I continue to be impressed with your encyclopedic knowledge of the brewing industry, the who brews what, where, and for whom, etc! I am truly interested in this kind of information. I value background info as I savor my libations or as I hunt for something new. Great Privateer cap BTW!
Oh wow ... after Killian's the other day, this is throwback week on your channel. Remember this one too being "big deal" back in late 90's to early 2000's too, something special compared to BMC in those times & then faded away. Did not know it was made by Lagunitas for USA market of late. Can't remember the last time I had one of these but it's been YEARS ... would be fun to revisit for nostalgia purposes maybe ..
Great review, the funny thing is that recently i was looking for it and even called my local Total Wine, because I noticed they did not stock it anymore. Nonetheless, hope it comes back in my market on the east coast. I love how smooth it is though. Thanks for the info and review. :-))))
OMG! This is great news! I have to admit, I didn’t care for the Lagunitas version. Now, we just need them to re-release the Werewolf Blood Ale. Take care, sir!
Other than the Werewolf there was the Summer Ale, Winter IPA, Founders Ale, Bombshell Blonde Ale, Cabbie Black Ale, Scotch Ale and there might have been a few others but those are the ones I remember.
Hello my friend - great review. Very interesting to see you tasting this very English beer. And for once; we get the larger bottle 😁 Newcastle Brown is 4.7% in a 550ml bottle here. Clear glass and has been for as long as I'm aware (at least 20 years). I don't know if they still do but it used to have a gimmick where the star on the label would turn blue when sufficiently chilled. Suggesting that they expect you to drink it chilled. It's very widely available here. Most grocery stores have it. Many pubs have it. I think most English beer drinkers see it as not great but ok. It's... fine. Cheers!
Very exciting news. Newcastle was one of the first imported beers I remember drinking. Nothing special but it was good for the time. The Lagunitas brewed was a fine beer but it wasn’t Newcastle, just a nice craft brown ale. Crazy that Louisiana has more snow than we currently have in SE Minnesota. Cheers 🍻!
I'm surprised you rated this so highly Ron, I live just a few miles from Newcastle Upon Tyne and this was an outstanding beer which I drank regularly throughout the 90's and noughties, then sadly Scottish and Newcastle brewery folded and Heineken got their hands on it and ruined it along with every other beer they touch including all the Caledonian brewery beers. I have no idea how popular it is now in terms of sales but Its still widely available in pubs and shops here in England.
i think the last time i drank this beer was probably around 2008 or so, but i do recall my opinion of it being good but somewhat mild and bland (same as your view). and i'm not entirely sure i even tried the lagunitas version, even though it's likely i did. thanks for the video, as well as the duo video that was released today. cheers ronald 🍻

Thanks, Robert, and my videos are a reflection of my beer hobby (and, of course, sports interest).
This is a nice change to have now and then.
I agree.

Yes, and unintentional throwback week.

I didn't notice anything strange like that.
malty caramel
I've heard this is a shadow of how it used to be. I've never reviewed it so I'll definitely grab a bottle over the weekend. Cheers Jay.
Well, it sure did taste like I remember it, twenty years ago. Cheers, back to you, David!

I was shocked, when I saw this sixpack. Yeah, that snow. Cheers, back to you!
Picked some up today. Looking forward to it!

I was also surprised that it scored so highly, to be honest, Andrew.
Bring back Pete’s Wicked Ale
Right! I used to love that one! Thanks for watching, Burley Kev. I appreciate it!
