  • The French government has used controversial special constitutional powers to force through a rise in the pension age amid chaotic scenes in parliament in which radical left MPs sang La Marseillaise at the top of their voices to stop the prime minister, Élisabeth Borne, from speaking.

    Too bad Americans don’t have this level of solidarity to stand up to our own government. Imagine what change we could implement against prescription & health care costs alone.

    I wish Americans had the balls to fight for our rights like this. Our country was founded on revolution too, but unlike the French, we lost our revolutionary spirit we complacent and obedient. It’s obvious that McCarthyism is to blame but that was a long time ago we could’ve fixed things by now. what’s to blame for our current problems is Reagan and his successors. The French take nothing lying down! They organized objective based riots across their entire country! Why? Because the retirement age was raised by two years. just two years! The American people have had much worse done to them many times, and we just accept it! How does that not disgust and embarrass people?

    What is this "Special Power" you speak off? And how can the people get some?

    • @Alix83Alex
      @Alix83Alex Год назад +7

      It is called the 49.3 and the it allows the government to create a new bill without it being voted by the national assembly. With this "power" they can do whatever they want, and they use it when they know that the people don't want that new law & that it would not be voted. And we protest against it with the strikes. So it's the reason why there has been a lot of strikes in France these past few weeks.

      If the french people would bow down to their masters as easily as you and others do, the retirement age defintetly wouldn't even be at 64, but more likely at 68 or even 70.
