Hey neighbor. I love this design! Looks like you don't get the wind we get since you didn't set the posts in the ground. I'm going to be building this starting today with the exception that it will be a little bigger to house all of our birds, the underside will be a goose/duck house and I'll set the posts in concrete.
Any day you can build a home for your chickens and not be stuck in a city with 1.5 mill trying to get to work in under an hour is a GREAT day mate. Keep it up you are an inspiration to us all.
Awesome video. Got to be tough to live up here. Great family project. I live about 35 miles south of you and this morning is even nastier. 12 degrees, snowing and blowing....
@SetiawanAP love their Music choice . They should add the titles & name of singers . Do you know the title of the song at 16:45 / #21 Husband & Wife Install 56 Degree Angle METAL ROOFING: Off-Grid Cabin Build
With it that high you need to consider insulating your nesting boxes, floor and rest of sides and top. Yes you need ventilation but not that much without covering most in winter. Will be top heavy and needs to be tied down. Also need a way to scoop out the bedding, makes great compost. Will want way to heat the coop in winter months and window for summer breeze as well.
Shouldn’t be a need to insulate the chicken coop unless you live where the temperature drops regularly to -10 degrees and lower. It isn’t that cold here. But we will see next winter how they do.
Over the years, I have seen quite a few different designs. Every thing from a cut up 55 gallon drum to a walk-in facility. Chickens need to hide during the night, water and either heat or ventilation. Feed helps also. Baby chicks need a whole lot more. Looking good so far
Very salute with the hard work of you and your family, Sir :) Just wondering about the precision, are u repeat the measurement process and retake the video all the time, or is it already precise when you do that, the coops its looks very precise... Anyway, tq for the video, Sir God bless you and your famz, keepsm:)ng
i would venture to guess the floor height is around 40". 36" for clearance for a wheelbarrow then your framing on top of that. he said in the video the roof pitch is a 6:12 pitch and the floor was a 4x8 sheet of plywood with the 4 corners notched for the 4x4 to sit within. and spacing looked like he spaced the boards 24" on center.
That’s a great start on the coop! I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I love that music you had playing! Man I need to find a better music source ;) Can’t wait to see chickens in that home!!
Hello! We are trying to build this and are running into issues trying to figure out some of the measurements... I was wondering if you could help? We are even willing to buy the plans from you if you have them
Getting ready to build a coop according to your design. How many 2x4s - 8 feet long? Sure would be helpful to know as we need to purchase the materials. Myself (grandma), daughter and 24 year old granddaughter tackling it. No carpentry skills. Really appreciate your post. This looks do-able. We live in Klamath Falls Oregon. Not quite as cold as Sandpoint 😊. Thanks!
@@sarah_henley Oh yeah ... I forgot ... you were only there four of you Sarah, Seth, pak. Martin and bu. Jullie ... I do not think, if there is no one in the video, it must be responsible for video recording ... 😀😀😀😀😀😀 btw yesterday I saw in your father's instant story there is a photo of you being a servant through mcdonald ... Have you started working there?
your assessment is correc! ask any american he will tell you woodwork at 12 degrees is very difficult because wood freezes then you cannot drill easily, cut easily, join screws easily. it becomes all togh. for woodwork one needs at least 30 degrees.
I love this coop. Purchased most of the materials. Do you happen to have plans for specifics on how to build it?

Having a limited budget I would have thought you might build using free pallets, they can be found everywhere and you do have a trailer ...
The budget is looking better these days. Still limited and always will be.
