I would also add that the different versions of "Lost One's Weeping" can approach the subject in different ways. The rock version present's the student's anger and frustration at the system. The piano version emphasizes the student's sadness. If a student is struggling, their concerns are often hand-waved away by authority figures as "youthful melodrama". This is best expressed in the lines, "Just open up your eyes, why don’t you grow up and see? But what the hell is “growing up” and tell me when will I be?" (from the Jubyphonic translation). Here, we see a student tailspinning, but unable to get proper help, even if help is asked for. In these instances, the student will feel utterly helpless. They will either shut down and sink into depression (piano version) or lash out (rock version). In either case, we can be more forgiving of the student, even though he was ultimately the one who "threw his dreams away". Ultimately, the system failed to arm him with the tools he needed, and essentially set him up to fail. Both versions of the song work together to emphasize how helpless this feels: anger at the system that failed, and sadness at how the student's life is playing out (as well as the student's own personal failures).
This song was my anthem during my rebellious and curious teen years. Now i'm in the most prestigious university in my country. So to everyone, you need to study, but you dont need to wipe away your hobbies, your likes, your desires and your passion. Don't listen to the people who says "This thing you're doing isn't going to help you become a better student". If it makes you happy, do it. If you can see a future in it, keep it. Live your life to the fullest. Good luck
Something to notice, the line "who was it that turned his heart black" or something, played a part. When the kid took the paper off his face, maybe a little before that, the main color theme is black for the rest of the music video. The color theme before was red, but then progressed to become black
As the video went on it reminded me of a classic Luka song, 'no logic'. I'd say this applies just as well to that one, where a top student realizes that their life is lacking something because all they do is well, be good at studying while putting their true feelings aside. The chorus is really powerful with a message directed to god "Are you listening to this song? Isn't this what you wished for?" and then, in the end, she realizes the things she wants to do beyond school, and her true feelings "I too want to laugh, even more, I want to scream!" and that studying and school isn't everything. It's one of my all time favorites and it's another perfect example of how people feel pressured in the education system, to the point of even losing who they are all together. Then we have a more recent example which is 'Undead Enemy', a song again about a really good student that loses his humanity ("I've even forgotten how to rest.", "I've even forgotten how to love.") to the system's and his parents' pressure, starts falling behind with his grades and eventually realizes that this is not just him, every other student is under control as well, 'dancing in the palms of the adults' as the song puts it. Then it all ends with a question to the listener, "The solution is...?" ...At this point, I'm not sure why I started this comment, I guess just because as the video went it reminded me these other two very powerful examples as well XD
I HIGHLY relate to this becuase of how I am treated becuase of my Dyslexia and that has caused me a lot of pain I appauled Neru for how he this song is done
It's been a long while since I last listened to some vocaloid songs and watched some MVs, but your videos are making me wanna get back into it. It's a community full of incredibly talented people, be it the producers of the songs, the people who make the MVs or the people who cover the songs, there are just so many amazing things out there
I agree with your views on the songs. Even if the system is flawed, we have the choice not to follow it. After all, alternate ways of schooling and finding careers are becoming much more mainstream, making it easier not to have to follow the flawed school system.
I remember that once I got chastised in school and was tagged with suicidal thoughts because of a drawing I made and my dumb ass thought that it would be creative and cool idea to sign my name on a grave in a background the drawing featured nothing more than a skeleton and a tree and a grave when I tried to explain that it was just me singing a drawing of mine they called up my parents and told them I had depression though back then I was still far too young to even think about such a thing (though looking back I definitely had reasons for it) and when I got to México school was even more opresive than in the US
I genuinely just realized that i don't have a dream or an ambition after watching this video...I'm starting to question my entire life at this point...

I’m glad somebody saw this song for what it was instead of just being like “yea school sucks”

Yes, No Logic is fantastic and is very similar to Shoddy Utopia Complex. I love both songs quite a bit.
