In Gu Jun's heart, he's just a humble flood dragon who received immense grace from Shang Gu, she helped him ascend to be a god and helped him rise among the ranks, she treated him well and he will forever be grateful because of that. When Houchi came, it seems like he's just doing a service to his master but in the long run he saw Houchi not just an image of his master but as his real daughter. He loved her to the point of dying for her, he was unable to see her bear all the suffering that fell on her and he chose to die so that no one can trample on his precious daughter ever again.
I was heart broken when Gu Jun died, he was Shang Gu's greatest and most loyal student, and he was Houchi's loving father for centuries after he found a way to reincarnate Shang Gu. What I loved most is that Gu Jun gave Houchi the greatest wish of her original incarnation. Shang Gu once wished that she could be a daughter, a wife, and a mother just like the mortal women were, and Gu Jun gave her that wish when he helped her reincarnate as Houchi. I wanted Gu Jun to become one of the True Gods at the end, he was one of the best characters in the series.
GuJun is the best dad and student. I just love his character and pay him respect from my heart 🙇🙇🙇

He lived for her and died for her. Its called true love. A true love doesn't have to be of romantic feelings all the time..I really love his character. The actor who portrayed it really done great job. 💚💚💚 Not to mention the actress who portrayed Houchi. 100%,200%,1000% sure, no actress could have played this character better than her. She is lovely, pretty, beautiful, powerful, graceful, the aura of supremacy. Out of words. 💚💚💚😘😘😘

How many times did I cry while watching this drama? 😢
I'm a kdrama fan and cdrama Enjoyer. I only watched modern cdrama, because before I thought cdrama historical is kind of exaggerated, especially fantasy history cdrama. I swore that I never really like this kind of cdrama genre. But after being a fan of Xu Kai when I've watched FIYS, a lot of Xu Kai drama clips appearing on my fb timeline and RUclips recommendations. I seen those scene with demon attacking the god realm and this video. Because of my addiction to Xu Kai now a days i decided to give it a try, and after 1 and 2 ep. I fell in-love with this drama. Really fell in love. Everything about this drama is so well created. I can't even explain it and put it in a words. It took me two days to watched the whole drama and I just finished it last night. Overall this drama change my whole view about Historical fantasy cdrama. I even think this will only be the only historical cdrama that I'll watched, well except if it's xu kai drama. Hahahahahahaha.

There is actually a logical explanation why Gu Jun sacrificed his life for Houchi but Bai Jue just stood there doing nothing.
Bai Jue at this point already has Chaos Magic, which is Shang Gu's original power. Even if Houchi dies, Shang Gu will still be awaken in hundred years time without her Chaos Magic, or with but very little.
That's when Bai Jue would have either before or after this time given her back her power. So technically Gu Jun's sacrifice probably wouldn't have made much of a difference in terms of the outcome, which makes his sacrifice kind of wasted. (The thing is Gu Jun actually knows about this but his duty as a loving father and loyal student made him can't bear to see Houchi to just die like that.) Only difference is that Houchi would not have died in peace, and when Shang Gu wakes up and knows about this she would hate Bai Jue even more, but it's very likely that Wu Huan would be less suspicious of Shang Gu's revival as she would be made to believe Houchi died for good without ever gaining back her powers as Shang Gu.
No bai jue never had taken shanggu's power, he understood how chaos power is created and he made himself into a chaos being like shanggu.

This is the most heartbreaking 💔 scene for me to watch. I can't bear to see Houchi so helpless and Bae Ju just stood there while watching her suffering. Yes it's Shanggu that she loved not Houchi but he should've shown her pity😢 even just for the sake of Shanggu whose sleeping inside her body to protect the vessel. I don't understand what stopping him.
