and my sister Tagalog when we were little haha but it is hard if the other partner isn't Filipino

I’m 100% Filipino and my parents speak both Tagalog and English everyday but my first language is English because I live in Hong Kong. I can understand Tagalog very well but for some reason I can’t speak it. I’m most confident in English, a bit less confident in (Chinese)Cantonese and I’m a bit confident in Tagalog but not a lot.
I'm more comfortable writing in Tagalog/Filipino than speaking it lol. Probably because I also came from the Visayas region. My voice changes in tone for some reason. XD English is my go-to language.

Who cares if you are not 100% fluent in speaking Tagalog? Basta magtagalog ka lang kung anong mga words ang alam mo, tapos pag nasa Visayas ka speak Visayan. Just consider your Tagalog with Visayan accent as another dialect of Tagalog, like how Tagalog spoken in Manila is very different from Tagalog spoken in Quezon or Batangas…

And I often speaks a word that they don't understand (both my ilongo and cebuano friends) cuz i don't know what or how to translate it, so i ended up saying it in tagalog or in english.
That moment when you're trying to learn our language to make it as your 3rd official language and for me, I'm trying to learn Korean as my 3rd. Well, its so hard to study Korean by myself but its fun at the same time. No one is helping me to learn Korean so its pretty challenging. But I'm happy to say that I'm kinda used to Korean already since I always watch dramas, variety shows, and even bunch of movies especially if I have spare time. Dont worry jess, i am from aklan which is in panay island we speak aklanon there and i studied my university in iloilo which is 3 hrs bus away from my hometown where they speak dialect “ilonggo”which i never know even if im filipino. in my ist day of school i spoke tagalog & english because ive no choice, i cant understand ilonggo too. Haha its the same as coming from a different language or dialect, totally understandable! Btw, your english is amazing too! If you speak english among other people who are also comfortable replying in english, then there's no reason to stop you from doing so. Also another thing to consider is when to use it, if someone speaks to you in tagalog, then answer in tagalog, using english on such occasion will definitely raise ire of some people as you would definitely come across as condescending if you keep using english on people who are not comfortable with it. Find the balance between them, for those who keeps judging you, that you do it cause you want to be proficient and not to be an asshole, if they still judge you ignore them.
+koushinproductions yeah. you're right but I am more conscious on the people who hears me or us. like whenever we talk in conversational English with my friends in a public place. They'll look at us as if we talked in another language that is not so common.
Just ignore it, stop thinking what other people might think of you, as long as what you are doing are not harming others, you're doing nothing wrong. Also you'll never really know what really are in their heads, they might be just impressed, or they maybe judging you as conyo, we can never really tell and we must not assume. You should start to train yourself to not be too conscious of what everyone thinks of you, as minding too much of what others think is detrimental to your happiness and your mental well-being. Remember you are living to better yourself, not for the satisfaction of people who don't even know or care about you. Point in case, as long as you don't harm or inconvenience other people by what you are doing, then you are doing nothing wrong. Stay positive, be yourself 😊

Aesel Lee if you're a foreigner or someone who grew up on foreign countries, that's understandable. But if you were raised on a local family, especially when you can both speak tagalog informally, its a different matter.
I'm actually better than English than Tagalog, but I don't want to compromise it, especially when I'm speaking with the local townsfolk or friends, unless I'm required to like in work or school. I don't want to lose my identity as a Filipino.

I'm a Filipino student who studied abroad for 15 years (I'm 16 now) and I only started to study here in the Philippines for this school year of 2018-2019. Even so, I still studied in a Philippine School since kinder. Though I am exposed to both English and Tagalog because of school and my household and the fact that I could speak both languages well, my Tagalog isn't THAT fluent because I can't really understand most of the literary works of Filipinos (i.e El Filibusterismo). I guess the only key for learning Tagalog or any language is to surround yourself with people who use them often. It's kind of sad that your classmates speak English as their conversation language. Tagalog is such a flowery language and I hope you continue to learn it! (P.S your accent when speaking English and Tagalog are the cutest thing ever!) It’s still really cool how you’ve been exposed to the lifestyles of both countries! I’m Fil-Am but my mom is from Bacolod and my dad is from Cavite/Manila (mainly speaks English though since he moved to the US when he was younger). I hear a lot of Ilonggo and some Tagalog but my parents decided not to teach me any of it and I only understand like 15-20% of the languages😞 I’m hoping to eventually set aside time to learn Tagalog (maybe Ilonggo too!) so I can get more in touch with my culture and communicate better with my relatives in the PH.

The best thing probably about Tagalog is the versatility of Tagalog's grammar. You can either use the Subject - Verb - Object pattern, Verb - Subject - Object pattern and even Verb - Object - Subject pattern and it will still be considered as correct. The grammar is also the hardest to learn. Even us native Tagalog speakers make mistakes in our grammar. Filipino (The official language of the Philippines which is based on the Tagalog dialect) is ranked 20 of the hardest language to learn for English speakers. So using English as a medium to learn Tagalog will make you progress in learning the Tagalog language really slow. Anyways I guarantee you that learning it will be fun, especially the grammar part where you add prefixes, infixes and suffixes to change a word to different forms. Keep on learning the language! I wish you luck :)
I've been living in south korea for 3 years now and my korean is still pretty basic. Fortunately a lot of koreans are very understanding and patient with me. Haha! So give your best to learn tagalog and I'll give my best to learn hangeul. Good luck to us! Haha!

I’ve lived in the Philippines for 11 years since I was one and I live in mindanao where I was not exposed to a lot of Tagalog but because of tv shows I could understand it but not speak it. weird thing tho, I was kind of pressured to learn Tagalog when I came to Canada since most of my Filipino friends were born in the Philippines and they speak Tagalog so I had to fit in 😂 my grammars pretty bad but I can communicate. Tagalog is a hard language and I did not do well in my Filipino subject back in elementary 💀😵
I'm a Cebuano. I studied English & Tagalog in my elementary, high school & College days. I studied Nihongo for about 1 yr and 3 months.. Also I studying German Language B1 in 6 months as a requirement for a Nurse to work in Germany.. Until now, I'm not fluent in English & Tagalog either..

When I was younger I had no idea how to speak Tagalog, I was raised in the States and lived there for 11 years then moved back and knew nothing! At first when I moved here I didn't care much for the language but after a few years I realized how beautiful it was and eventually I became fluent. Sorry for what I gonna say but me as a Filipino is disappointed to parents that wanted they kid to learn English than the local language it's like they think it's cool or they kids will be part of an elite society or they have these mind will gonna migrated soon in other countries not thinking that their the one who's pushing away they kids to be Filipino...and when you talk with them in Tagalog or other local dialects they will respond you "sorry can't understand you, English plz", and I just say "wow! Where are you from?" Then "I'm from here, I'm a Filipino..my. Parents doesn't want us to learn Tagalog" and they acting like their are never been a Filipino even though they never been in other countries...it's really make me upset.. that's why I love foreigners eager and loving to learn Tagalog... hopefully you can learn Tagalog like other celebrity Korean here...

English is universal, but it shouldn't be the dominant language of the Philippines, or else what makes us different? Filipinos love their Taglish. Tagalog with random English words thrown in. I started doing the opposite. English with Tagalog words thrown in and then to increase the frequency of Tagalog words. If you're not great, I noticed that Filipinos really appreciate your efforts to learn their language - even simple things like kumusta, paalam, cge cge, magkano, nakakapagpabagabag, nasaan ang CR, etc.

Some/us filipinos (esp those who aren't living in luzon or manila) aren't fluent in tagalog cos we're used to use our local dialects. That's why it's honestly understandable for foreigners not to be able to speak or aren't fluent in Tagalog at all.

I was almost 15 when we moved to Australia, I already spoke Tagalog, kapampangan, Ilocano and English... then I got my first office job with Lufthansa, where I quickly learned that I needed to teach myself conversational German... also learned conversational Portuguese coz of one of our regular travel agents... my Spanish also got better in the process... then around early to mid 2000’s, I got into taekwondo and even spent a few mths in Korea for training... yup, I forced myself to learn some Korean to get me by...
I think that you can learn a third language if you really put your mind to it, additionally, you’re in the best place to learn since you live in the Phils which means that you’d get a chance to practice....

in my school, there are a lot of korean students and they have their own filipino subject where they are taught how to speak in tagalog, and within the 3 years of meeting them, they got so much better,, people probably have different ways and paces of learning but you'll get better, i promise!!
I bet the hours/days you are exposed to Tagalog is fewer than the hours I am exposed to Korean language (from Korean Dramas to Variety Shows which I watch almost every day for 10 years now) but still I can't even have a conversation in Korean... I know some Korean phrases but if somebody replies back in Korean I wouldn't have any idea what it was. So I salute to you for having the courage and interest in learning Tagalog. Big respect.

That's totally understandable. I have a korean friend whom I spent four years in university with here in the Philippines and she's not really fluent in tagalog too and that's absolutely fine. She came here to learn english and in most of our classes our professors use english language to teach.

I'm a Filipino-Canadian who moved to Canada at age 11. I moved back to the Philippines (in my 40s) to explore business opportunities and realized my tagalog 'speaking' was terrible. I could understand well but speaking is a different matter. What I did was read tagalog comic books (Pugad Baboy) and translated the tagalog to english. A month or so later, I would return to the translated to english and attempt to convert it back to tagalog on my own (no looking). I would compare my tagalog translation to the original tagalog in the comic book to see how close I got it. I did this daily and after 4 years, I found myself speaking tagalog quite well.

speaking tagalog ONLY is hard . i always end up speaking tagalog mixed in with english aka taglish and i grew up here!! (i wasnt born here though) just keep trying you'll get it eventually! 😁
many people in Davao City or in Mindanao learn many dialects & languages at the same time when they begin to learn they early language as a toddler. It comes very natural to us.
It is given, that we learn English and Tagalog in school, supplement by reading magazines/books and TV shows. We also know our Bisaya Dialect. And because Davao is a melting pot, there are a lot of Ilongos there, which is also similar to Bisaya, that's why it is easy to learn Ilongo. Plus because my father spoke Hokkien, and we only spoke Hokkien with him. The school I went to had a full course of Mandarin classes in Chinese History, Chinese Literature, Chinese Math, Chinese Language, etc. Our school from Kinder 1 & 2 was already Tri-lingual and it was a half-day school. Then Grade 1 through 4th yr high school, flag ceremony at 7:30am, classes started at 8 am -12 noon for the English, then 1pm-4:30pm for the Chinese, then Saturdays 8am-12 noon for the Chinese. We spent a lot of time in school, Plus sports activities or special art classes. At that time I hated it. But now I am so proud of it and I wish I have children I could send to that school again.
Hi, Jessica, I suggest that you should listen to OPM music (80s and 90s OPM are great), Rey Valera's compositions are highly recommended bcos they are slow, mellow and romantic (mostly sung by Sharon Cuneta) and the 'OPM wedding favorites' too, like 'Ikaw', 'Ngayon at Kailanman'. I have a friend who migrated in Italy when she was a teen and she listened to Italian songs w/c help her to learn the language easily. And I saw old Filipino films here in YT, that might also help you bcos their dialogues are clear and a bit slower-- you might also pick up some 'deep' Tagalog words ;)

Hmm... I don't think learning to read Tagalog literature is that important. You can even just switch between Tagalog and English since English has been used as a substitute for many, many Tagalog words. I know how to speak and understand Tagalog since I lived around Manila when I lived in the Philippines but there hasn't been a time where I couldn't use English to fully communicate what I wanted to say. Half English, half Tagalog isn't that bad! But if you really want to fully learn the language one day, then go for it! 😊 Thanks for another video! Have a nice day! 😎

That's ok. No one is forcing you to speak Tagalog. Stay away from anyone who criticizes you for not knowing it. Understanding enough to get you by is enough to make it easier for your stay here.

By the way, it's Filipino(Philippine's National Language) not Tagalog just so you know. It has a very long story why it was changed and I recommend you to study the history of Philippines's language also to be able to understand it better.
About college students from large university that is always speaking english . thats very true! But for me its kinda sad that some students (i saw them on the mall) they speak english like they tolerate theirselves too much, i wish they could balance speaking both language ,And if you're a filipino highschool student from a normal school ,speaking english is a bit awkward 'coz confidence isnt developed yet.
