Thanks a lot for watching the video Jeff. Thanks a lot for the compliment as well. I really appreciate it.
This video was great! Just like being there - awesome camera control so it wasn’t disorienting. Very helpful to see you buying things, asking questions, etc. Especially interesting to see you, as a Filipina, interacting with other locals vs. an ExPat interacting with locals.
Ist so hot there baby mae how do they keep the chicken and fish cool and safe and fresh its worrying dont think i could eat anything that has been stored properly
Such an amazing and overwhelming experience. So many people and different types of food, its just amazing that places like this exist in the world. My first feeling was being a bit overwhelmed with the sheer numbers of venders and food. My second thought was about the health safety as I didnt see any of the venders selling their goods wearing gloves or packing their items in proper protective containers. Everything was open and exposed with no one wearing any protection to keep THEIR germs and bacteria from getting into the food they are selling. For those of us in the USA we NEVER see things like this anymore becuase of food and health regulations. BUT, we also rarely see food born disease or health issues. Usually our issues are in how we cook and prepare things after we get them from the store. But the stores MUST ensure all food is properly handled safely and packaged safely so no bacteria or disease is spread through the food. Its' not a perfect system but it s far better than a completely unregulated and OPEN market with no standards. My concern is you would NEVER know what you are going to get in all that food. Yes, I understand everything must be COOKED thoroughly to KILL the germs and bacteria so this is an important part of the AFTER care of the food. It does look like all the food is FRESHLY processed that day? Meaning, its not like all this food is sitting around out in the open for days waiting to be sold and then sold later, right? Or, is it BUYER BEWARE and anything is possible? Meaning, you have to learn whom to TRUST to go to for healthy safe food? It did not look like there was alot of people buying food at the time you made the video. How much of the unpurchased food is thrown away each day? Or do they give it away at the end of the day? Also, is the food all grown in Dumaguete or is it imported from other areas in the Philippines, or from other countries? And do they grow it ORGANICALLY or do they use pesticides? Thank You Mae for bringing this amazing video to us, I appreciate all your dedication and hard work. Blessings to you, Paul and your family!
