Hi, I'm a Protestant (Messianic Jew) Catechist, going to RCIA with my wife. At first I wasn't going to Church for awhile, because how Protestant Churches treat God's law, and my disagreement with Sola Fide doctrine. I didn't have a community to be a part of, and felt I was following Yeshua alone. I would keep Shabbat, and read Torah every week, and my wife would join. My wife is a Protestant non-denominational. My Jewish heritage and culture was a shock for her, and was a complete distain to my in-laws. My strict adherence to the Torah, was quite abrasive to my in-laws. I remember my wife buying a Pizza and I threw it away because it had sausage on it. I want to state that Messianic Jews are not Hebrew roots or the like, but are simply Jews by heritage, that have come to the revelation that Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. When you believe in the Jewish Messiah, foretold by the Prophets, it doesn't cease you from being Jewish. My perspective on Torah, has shattered the doctrine of Sola Fide, and the New Testament writers, the Apostles can not be reconciled with the Sola Fide doctrine. My longing for community lead me to seek the true Church of God. I had known that the early Christians were indeed Jews, and that their Bible was the Tanakh, even in the Gentile congregations. I started to struggle, and wondered what happened to this early Church of the first century. Where did they go? Because, the Protestants were not it. I went on a journey to find them, and as much as I loathed Catholicism, the reality became clear; the Catholic church is the first century Church. I had to wrestle with this realization, and delved into research; looking through the ancient texts, early church fathers, even Didache. I picked apart every strange doctrine that Catholics held to, and the similarities between Judaism and Catholicism was astounding. You'd be surprised how similar a service from a Synagogue and Catholic Congregation are, even down to the litergy. I found that Purgatory, The Eucharist (Passover), The Saints, and numerous other doctrines, were completely Jewish. Much time and research, intellectual thinking, and prayer has been done, and my conclusion is sound. I told all my findings to my wife, and it took her awhile to consider Catholicism, but having seen the risen Lord in her dreams she has decided to go on this journey with me. Now, we are going through RCIA and have made a full commitment to convert to Catholicism.
I love the word “firmament!” Looking forward to hearing more about the faith ♥️
I am so excited to see what you have planned!
