    1) Option to retire.

    3) Talk to your agent whenever you want to.
    4) Better track of personal achievements.

The biggest reason why I bought this for years was because of RTTS and the Year to Year Saves that ensured I wasn't sinking money into something that would be meaningless the following year. This was the case up until 21, when that went away and it got integrated with Diamond Dynasty.
That killed the mode. 18 was kinda rough with the caps they put on it which shouldn't have been there. 20 is probably my favorite of all time, then 17. If they ever return to what it was, which was a non money grabbing deal where what we invest in our guy carries over from one year to the next...then I will probably be back. I loved having my guy come up to custom themes off my system and hearing certain songs as I make my Homer trot.

Worst thing about the series, as I see it, is the complete lack record tracking. Back in the day- you could find all time records of almost every statistic. Now it’s a hollow shell- only showing career records for homers, hits, wins, and a handful of others. It feels pointless to pursue career records because there aren’t even leaderboards for it anymore. You’re either the record holder or lost to history entirely. Baseball is such a statistics based sport. Ridiculous to not include in depth stat tracking especially when games from the early 2000s did it.

I would prefer to set my own points and get rid of the DD style perks, templates were fine so long as you can crack the cap (either with equipment or as I would prefer breaking through milestones [caps are silly]). I have a lot to say about this mode.
Road to the Show was the reason I even bought the game initially in 2017. It was awesome to be a baseball god, and have no restrictions. Then in 18, they completely botched it by adding caps, 19 was a little better, but not great, and I didn't play much 20. Then in 21, they combined it with DD, which is where it took a turn for the worse. Honestly, archetypes this year were a little better, because you could improve 3 of the four main points of your player (contact, power, speed, and fielding), and the other could be improved with perks and/or equipment. With the point we're at now in 23, your archetype only improves TWO of the main points, basically taking away your ability to be a five tool player. Why the hell would they add restrictions to a role-playing game? That just makes no sense, it's like adding an easy mode to dark souls, it takes away from the purpose of the game. Why can't I just be an immaculate player in a role playing game where it's technically possible, I hate it so much. Obviously, yeah, if it's gonna be intertwined with DD, then they have to balance it, but WHY does it HAVE to be intertwined with DD? It is LAUGHABLY stupid.
(Small side rant - Why does equipment I put on my ballplayer HAVE TO SHOW UP IN GAME. Especially the socks, omg the socks are so ugly, and now in 23, you can't even change your pants style, you HAVE to play with your socks showing if you have socks equipped, it pulls me out of the game, gosh I hate it so much)
Thanks for reading this weird rant if you've made it this far

Great video, but you missed my biggest complaint about The Show 21! Yes, you can pitch and hit... But not in the same game! They sold it like "You can be Shohei!" but you can't, because Shohei goes straight from the mound to the outfield, and my guy can't play third base using his pitcher loadout (and he can't hit either). I just couldn't believe that was how they chose to implement that, admittedly cool, change to the mode.

Not to mention the rtts programs don’t track your stats for you to progress. I didn’t buy 23 because it was pretty much the same thing as 22 and I’ve been back on my rtts grind now that it’s baseball season again and I cannot progress in my programs at all. I’ve played a season and a half and am still in bronze tier. This has been an issue ever since they introduced archetypes and it hasn’t been resolved yet. I really hope 24 either fixes this problem or brings back some of the fun perks they had back in 16 as I feel that was the most fun I had playing rtts. It just hasn’t hit the same these past 4 or 5 years.

I stopped at 20. To me it's the most balanced and it feels like a proper grind. The stat gains being somewhat finicky with say losing arm accuracy no matter if you throw to the right base or not or losing power on a good swing but it feels overly fair. It makes me want to continue grinding my way up to the bigs.

-Equipment can be upgraded individually, obviously if a sleeve has more attribute than wrist bands we will wear sleeves. I’d rather upgrade the equipment you like and wear so it’s customized
    - get away with the dumb perks/load outs and make it all off attributes per points and equipment
    - bring back the performance days before the draft and maybe even a little tournament pre draft
    - if you go back to college allow us to use the points or make drills that allow us to boost our stats.
-finally make some minor award ceremony for awards won

There won't be any significant changes to MLB The Show until Last Gen is dropped completely... Also it sucks that not only have they made RTTS an "Online" Mode they have removed. The Showcase I mean at least you could affect your draft stock depending on how you played also year to year saves are " no longer possible " because of Diamond Dynasty in 21 the knuckleball was removed because of DD Integration honestly you can boot up The Show 20 and have just as much fun as the Show 24 if all you care about is RTTS

I specifically remember playing 14, 16 and 19, and having a blast with RTTS in all 3.
Then, the next one I played was 21 and I genuinely believe that that was the worst MLB The Show game ever made, or at least, the worst RTTS implementation of all time. I was extremely pissed that they completely removed the knuckleball from RTTS specifically because it was OP in DD and you could now use your RTTS olayer in DD.
I used to play baseball growing up and I was a pitcher. My stepdad also played when he was growing up and in college, and he was a pitcher too. He was a knuckleballer, so he taught me how to throw them as well and I became a knuckleballer. So not being able to throw Knuckleballs in RTTS anymore pissed me off.
Luckily, this issue was resolved in 22 when they added the Knuckleball back in but with the caveat that if you made a knuckleballer they couldn't be used in DD which is fine because I don't even play DD, but I still miss pre-21 RTTS.

I think adding further player background could help like college or highschool, although rights to those would be harder to obtain it would still be cool. I also don't like how if you're mid season or you want your player to be a multiple position or utility guy, there is no option for that. If I wanted a 5-tool swiss army knife player, that isn't possible in these games anymore.

remember in the old MLB the Show games like 08 and 09 you finish a career make it to the hall of fame and there was a plaque of accomplishments at the end remember that i do what happened to that. I just want RTTS to be what it was around 08 and 09 that is still my favorite versions of RTTS the training points system plus the advancement goals and the interactions menu felt so good at the time and i fucking could play it over and over and yeah over again. I dont have a ps3 or ps2 anymore or copies of those games anyways so icant go back to that the most i can is go back to MLB the Show 16 and play it on my now PS5 which is still more fun for me than any of the games to come out since 16. RTTS was the thing that honestly kept me loving baseball really as a whole like if not for RTTS i probably wouldnt care about baseball as much as i still do. I just hope one day SDS can realize its mistakes and make it the game that revolutionized and made career modes necessary for all sports games cuz from my memory thats what it did and now RTTS is crap wtf SDS why do this you dont have to do this you really dont.

Rtts is the reason I bought the game back in ‘21 when Xbox users finally had a chance to play the Show. I played ‘22 just as much because they improved some things. But I didn’t play ‘23 that much because they didn’t make any changes to the Show. I like DD, but RTTS should get majority of the overhaul. They need improvements like being able to talk to management at any time, tracking your achievements better, a deeper dynamic story mode throughout your career that will keep you interested past year 3. Year 10-20 should be just as exciting as year 1 and 2. When you get closer to all time records the game needs to acknowledge that. Goat discussions as you get older, Cooperstown ceremonies. Trying to get an Ohtani contract and endorsements. Would be nice to actually have a commercial showing cleats with a brand etc.. They basically need at least 20 years of storylines for your RTTS player. DD doesn’t need that much improvement right now.

The issue with story mode in Madden and MLB is that they can’t compete with NBA 2k. In 2k you grind your player and then go and play games with your friends with the players you have each grinded individually. If MLB and Madden can find a way to give us 5v5 online games with our own created builds. I promise you a lot of people will stop playing NBA 2k

The main issue that made it unplayable for me is the unrealistic trades the cpu made. You can’t turn trades off w/out sacrificing rewards, & the realism died. For example, I had an A potential 3B who was starting, yet cpu traded my A potential AA pitcher for 37 y/o Evan Longoria. CPU gutted my entire roster where I didn’t recognize ny team w/in 1 year & was unbalanced like having 4 75+ 3B w/ only 1 SS, horrible salary cap allocation w/ 7 SP making serious money but no good relievers

I have a different background with this game. I spent most of the Xbox 360/ PS3 era on Xbox. I only repurchased a PS3 at the end of the era and did the same with the PS4. I was an MLB 2k player on Xbox 360 and basically left baseball video games behind as Xbox One didn't have an MLB game for almost a decade. I was mostly a PC gamer at that point and only ended up repurchasing an Xbox One at a pawn shop. Later that year I found out that MLB The Show 21 was coming to Xbox. I hadn't played an MLB game since 2013 so this got me back into it. The game ran poorly on my base Xbox One so I ended up trading it for an Xbox One S, and later the One X.
I did end up getting a PS4 and going back and playing all of the MLB The Show games of that era and even picking up 14 - 16 for my PS3. I love all of the MLB games and think it is the best career mode in sports period. 2k has been a grind since 2k18 and badges kill offline career modes. MLB feels the least like an online grind of all of the sports games but I agree I hate the change. I would like to go back to MLB 16/17 skills progression that didn't rely on perks and gear to max out my player. I want to wear the gear I like or use in real life. I hate the fact that once servers are down I can't go back and change to my licensed gear. Basically, everything is geared towards online even if you only want the single-player experience and that sucks. 2k and Madden aren't any better. 2k removes cut scenes completely for offline players. MLB is the only sports game I still look forward to buying and that's not even at full price.
I would like a completely offline Road to The Show mode with skills progression from the PS3 era and gear I can unlock and keep forever offline. I don't even need the gear to have perks to them. Just allow me to be able to max out my only offline career player.

Rtts 13 was the reason I switched from Xbox to ps in the first place. I got a ps4, then ps5. Now with the current status of developers across the market, I do not own a ps5 and do not plan to play games anymore. It’s hard to watch these modes that had a lot of potential, do absolutely nothing for the game. Even 2K back in 2016 had one of the best career experiences I’ve had in a long time with Freq and college basketball. Of all time, my favorite. Since then, they have gone away from actually making a memorable story mode that added a lot of depth to your character and instead you are literally just nicknamed the same thing every year.

Lets not forget to mention that while it was a smart move to open the game up to people who use xbox, the xbox version isnt that good in the respect that it is choppy as hell. It is already hard enough to read a pitch amd teact to it in a split second, but it becomes borderline impossible when it is coming at you in only like 7 frames….I get that people will say that its because I should be using a Playstation, but my question is why put out a product on a platform if it isnt going to be good quality-wise?

I agree that the experience has been watered down to the point that RTTS players don't gain anything by getting the new version each year. This will remain the case until the mode is significantly overhauled and not just the same thing repackaged and recycled year over year. I do, however, disagree with your take regarding starting a new player but having access to all of your previous equipment and loadouts. You earned those (or paid for them) already. Making a new player is similar to new game + in that should you choose, you can take full advantage of the things you already got. Is it realistic? No. But no simulation is entirely realistic anyway, nor should it be. You should be able to play how you want, and I'd rather have the choice to start a new player with buffs if I've already paid for them with my time or money. Great video!

ftr, equipment has worked the same in basically all of the games they've been in. don't really mind that much, it's a decent system and especially in this context it's good to see at least one aspect of the game be subject to "if it ain't broke..."
but yeah, as others have mentioned it's pretty interesting how it's not really been a clear decline in quality, whenever they overhaul the system it almost always ends up worse than how they did it before but they iterate on it and eventually comes good. They pulled an NHL 14-15 with MLB 20 having the most refined and fleshed out version of the MLB 18 rework only to completely throw that away for the new console generation and their insistence on "ballplayer integration".
the thing it'll always have going for it is that it's as _fast_ as you want it to be. I have never grown a player past 85 in any be-a-pro mode in any game that wasn't baseball. Even in MLB2K I was able to get a guy up to 97; in baseball there's just so much more you can skip if you don't want to wait around milling for the ball to come to you.

How about the fact that when you play as a pure pitcher (I play 22), the game glitches and puts you in as a batter for a game, changing that game save to one of a two way player and then no longer lets you use the created pitcher you’ve been using. Love that game feature
