Jokes aside, the fact that the distance between Boa Vista and Belo Horizonte is almost the same as the distance between Florida and Boa Vista just goes to show how insanely big Brazil is
The distance between Chuí (last city in the south of Brazil) and Oiapoque (last city in the north of Brazil) is greater than that from Manaus (capital of the State of Amazonia) to Florida. Brazil is immense!
I never imagined somebody at the ISS would even bother him/herself to search for the Brazilian landmarks to add to the video. Thank you so much, Mr.(or Mrs. or Dr.) astronaut, specially because the last city shown on the video is my hometown. I really miss my youth spent there.
It does have that but a really big part of brazil shown in this video is from a cerrado biome wich resemble a savanna, further south from that cerrado we have the biggest wetland in the world too, there are various biomes in brazil
Thats not deforestation Bro, Thats SEMI ARID biome, ITS called CERRADO, ITS a savana like biome that covers 50% of our territory. People exagerate about deforestation. There was one usar where they marked a Full área of a suposed deforestation om Amazonia that was bigger than Amazônia herself. Goebles was right: say a lie a thousand times until It becomes truth.
Wow man, THANK YOU for that, i really saw the region where i live today in Brazil. I had never seen my country from the ISS, rhat was something i always searched for with 0 results. BLESS YOU! THANKS!!!
Totalmente apaixonado por este vídeo. Demais.
a huge and wonderful world! it's so beautiful to see it from above, it must be a spectacular experience for those people who work from space to observe all this and know that life goes on down there
I think it's amazing to simultaneously see different towns and cities when flying. To simultaneously see different countries and continents is awesome. Let me know when you're over the UK. I'll run outside and wave. 😂😊
Amazing to see the shadows cast by the clouds, it gives you a good feel for the distance. But how sad it was to see the arc of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon wheel into view.
Think of it… The ISS orbits only about 200 miles above the surface of the Earth, which has a diameter of just over 8000 miles. That means that the ISS is orbiting at a height of only about 2.5% of the diameter of the Earth.
@@astronauticast Thanks! I orig had it at 8000, then before posting started to change it to mention the radius instead of the diameter, then changed it back… almost! 🤗
Hi, can we feature this footage and/or similar in our show? We like to feature fan submitted photos or videos of space to get new people excited for space. Its great for engagement and this video is very impactful which fosters that emotion we are looking for to capture that new space fan!

The landmarks were added by us (AstronautiCAST team), and not by astronauts.
@@astronauticast, thanks for the info.

Wow... Hugs from Belo Horizonte/MG - Brazil!
And of course, São Paulo was covered with clouds. 🙃
I love the density of the Amazon rainforest, it's almost indistinguishable from the sea at times.
insanely beautiful, unfortunately you can also see the large scale deforestation...but its basically what we did in europe 100s of years ago

Also a reminder of just how thin our atmosphere is…just a thin layer that keeps us all alive…
Dá ver como o inverno no Brasil é seco.

Really cool. I live 460 Km from São Félix do Xingu.

That treeless area that appeared just after the city of Santarém is not the Amazon, it is another Brazilian biome called Cerrado.
Awesome this trip. Really fast to get in Brazil from SD!
Amazing video! Makes me think I can take a taxi from Rio de Janeiro to South Dakota.

Belo Horizonte ❤
Pretty awesome. Thanks for the video.
Lindas imagens.
Ah Planeta terra !!! 😌👍🏻

Is this video sped up any?
Yep. About 2800 photos taken during 20 minutes "real" timespan.

Search on google the ISS groundtrack; this sequence is a tipical south-east descending node trajectory.
@@astronauticast Muito interessante. Obrigado.

The deforestation in Brazil is INSANE
The yellow part is called cerrado, it is a tropical savannah in eastern Brazil.
You can really see the rainforest destruction and clearing.
The sight from Amazon River is impressive.
Lindo Vídeo!
