      Ya, I couldn't afford to buy at the time. But after college, I started collecting a few snes and sega genesis games from my childhood. Really happy I still have them.

      @@HamZero when I was collecting i started when I was like 11 or 12 and once I hit high school I knew that at some point this market was gonna blow up after I saw xbox and sony try to do away with physical media the first time with the One and Ps4, so I made it a habbit to keep price tags on my used games back in like 2010, for example, Lugis mansion 10 bucks, Dragon Quest 9 10 bucks, Melee 20 bucks, Brawl 20 bucks, FF6 40 bucks, super mario RPG 40 bucks, God Hand 50 bucks, Pokemon Silver 40 bucks, I could go on and on but I do feel for anyone wanting to get in now, this is why ill never fault anyone for turning to emulators, this hobby's become to much now

    Part of the problem is that people started buying up every game they could find and said "game collecting" was a hobby. The moment people began to think purchasing and hoarding something is a hobby is the moment gamers everywhere were screwed. It was only a matter of time before it would become too expensive for someone to purchase an old game because there was always someone else who would be willing to pay a stupid amount of money for it just to put it on a shelf and never play it. There are only a finite amount of games out there, and between degradation and people scooping up remaining copies just to never play them, we were all doomed to deal with it.

      Absolutely. The whole supply/demand coupled with nostalgia makes retro games insanely expensive. I hear collectors are buying more than 1 copy of games all the time, so that could also add on to the problem. Reminds me of real estate lmao.

    The preowned market for gaming has disappeared from the high street in the UK, but I think that was down to Nintendo? I stopped buying second hand games after the PS2 era, one shop kept the discs in cardboard sleeves which damaged the discs. My PS4 physical collection is huge, and the PS5 is starting to grow. I'm sorry to say the writing is on the wall when it comes to physical games, Ubisoft CEO is pushing to end ownership of physical games.

    To be fair goodwill has to uncharge games to near market prices unless some other reseller with no skills is gonna snag any of the good games for like 5 bucks and resell it for market value anyways. The only problem tho is that they can overshoot and do stuff above market then it just sits there for months lol

      Ya I know. They have a jewellery section where they put all the good stuff. Some are priced right while others are way too expensive.

      yea its hit and miss but I'd much rather pay slightly below market price to a sorta charity (idk how much they actually give) then some dude just trying to make a quick buck at market price@@HamZero

    Pre owned shops are the ideal place to find unwanted copies of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I will be picking up a used copy of Rebirth when it comes out from a bargain bin, no point in giving my money to SquareEnix.

    • @HamZero
      @HamZero  7 месяцев назад

      It is a good way. Problem is most of the time it takes a while for the stores to get unwanted copies.

    • @Mangomesh
      @Mangomesh 7 месяцев назад +1

      Oh you will find a copy, I came across a load of PS4 copies of Final Fantasy 7 Remake at my local CEX store. They stopped taking them because so many people wanted to trade that game back in. You play it and then you forget about it.

      @@Mangomesh I stopped going to the CEX store here in the UK, every disc is scratched up. The latest generation do not take care of discs anymore.

    I’m fairly certain Nintendos reasoning for not dropping their video game prices is to ensure that the consumer doesn’t feel ripped off when they buy it at full price. For instance, a $90 game being $45 two months later can be annoying (cough Ubisoft).
    Nintendo is basically saying, “don’t bother waiting for a sale” because by the time they put it on sale (the sale is usually no more than 30%) it won’t be worth the wait.
    With that said, there’s currently a sale on the Eshop and it’s 30% off lol

    • @HamZero
      @HamZero  7 месяцев назад +1

      Lool so true. I was mainly talking about their new exclusives like mario and zelda games not budging.
      Ya, it seems like the 30% off is for their older titles. Mario wonder, 3d land and tears of the kingdom is not part of it. Maybe next year lol.

      @@HamZero I guess technically you can save with the Nintendo Voucher + you do earn coins every time you buy a game.
      But you’re right I think I bought BOTW on sale once like two years ago.
