Another impressive video, and great review for those looking at this wing. What we should have done when we demo'd the ozone wings was swap after... you try the freeride 2 and I test that XC!
Thanks man, always appreciate your feedback. We certainly should have, would love to try that freeride 2. Maybe next time we meet up we will have to both demo another wing and we can try each others out
Wow, great content and edit Colten! I've also been interested in this wing; I may try and get a demo. A friend of mine has an 18m version but it's currently getting repaired, so I can fly his. I'm on a 20m Sirocco 3 that's slightly overloaded. Im curious as to how the ViperXC in an 18m would compare. I've heard that the Sirocco rolls a bit faster since the winglets on the Viper dampen it. Also, top speed on my Sirocco 3 is around 40-43mph, full trims, full speedbar - so pretty comparable there. I'm thinking the Viper's efficiency is probably a bit better. Bottom line is, I need to fly one to determine if I want to swap. I don't think I'd need both wings, as they are both designed for XC.
Nice video! Do you have any informations about fuel consumption or rpm needed in level flight with your set up? I am searching for my next xc wing and i am not able to test every wing with out driving hundreds off Kilometers.
Nice I want to try this wing as well, because I'm a big XC flyer. I currently use a Hadron 3 for that and it's very efficient. I'm interested in the efficiency of this wing compared to say the Speedster 3 or Hadron 3. i.e. what effect does it have on range. Which wing would fly the farthest on 10L?
I've only briefly demoed the viperXC, so I can't know for sure, but I don't think you'll notice a huge efficiency difference coming from H3. I think you'd need to go to warp2 for a noticeable bump.
You get used to the toggle clips pretty quickly. Once you do, they are far superior IMHO. I have those on my Luna and cant remember the last time my brake toggles fell off and got tangled while ground handling or setting up the wing. Pull down to take them out, line them up straight on to put them back. Gets easy to do even in turbulence.
Yeah see the thing is, bgd makes a better version of them imo. I have a bgd cyclone with those locking brake magnets and I love them, (best ones I’ve tried) but they are slightly different on ozone wings, and are just not a smooth to use. But your right I’m sure I’d get used to them quick, just annoying at first.
I've been getting to know the Viper XC as well but not with the PK risers. I suspect I will want PK but would like ro kmpw more. What are your pro and con opinions of the PK system?
Yeah the ok risers are great, I don’t see any cons to having them. They still come with trimmers on them to, so if you prefer to use those instead you can. Definitely a lot of fun to go from slow to really fast just by stomping on the speed bar.
At 5:32 an object appears at upper right, slightly above the horizon then dives downward, about mid frame and does a 180 back out to the right. Did you incidentally film a ufo? Thanks for the review Colten!
What’s your all up weight? What altitude are you flying at? What other wings are on your radar you might demo? Who you go through for your demo’s? Thanks for the vid!
My all up here is around 275lbs. And I’m launching at around 2300’ My next video I have coming I take it fly camping and my all up weight is 310lbs. It preformed amazing. I want to try a Dudek driftair, and ITV piper and maybe bgd Luna 2. I went through aviator paramotor for this demo
@@coltenwenger I recommend giving the Warp 2 a try. It was purpose-built for XC/adventure flying and lots of folks in the industry claim it to be best-in-class. We both fly much the same and it knocked my socks off.
@@CalebJohnsonlivingca yeah I know it’s not in the same class, just looks like a fun wing tho. I know I won’t buy one but I’d like to play around with it a little. Thanks man
@@ZDW4573 yeah I’ll consider it, although I think the driftair is more up my alley. The warp seems a bit to spicy for the type of stuff I want it for, but I’d be down to demo one for sure. It definitely looks like a fun wing. Thanks for the input
I want to get into flying. I'd definitely go to training somewhere. As I sit here with no experience I think I'd like to end up on a spyder 3 after training and I'd most likely stay on a wing like that. Am I foolish for making a comment like that? As a guy gets more and more experienced is it a normal thing to want a hotter wing?
No that’s not foolish at all. The Spyder 3 is one of the most common wings new pilots leave training with! It’s a very safe wing, with a decent speed range, but also isn’t a wing that you will “outgrow” in a year or two. I’d recommend getting in touch with Trevor Steele at Backcountry ppg. He is one of the top instructors out there and will make sure you stay safe and also get you on the proper gear that best suits your needs.
Yeah he had a serious tailwind when he got those speeds. My top speed on this flight was right at 60mph, but only when I had a decent tailwind as well. The manual states that top speed on this wing is right at 43mph
No, but when I’m fully loaded with all my camping gear and a tank of fuel I’m over 300lbs. My weight-195lb, paramotor weight-72lb fuel+camping gear 40lbs

Anthony Vella already showed us how do max speed on a low altitude with an iPhone in one hand ends up. Just a matter of time or fly safe. You chose.
Your right, and I have since changed (like many pilots did) after Anthony’s crash and no longer use speedbar below 1000’
