You're not alone. I mean I know the basic, but to win the game... I'm lost.

So cute. Do they shout 'Pong' and 'Kong' during the game..
I think they just shout "MAHJONG!" 1:46
They do have pong, kong and chow. It's just that the final hand shapes looks nothing like Chinese mahjong hands.
They might be playing the American or universal rules. Idk what version they are playing
American old people should learn that Chinese old people go to the park to dance.
I started playing mah jong at the age of 7. Everytime during Chinese New Year we would play from morning till night time. But we do it in a traditional Chinese way.
I expect grandmas to play CS GO and shout "GG noobs!". Was disappointed.
Asian people play mahjong for more than just fun lol

American Mahjong: Played by retirees for fun
Asian Mahjong: You lost and your finger is gone
Don’t play mah-jongg you will get addictive
It's cute how the western mahjong looks and the way they put them together, it's almost like dominoes.
😄 I'm re-reading the stage play, 'The Joy Luck Club' by Susan Kim, based on the best-selling novel by Amy Tan, about a weekly mahjong club of Chinese immigrant women and their American-born daughters in San Francisco, California!
The last lady had a huge win.
Mah Jong Diplomacy, another way for peace 🙏🏻
I feel safe and loved by these beautiful ladies, as though I had just found my long lost sister. What a beautiful story of families and sisterhood.
You know you're a pro at Mahjong when you can tell the tile by feel and when you stop grouping your tiles together so people can't read your hand.
Do they bet with notes and somehow introduce casino chips to highten the stakes?
Tbh that is what you call real Chinese Mahjong.
I'm from Balkan and I know some people that play Mahjong
We aren't close so we are playing Mahjong Soul!
Those look like really nice mahjong sets. I wonder what brand they are.
That woman, Peggy, has a voice of a child. That is funny.
Btw, Mahjong is like what video game is to kids, except that , it is enjoyed by all ages and is still popular now.
And no violence in mahjong, unlike video games
But in China if we lose we need to give money lol
Agay. io I never saw anyone passed money.
in China mahjong is a kind of gambling
difficult once you start, but once you are hooked its and have friends to play with its hard to put down, until the neighbours started complaining on the 15 hour streak through out the day that stop our match.
This is what you call a sweet video.
Having learned this from my dad as a kid and haven't played for years, I never knew Americans or westerners played it.
Mahjong is popular in south China, not in the north.
Mahjong in Brooklyn NY style, would be Wu-tang CREAM tune playing in the background w/ Rza, Gza, Inspector deck, ODB, with Shaw brothers 70s flicks playing on Tv. Ya heard.....
I’m Chinese, I feel awkward.
I played MJ very well.
I loved the scene of mahjong game in crazy rich asians
Today is 911.
The Chinese like to say that at the mahjong table (where the Chinese play for serious money), one’s personality is laid bare, warts and all.
Diversity is beautiful
American mahjong tiles seem to be thinner than Asian tiles.
chinese people gamble through Mahjong 。。。almost everyone play this during spring festival...
In China, it’s called build Great Wall 😢
Its weird the way they pronounce mah jong and scream mah jong when they win. Totally different culture from the Hong Kong style
2:55 floofy boii noises
Do they play mahjong as a gambler's game?
maybe.some playing for fun.
Playing Majiang no money no soul ,haha。
@@user-kr5ks1bn9p agree.
They may play for a little money, not much. I hate gambling but I enjoy playing 🀄 for no money. I don't like 🇺🇲 🀄 with jokers, charlestons, and those purchased cards that change every year. Julia Roberts and Sarah Jessica Parker play 🇺🇲 🀄.
@@msqunhua most of the elders in China play Mahjong for a little money to spend their time.
This game can get u hook. I know how to play since I was 10. Watching my mom play. She still does. 90 yeas old. I lost interest. Play too much. I haven't touched MJ for decades now. There's lots of different rules depending on where u are.
Can anyone teach me....i want to learn this game...
Anyone....

It's weird most gambling games dominated by men like poker, but for Mahjong it's ladies.

I wonder if they play for money?
