Posted their encore Naked Raygun cover a while back and now we have the rest of the footage to enjoy. Loved this band. Saw Mark & Al's previous band Shorty's first and final shows as a teenager. Witnessed Shorty break-up on stage with the drummer throwing his sticks and leaving the stage(not his fault they were trying out a new bassist that had difficult shoes to fill). These guys were kind enough to invite me to their first show ever in Minnesota as U.S. MAPLE at Carleton College. Brought a friend and we were the only two people there to see them besides the opening act. Lost track of how many times I saw them perform and hope that there will be a reunion some day.

Thanks for uploading this! I'm a LITTLE bit too young to have really appreciated them at the time but I did see them live once in 2004. Thank god.
One of the members, forget who, said they have two rules. No cans onstage, and no merch. They broke their own rule that night and brought a can onstage.
You would know... did they ever have any merch or t-shirts for sale? If so, I want all of it.
I owned an official T-shirt but can't remember if I bought it at a show or through a Skin Graft Records order form via snail mail. It was an illustration by guitarist Mark Shippy.
There are 2 shirts that I know of. I have a blue, pink, and white one with their faces on it (which I think I got in Philly when they toured with Pavement) and yes Mark created the other one. The one Mark made I think had some kind of design with lines or circles on it. My friend owns that one but I rarely see him.
At least you got to see them once. Was it at the Abbey Pub with King Kong and Rope? That is the last time I saw them.

amazing performance! i never got to see these guys but this was almost as good. what was that last song? EDIT: the last song is a cover of “the peacemaker” by naked raygun. maple really should have tackled that one in the studio, damn!
Did you ever get to film any of their early shows (around 1993 I’d guess)? Around when they were playing some of the Long Hair In Three Stages stuff?
No I didn't have a video camera then. I remember seeing them in a jazz club venue(any idea?) with The lonesome Organist once. There were some regular Jazz fans there maybe left over from an early show in the same venue shouting about Al's singing in a funny way
@@marhabrine4516 haha I can only imagine their reaction to hearing them for the first time. Don’t know what type of jazz venue they’d play at. It’s pretty amazing that you got to see those shows though, is this the only one you filmed or did you get more?

Amazing, thank you! You didn't happen to film them in 1999 did you? I saw the Empty Bottle show in May and the Lounge Ax show in August, and would kill to see those again.
Think I was there at that show in May. Do you remember who else performed? It's possible that I just missed it because I moved out of Chicago that month. But this is the only show I video taped.
@@marhabrine4516 Ha, I was moving TO Chicago at the end of May and got into town the day before the show to look for an apartment. I only remember US Maple playing, but found a listing online that openers were: Small Wonder, Duster, and Gunga Din.
