I have one and bought it for a specific reason. It's almost perfect for writing scripts for the videos or other creative writing, since there's 0 distractions. You can only type or create presentations and stay focused on the job. The keyboard sucks though, I wish I have the one with mechanical keys but it sells separately.
My surface's keyboard broke (probably because I was touching the green board after the thing fell of a little bit) but it fixed. Surface RT is recomended even if it is ARM device. You can still download Windows 10 ARM (build 15035 is only ARM32) and work with it, but again, no special programs.
If you ever do is typing, rt is the best, better battery life than the pro version, you get full office included for no extra charge. Really good for students at the time.
i’m thinking of picking an RT up as purely a media center (loading videos on it) for things like long drives/flights - how do you think it’ll do for that purpose?
it’ll preform well, it doesnt have bad video playback although the rt uses arm32 and almost nothing supporte that and ie is pretty good at not being able to load websites so you might wanna copy videos off a usb stick or something like that
I would avoid it like the plague. Next to no app support, Windows support ended years ago and it has next to no usable storage. Unless your intention is to jailbreak it don't buy one.
@@chandlerbing7570 you could install Windows 10 with jailbreaking but you could also brick your device, always have a second hand one or recovery drive without homebrew installed
There is a whole ton of ways to install desktop apps that are ported to arm and desktop apps (such as Win8emu, etc) however it is very hard to get the programs running as its quite janky
Nice video, Surface RT was a good device indeed. How did you accessed the windows store? On my device it tells me the windows store has been discontinued and I do not get any updated for my device anymore. Any ideas?
i was looking in the basement for something and found the surface rt in the basement... i could power it up to see if it is still usable.... or i could watch your video instead ;)
It doesn’t work with the new Surface pens so it wouldn’t be the best. IMO I’d get a 2nd hand pro or Surface Go with the new pen and apps as they’d be a much better experience
I bought an rt 8.1 for $40 and i jailbroke it and download windows 10 and it’s still pretty much useless however I’m trying to figure out how to use it as an interface for my 3D printer
I bought it today for INR 7000. I got a new job and they require me to bring laptop to work(juz excel and spreadsheet) I think this will fit the purpose very well.. Hope it'll last long hahah...
@@AldoJames hahha damn I refunded it . It's an unsupported mess, doesn't support any other browsers than e explores Also can't access Google sheets, which is the main reason I bought it..

I love that! Maybe you can get a mechanical keyboard later?
@@AldoJames I can, however they droped one drive support just recently. It seems like in a year or earlier Windows RT would become completey unusable(
@@Mihail_psycholog yep! good riddance tho windows RT was a piece of shit

it was my childhood dream to buy😍 this - feel sad it ended this way for surface rt 😓 - love ur video - feel nostalgia 😍
Aww thank you!
i miss win 8.1 so much it was the best design for me so far and i loved my windows phone so much with oled uff
Aww what do you use now?
Windows 8 felt like a futuristic interface especially with a touchscreen. I really liked windows 8

Can you answer my questions as a owner I want to buy it
@@GalaxyGamer-qn1mv sure. It would be great.

Haha it’s dad but true, the RT won’t be a good computer now as it’s out of support and limited in use
@@chandlerbing7570 you could install Windows 10 with jailbreaking but you could also brick your device, always have a second hand one or recovery drive without homebrew installed
I still have one!
Awesome! Do you still use it?
@@AldoJames I used mine for checking email sometimes, Microsoft's Office apps and mostly now for listening to music 🎶 through my speaker.
Same

If you have the first gen rt then you can downgrade to rt 8.0 and jailbreak esaily
Do you think it's worth doing on the RT?
It depends If you own one then use but its not worth buying one

Thank Mike, honestly the store just worked it didn’t need me to do anything special so I’m not too sure how to fix yours
Change your location from control panel

You might be updated to the 2022/2023 updates that blocks it
Good work !
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insights. Currently I’m bidding on one on EBay.
How did you go?
Did word or excel work on this Microsoft Surface or is RT just dead
The Surface RT was a very interesting device (ik that sounded a lil bit weird)
In retrospect I can see how it was a transformative idea
@@AldoJames yes, though it failed but i think it could’ve been a better device if they allowed apps from all Stores
Hi. Do you think this would be great for music use only?
Like tidal and qobuz?
You'd have to access it through the web, I'd go for a newer computer tbh

Thank you
Nice video, but can you maybe elaborate a bit more on IE, is it completely useless?
Pretty much completely useless as it's no longer supported by Microsoft even on newer devices

How good!
There is one on sale for a tenner. Wonder if is worth that much really. Will support end in 2023?
Yes
I would love to be able to run Chrome OS on my Surface RT
Whats the game emulation on it like?
I haven't tried but I'd say bad
I need one and want one but do I have to use the keyboard or does it have one in software?
It has a built in keyboard
Can it and other win RT tablet possible run dual boot on USB or SD card ?
Sorry for my bad english
You're english is good, I was able to understand the question :D You can't dual boot it
Will music work on it on the mp3 if I pull music down from OneDrive?
It should!
My aunt randomly found one, I'm gonna get it and install raspberry pi os. It still won't be that usable tho cus it has no hardware acceleration.
How'd it go?
@@AldoJames the os install went well. the surface is still too slow because still no hardware acceleration
Can download and use the MT4?
for etsy and canva,is it easy to use with tis one?
The web browser on this isn't supported anymore so even those websites might not load properly
The question everybody's thinking is is it faster than a raspberry pi and how many 3D printers can I run off of this
I want to love this so bad :( But you can’t do much with it
Aww you can still love it
5:22 you meant office 2013 home?
This surface sucks.... It's not allowing anything to install and store search is worst it doesn't bring even Google
