Keith Young used a backpack possibly once for 30 minutes and my wife was sat on the back of the Africa twin for x3 1 day trips to France . I don’t think it was either of these but yes that’s what I thought it might have been but I really don’t think it was . Who knows what it was . Either way Oxford kindly replaced the jacket which was still like new . 👍
Enjoy your videos, well made and informative I’d say. On a side note, I was based at MAN for TCX on A330, no longer obviously, took early retirement. Hope things OK with yourself work wise... noticed your picture... I digress. I have the Oxford Hinterland and it seems fine, but tend to use Rukka Nirvala for Winter months and rain!
Thanks . Lgw ezy. To be honest with the way it’s going at the moment I’ll be amazed if there is an aviation sector left in the UK next year ! Possibly Ryanair? There is always the government’s track and trace team as a potential employer I guess ! Lol tough times ahead ........
Please consider ditching that irritating, repetitive 'music'. It's like a kids' tv theme stuck on loop. I'm sure it's useful at a CIA black site but I suggest overkill on a RUclips video. Thanks for finally switching it off at the end as I was considering scraping my finger nails on a blackboard to ease the pain. :-) As for the jacket, I had to get mine replaced when the mesh lining stitching tore at the neck. It seems they're not the most robust of items, which is presumably why they're the cheapest of the laminate jackets available, but fit and warmth is fine. Happy riding.
Had my wife on the back only for about 4 days of riding, no more . Shouldn’t do it if that was it . But Oxford were very good and replaced the jacket under warranty. No problems since with replacement jacket , even with the wife on the back . Good jacket for price but would love a Rukka/Klim but just don’t to the mileage to warrant expense ! Ride safe 👍
Had to replace my mondial jacket after 2 months due to leakage on the arms and the trousers after 7 months because the zips went. The replacements so far haven’t had any issues :)
Nathan Scott I had heard of initial quality control somewhere on the internet . Are you satisfied with your gear ? Would have gone Rukka etc but the wife would have gone bananas at me for the cost !!
GSD321 I’m a relatively new rider but wanted to ride all year so this seemed the best gear for my budget, apart from the initial problems I’ve been really happy with Oxford and my local infinity store resolving the problems I had, but I’ve heard people with £1000+ gear complain too so think it’s just one of those things. Personally I think the Mondial gear is great, toasty in winter and cool in summer with the vents, plus the waterproofing on the replacement gear has held up really well
Jacket is warm, waterproof and its cheap for a laminated without DWR treatment. It has as a waterproof membrane laminated to the outer liner called dry2dry with a 10000mm hydrostatic head which is less than 1/3 of the 28000mm not 3xs more expensive stay dry for 11 hours shifts under heavy stormy rains (not 2 or 3h like this one) goretex pro laminated 3l membranes. This jacket because it doesn't have a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment on the outer liner soaks up loads of water and stays wet for 2 to 3 days depending on your house's temperature. Sent back and will never buy a non laminated goretex pro jacket without a DWR treatment on the outer again as without this it gets soaked and takes 2 to 3 days to dry without using the heater as required which is not good for professional every day use but for an occasional sunday greenlaning outing should be fine. You get what you pay for.
Hi, yes I do. I have 2 of their jackets now, the grey one for winter when I can layer up and a Black one, a size smaller for a snugger fit when I don't need the extra layers on. That said I also have a Kris heated jacket and thats brilliant, so cold weather is now Keis heated jacket, t shirt and the Mondial black jacket= really comfy even at 0-5 degrees Waterproofing is still ok, but the seat area of the trousers does get a bit damp.
@gsd32i thanks for the reply. Looking at getting the hinterland jacket as it is AA safety rated. Also the vents are on the side of the jacket and I think wearing an airbag vest it will allow more air in the summer.
Hi, I have since purchased another in Black , size Medium , as I has lost some weight! With a 40 inch chest and 33inch waist this size is better for me now. It’s ok without the liner out too. The medium size allows me to have the best of both worlds for summer and winter with the jacket being just a little bit loose with the liner out. With the liner in and several layers on the jacket becomes a closer fit but still able to look over my shoulder etc. If your 40-41 inch chest go for the medium.
Great review , based on what you told me I just bought the same suit , could you tell me where you bought you jacket / coat hangers in the garage look Very good and sturdy . Many thanks
I know I’m a late ⏰ arrival to the comments and when you made the vid 😂😂. Two questions 1. How is the jacket getting on now & 2. I purchased a KNOX urban pro under Armour jacket 🧥. I’m looking into a jacket I can wear over the top ( the KNOX is body tight fitting - so Armour stays in place incase of an off . I brought it as I live in Australia and do a lot of ADV ridding , I’m doing a round Australia trip soon and what a jacket that’s relatively compact ( as will probably only use in the morning, rain 🌧 and around the camp ⛺️ fire at night . I would also take the Armour out as well . Basically so it’s used for months as my morning jacket, night jacket 🧥 and rain jacket.
Hi . I have both the medium size and large sized jackets . I am a 40 inch chest and 33-34 waist. With the jacket liner fitted the medium is a bit snug and just right . I do have their own back protector in , the soft squidgy yellow one . With this out and a combined back and chest protector you would be fine BUT I couldn’t say if the shoulder protection on a motocross style wearable protective jacket would cause any tightness etc . Nice jacket though for the price . Off to Wales in the mountains for 4 days and the forecast is rain 🌧 so we’ll see how well the jacket does . It is pretty good on the hot weather as you can open all the vents etc , obvious with the thermal lining removed . My hard days of motorcycling are slightly behind me now and I choose to ride when it’s between 16-21 degrees , not too hot not too cold ! Lol 😂
Hmmm, the mention of cat hairs and my thought is at some point, a cat has done what cats do and done the clawing thing on your jacket. Maybe, maybe not, but hats off to Oxford for replacing it.
Hi . Strange one with the jacket as the replacement has done many more miles and no issue ! Unless my cats can jump 4 feet into the air and swipe at the jacket whilst it was hanging up on the tubing as in the video , then I am still at a loss . As you say hats off to Oxford . The jackets are really good value ATM and definitely worth a purchase . 👍
I just purchased one of these, absolutely not worth the money, size comes up small, lining has ripped within a day of use. The liner is rubbish, Do not recommend. I have an Oxford Harrington that is fine, these Mondial are cheap crap basically, the trousers aren't any better seam split within a month of use
I would contact Oxford direct and tell them what has happened . I’ve had my suit for a few years and admittedly I am not a daily rider ,but both jacket and trousers have been good , especially for the price .
How you got a new jacket out of this is beyond me lol as iv said , a blind man could see this has been done by chaffing , AS IT IS CHAFFED ! i dont mean to fall out with you but it has to be said , this didnt just happen on its own pal lol i have had this same jacket in blue for a few months and worn it every day with NO signs of chaffing of any kind but then i havent had anything rubbing against mine ?? you know this is no fault of the jacket yourself, i actually feel for Oxford after seeing this , they obviously are a fantastic company or they dont need the bad publicity you might cause them by UNFAIRLY trashing their product if they didnt give you a new jacket, like AS IF ! that chaffing happened all on its own ?? Please dont insult my intelligence. ;) This is just WRONG !
Hi. Thanks for your input . As a non daily rider and only going out at weekends etc I am not a heavy user of equipment . I clearly felt that there was an issue, as is my entitlement and raised the issue with Oxford. The replacement jacket has been fine with no issues and not treated any differently .Oh and by the way I wasn't trashing the jacket.....indeed I like it so much I purchased another one in a different colour . Glad your's has been ok they are really good jackets for the price. Ride safe. Regards.

The damage on the jacket looks like it could only have been done by chaffing.........maybe by your pillions clothing??? (or a backpack if you use one)

Looks like velcro damage, maybe your wifes jacket was having the zip cover open and the velcro was rubbing on your back.
