This error was intentional, and therefore technically not an error. There were several examples of cross over stampings between quarters and dollars. All intentional. A dollar planchet will not fit through the quarter line. It would have had to been placed between the dies manually.

So I was new to numismatics about 6 months ago I've made it my mission to be able to identify with the naked eye or at least if I should inspect it further I found that there are so many videos of coins that you will never find not because they're not real because I actually understand now how dies get damaged and how minting errors happen it's not something that you just let keep going especially something like this as soon as it gets to the QA part of the inspection where they start to allow the machine to continuously manufacturer this would have already been addressed therefore there's a handful or less of these coins don't waste your time you'd find a 1982 small date 3.1 G before you find this coin😅😅😅😅😮😂😂

I got this in 2000 at Carowinds on a school field trip. I put $10 in a machine to get a drink and it gave me the new golden dollars as change. I had no idea I was only 13 and believed that I was gonna lose my dollar because I thought someone done it themselves. SMH I put it back into another drink machine. Hindsight is really 20-20.
