  • We kayak 107 miles down an iconic wild Florida river: the mighty Apalachicola. This river system contains a top biodiversity hotspot, an extensive forested floodplain which is the center of tupelo honey production, Florida's largest geological outcropping, and a wealth of plant and animal life.
Every year, a team of kayakers raises money for Apalachicola Riverkeeper, a nonprofit group that advocates for the river and its bay. This year, they're a mix of locals and outdoors enthusiasts from as far away as North Carolina. Trip coordinator Doug Alderson says this is the most experienced group they've ever had- and they've smashed the fundraising record.
Join them as they paddle, and camp, and climb their way from Woodruff Dam to Apalachicola Bay.
And as always, you can dig a little deeper on the WFSU Ecology Blog. This post links to several other stories along the river, allowing you to further explore the Apalachicola River basin: blog.wfsu.org/...

Nice work. Some year soon I want to do this. And, I must admit, I was looking, thinking, some of that Apalach arrival serenade would have been fitting.
