The natural waterfalls of Zadepleu in the western region of Ivory Coast.

On August 7, 1960, the President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, His Excellency Felix Houphouët Boigny during the rotating celebrations of the Independence Day of Côte d'Ivoire visited for the first time the natural waterfalls of Zadepleu. This majestic jet of water leaves him speechless, especially as he discovers in the same place the symbol of the traditional architectural ingenuity and know-how of the DAN people: the 75-metre long liana bridge.
Note that initially the liana bridges are located in the department of Danané and the waterfalls in the department of Man. On the occasion of this presidential visit (August 7, 1969), the traditional experts numbering 10 from Gotonguiné 1&2 (Sangouiné) were called upon to build this liana bridge, which was completed in one night. Amazed by the beauty and magic of the site, President Felix Houphouët Boigny decided to make the Tonkpi region the first tourist destination of the Ivory Coast as it is full of enormous potential. Thus the work of development and enhancement of sites are initiated.
Let us recall that originally the Zadepleu waterfalls are sacred places dedicated to rites of blessings and worship of animist worship. The sacred altars are still on the site of the waterfalls, but kept away from visitors and sacrifices are still made.
Today, following the development work carried out, the natural waterfalls of Zadepleu look great, and offer visitors unique moments of happiness in the middle of nature. The landscaped platforms make it possible to observe a luxuriant and virgin forest, to contemplate imperious jets of water with golden clarity when the sun's rays are lost. It is also invaded by a tropical coolness, which breaks with the humidity of the outside world. The natural swimming pool at the waterfall invites us to take a dip. With the help of the guides we can show on the bridge of the lianas and admire the place. The site offers other services such as secure parking, refreshment bar and restaurant.
