    I have a Star 275, it’s very similar to the one in your video, but I have an issue, it has new batteries, new film and everything seems alright, except for the sound when i take the photo, it’s so simple, it doesn’t sound like the video, it’s just a clic, i’m worried it’s not working correctly

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  2 года назад

      Kodak Star 275 does not advance the film automatically like Pro-Star 222 on this video. Each time you take a photo you need to advance the film by rotating the wheel on the top right of back (with your thumb). That is why you only hear a click.

    Hi! Not sure if you'll even respond but i recently found a Prostar 555. Not the same as in the video but there's not much information on the internet. The camera seems fine: film advances and rewinds, shutter works, but flash switch isn't moving and there's a constant red light in the viewfinder, right at the top of the frame. How do i turn on the flash and disable that light? You're kinda my only hope in understanding this cam as i can't find anything about it, even the manual

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  9 месяцев назад

      Hi. I'm not certain, since I don't have that camera, but from what I can see online, I think that the flash is automatic. That means that you can't turn it on and off but it fires on its own. I don't know what the light means. Maybe that the flash is charging? You should give the camera a try with film and evaluate your results. These cameras were poorly made and it is very probable that the flash is somehow broken. Also try using normal batteries. Not the modern extra strong ones. That sometimes causes problems.

    Videos are a lifesaver! What ISO films does it recognise? Because currently I am using 200iso and they are either majorly over/underexposed. Does it only recognise 100&400 iso film?

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  3 года назад

      According to the manual, the camera should accept 100, 200 and 400 ISO. Maybe the problem occurs when using the flash? The flash has different ranges depending on the ISO: 100 ISO - up to 3m, 200 ISO - up to 3,7m and 400 ISO up to 4,5m.

    Hi, i have the question. If I didn't put the film roll to the camera yet but i put the new batteries in, when I pull the flash switch the red light should turn on? Or the film must be inside? :) I just don’t know if the flash works or not

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  3 года назад +1

      Yes, the light will turn on even without film, because the flash is charging. During this time it will not fire. When the light goes of, then you can press the shutter release button and the flash should work (even without film inside).

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  3 года назад

      You can see the snaps in the small window next to the shutter release button, as you see in this video in 01:46 If the indicator is not moving it is either broken or the film is not properly rolled in and it doesn't move. If its broken you will need to remember or take notes on how many exposures you've got. Usually its 36 in total

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  2 года назад

      Have you finished taking all the photos in the film? Sometimes it gets stuck, or it might be broken. If you have film inside, you can do the following: In total darkness (for example, totally dark room) open the back of the camera and push the rewind button at the bottom, against the two arrows to make sure it remains there. Then close the back and push the rewind button towards the direction of the arrows and see if it works now. Also try using fresh batteries. If nothing works it means it is stuck, so you should try pulling the film out with your hands (very carefully and in total darkness!!!). You can also take it to a photography shop and they will take it out safely for you.

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  2 года назад +1

      I think that in Star 111 you need to advance the film yourself (by rotating the advance dial on the back, top right). Also it will not rewind automatically the film once it ends. You will do it yourself by rotating the rewind crank on top of the camera. There must be a rewind release switch somewhere, probably on the bottom, that you need to press in order to start rewinding the film. Apart from these, the camera must be the same. The batteries in 111 are needed only for the flash.

May I know what happen? And when I insert the film do I manually wind the film or use the winding button? Please help me

    • @FilmCameras
      @FilmCameras  2 года назад

      Try the following: open the back of the camera without any film. Push the rewind button at the bottom, against the two arrows. It should remain there. Load the film and close the back. The film should now advance normally, one frame at a time. Now, when you finish taking photos, push the rewind button towards the direction of the arrows. It should start rewinding the film until it is fully rolled back into the canister.

      Make sure you are using new batteries and that you've had them inserted the correct way. Then open the lens on the front (see 1:22) and press the shutter release button. If everything is ok, the camera should work, even without film inside. If it doesn't, try switching the flash on (1:52) and see if the charging red light goes on. If nothing of the above happens, then there must be something wrong and better take it for repair.

      Hi! When you have the flash activated (by pulling the switch as in the video) and after having waited for about 30 seconds, can the camera still take a photo? Do you hear the advance mechanism working as in without flash? If so, the flash bulb might be broken and can't fire. (you don't need to have a film roll inside to test these)

    • @acyscorner

      @@FilmCameras Yes. It won't turn off either like you showed in the video. I'll just have to get it checked out. Thank you so much for responding, I appreciate it. Since you opened the back door and the number stayed at "38" then probably the film counter is broken. If so, the film will advance properly but you'll have to remember how many frames you've got left.
