    Really nice video. I had a similar 773 long haul experience with United in Premium. I was pretty disappointed with the meals I got, but after seeing this video I think I got off a bit easy. That food looked embarrassing for Polaris. It's really unfortunate because United knock it out of the park with their seat and amenities. If they could just get the service down they would be great.

    • @TheAircraftKing

      Absolutely, United’s Polaris is really good with most other aspects. The seat is great, the Polaris amenities are wonderful. But an improvement in food even back to what it used to be pre COVID on these routes would go a long long way

    Hey! Good review, I think you did a good job of covering all the bases and mentioning certain aspects that need to be improved. With that said, I'm based in DC. I'm planning to visit Mumbai during winter break, would you recommend Emirates or United for it? They both would take 17 hours but basically it's about whether to take the long haul first via DXB or take it after the connecting flight via EWR. I'm probably gonna fly economy however haha

      Emirates definitely no questions asked. Emirates has better food, service is a little better on average, seats are much more comfy, much more amenities on the long flight, and they have full chargers at every seat. Emirates is the way to go

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  2 года назад +1

      There is a decent amount of noise definitely but 9L is still tucked in away, there’s lots of additional foot space compared to the other seats and the engine + wing view (which I enjoy) is the best from 9A/9L.
      I would argue 9A is marginally better as it’s next to the massive lav that has enough space to change

      @@TheAircraftKing You probably already have a schedule for your upcoming flights, but a suggestion from me is to fly the new United Premium economy on a 767, 777, or 787. I flew from Houston to Santiago, Chili on a 767. I had a great experience and I think this would be good for a future Trip Review. Also, you should try out United's brand new 737 MAX 8. @@bostonaviation4860 thanks for your comment, and yup you are right my work travel is pretty booked up for the next 2 months as of right now. But to address your comments about Premium economy:
      I have actually flown 777 Premium plus a few times and I even made a video of it 2 years ago flying from Mumbai to Newark. I haven’t tried the 767 yet for PP so maybe that’s one to try. As for the 787, I’ve sat in the seat, but only as an economy plus seat on domestic flight.
      For the 737 MAX 8, I’ve had the pleasure of flying it between San Fran and LA and it’s a spectacular plane I love it. The IFE is so incredibly responsive and it’s amazing. I don’t know that I’ll make a video of this particular aircraft unless it’s a longer route that I make a video for.
      However all my flights regardless of RUclips or not I do share on my Instagram and I’ve made my full thoughts on that aircraft when I flew it a few months back. But all great ideas thanks for the input. Always looking for the opportunity to try something I haven’t tried.

    9:33 Goodness gracious, this meal in POLARIS?! This is more like an economy meal with some fancy plating and those shenanigans. Plus that's just a tiny slice of grilled chicken with a heap load of veggies, and then leaves to eat.
    12:46 WHAT. A. JOKE. Just a bunch of sandwiches really won't help with a very tiny, bland and not to mention that chicken looked HORRENDOUS.
    14:24 .....That's breakfast? I could make this at home so easily I wouldn't even have completed this video. But seriously, United is going CHEAP on catering.
    Nice vid! I flew on the Chicago-Delhi (and back) route in Economy on United's 789, seats were good, but the food was just pathetic. Just some rice, dal, and some green paneer thing (the paneer tasted HORRIFIC), with just some M&M's as "dessert". And on top of that, I could barely even fit the meal on my tray table as it was incredibly tiny. Heck, I heard someone literally threw up in the bathroom after eating the meal, that's how horrific it was. Same thing on the DEL-ORD flight.
    All for the pleasure of $1100 roundtrip. That too the whole flight was full.
    United definitely has a monopoly in the Indian market, as American only started, so it's mainly been Air India and United. Air India's seats are horrible, but the food is decent, and of course, you need good seats for a 16-hour journey. There are a sizeable number of Indians in the USA, and both of the 3 main routes to DEL (SFO-DEL, ORD-DEL, EWR/JFK-DEL) have exploded, meaning they need to cost save with the tickets, so they give incredibly horrific meals, and basically no service. United has comfortable seats, even in Economy, they didn't cheap out like Air India, their movie selection is good, which is what you need for a very long flight.
    Also, I would've flown Emirates, but there is no JetBlue service to ORD or JFK from my hometown of Columbus. I have flown Emirates from Syracuse to Delhi, and man, that was amazing, the A380 is sooo comfortable, and the food was also great.

    • @TheAircraftKing
      @TheAircraftKing  2 года назад

      Yeah sorry to hear. Economy seats are as standard as it gets across many major airlines in terms of seat pitch, the seat, and amenities, but they can definitely do better on the food front, especially for an airline that’s so profit focused

    • @aagg436
      @aagg436 2 года назад

      @@TheAircraftKing @The Aircraft King Yeah, the food wasn't that great, because I'm North Indian, I know how good paneer and dal should taste, and that tasted so weird, they didn't really even tell what the meal was, just some green paneer thing and dal and rice. Also, that food experience was on the flight back, and for breakfast, we had these incredibly soggy dosas with heap loads of masala (couldn't even finish the dosa with all that masala) and some weird red chutney-ish thing. For my flight on ORD-DEL, at least the breakfast was nice, as it was like a mezze platter with pita and hummus, which I enjoyed. For dinner, it was almost the same thing as what I mentioned. The IFE was at least decent, just binging Hot Ones for some reason and watching some other movies. The whole Indian movie selection was very limited, which was pretty disappointing considering almost 90% of the people were Indian on the flight. The air India seats are dirty and most of the time, the screens don't work and yet we pay thousands of dollars.

    Instead of putting grill marks on their chicken breast (in a guise to make it fancy) and then making a total disaster of the meals, wouldn't it have been easier to just serve a plate of basmati rice with a side of saag paneer and chick peas masala (these can easily be mass produced perhaps even more cheaply) which would be more appetizing to the majority of passengers on this route? UA needs to rethink their catering!

      Yes you are right June 1st the service changed, and thankfully my ticket was covered by work but I would hate to be the guy paying $8000 for this ticket and getting that, as many people do. Imagine dropping your own $8k and getting that, when on Qatar you could get much better service and even a equally good if not better seat.
      And people absolutely can be judgmental of the pandemic era food policies. It’s a 2 way street. Stop charging absurdly premium prices if the airline is going drop standards and give a sub-premium meal. If the airline had on average lower prices for these same tickets then it’s a fair ball game, but United continued to charge the same, and even more on these india routes than pre COVID.

      Fair, but then how about you pay $8000 for that ticket and tell me that you’d accept that type of food. Thankfully this came out of work’s pocket but I’d be pissed for $8000 for that.
      Different people have different appetites, I exercise a lot and have a high metabolism so I eat a lot. That said, all the food was to show all the options you had at your disposal as a Polaris passenger. And I definitely don’t expect a Gordon Ramsay type of meal, especially on United.
      That said, let me tell you, United has had plenty of opportunities to “go back to normal”. American Airlines was behind united on the return of hot meals, and far passed United even at the time of this video on the exact same route too (JFK-DEL but same thing). They brought back multiple courses, respectable portions, and even the sundae cart. United is notoriously not caring about its dining quality or quantity and any other flyer that flies United as much as I do and even more so will tell you the same. The video did not do Justice to how small the portions were. This was a 14 hour flight, a time period in which many people eat three full meals.
