- We head back to the late 1960s in this archive clip, when big 'thumpers' still ruled the roost in Motocross and two-strokes were emerging but not taken seriously!
In 'The Roughriders', Jeff Smith and Arthur Lampkin are on works BSAs, taking on the likes of Rolf Tibblin and Bill Nilsson at several classic venues including Namur, Sweden and Hawestone Park, UK.

The era when I first started following the sport. Amazing how spectators were so close to the action back then and the presence of trees would never be allowed. Amazingly, serious accidents were rare.
Used to watch the Cotswold Scramble in the early 60,s
I was alive then, but unfortunately not old enough to enjoy it. I wish I was about 16 in the mid sixties, the best time.
Your so right, I was 16 in 1961 it was a fabulous time for pretty well everything. Could be a bit of the old rose tinted glasses but looking at today's world I wouldn't want to be 16 now. Never been a motorcyclist but loved to watch the scrambling. Golden days before they end sang Roy Orbison and he was damn right.
Those were the days.

Yeah 50ish years ago and happens to us all
Roger Decoster Said in a video, that when he first came to America, thar they had scrambles racing but they didn't have motocross in America the way the were doing in in Europe, I wish he had clarified that a bit, what were the differences? , I always thought it was just a name change.
