The people in my theatre experience all liked it and the place was packed. I really liked it and want to watch again. It is very conceptual, violent, and silly. Obviously reminiscent of GTA. But then filtered through artistic choices. If you are an artist that can appreciate long “boring” scenes this is for you.
Harmony korine films should be processed either as trolls or as something you wait a day to fully absorb the half remembered dream like imagery he is trying to implant in you, the man does not make anything you could call a "film"
The same creators also recently made a music video for bladee. I didn't like how it is both a bit try-hard and not at all of the drained aesthetic, although it was competently made
@NeekoWatchesMovies harmony's writing often contains stuff that is supposed to be weird/dumb/ironic/awkward and cringe. The whole concept of the writing is they are supposed to be like NPC's from a video game. If you have not seen gummo I would be surprised. Most of harmony's movies are more of an atmosphere or a dream than a movie- it's what he goes for. The point the movie feels more like a music video is a great point. Most of his newer movies are about a hypocrisy and parody of modern culture of hedonism.If you expect a regular movie I see being dissapointed, but that's not the point at all.
It‘s among my favorite films of the year. Yes, Challengers is the overall more classically competent movie in every way. But it‘s Aggro Dr1ft I keep thinking about. Glad daring experiments like this exist.
Maaan, that's just hyper-gangsta movie, deconstructing trap life by driving it to it's logical radical consequences, at the same time it's just funny and music is amazing.
All the Marvil/DC movies and all the 80s/90s remakes, prequels need to all go away. At least Aggro Dr1ft was something new. If they make another planet of the apes or Jurassic park movie I'm gonna throw up

I believe if they removed the AI filter, added a script not written by a 13 year old, competently recorded audio, it could be a competently made film!
