I have a few hours before my exam and i have another question about A3.. sorry to bother! The left hand it always (normally) softer than the right hand because the right hand is the melody. But somehow my left hand’s rhythm isn’t in the right “pace” any tips?
Um, most of our focus tends to be on the lead hand, the one with the melody (in this case the right) leaving the other hand to tag along as best it can. Try focusing your attention on the subordinate hand (the left) and let IT dictate the tempo. Good luck!

Great playing, so helpful thank you! I’m currently in the process of choosing my grade six pieces but I don’t know which ones to pick! Do you have any favourites that are nicest to play?
@@aeth2891 Maybe perfect pitch. I had a teacher who could tell I had one note wrong in a 10-note chord whilst he was in the other room answering the door to the next student. Hi, I really like the way you play... By the way, I need your advice on whether play the LH quavers detached. Ive watched other people play this piece and some of them played detached in the quavers...
@Laura de Haan Sry if I ask to much questions but can you do ABRSM 8 right away or do you have to do 6 before. Because I heard I have to do 6 before attempting 8
I jumped grades a lot, so I started on G2, then G3, then STRAIGht to g5, after I did that I did the theory like3 times, now I'm learning g6 during quarantine lol
If this is what piano music in abrsm exams sound like then I made a wise choice giving it up at grade 6 level in the early 80's. Listening to this, these pieces sound very tedious and would give me as much enthusiasm to learn them as watching grass growing.
1.Trinity results arrive quicker (invariably the day of or the day after the exam) 2.Aural test are a little different - no singing for Trinity. 3. Range of pieces very similar (sometimes even some overlap) but Trinity have more of an emphasis on the contemporary and I would say that, from Grade 6, ABRSM are more demanding. 4. Fewer scales & arpeggios with Trinity (organised very logically through the grades) but 3 exercises are needed. 5. Trinity offer musical knowledge (spoken questions) up to Grade 5 which can be a substitute for sight-reading. www.julianlambert.org
@@JulianLambert Yes so many are great pieces! maybe I should try learning them all, then focussing on the ones I enjoy - that way I can learn more than just the 3 for the exam. Also, I love your piano playing it's so clear and expressive at the same time
I missed out on taking my grade 5 at the end of March as it was cancelled, moving straight into grade 6 now and can either use these pieces or the new syllabus issued in July. Im doing the B2 and i have a question about it. I’m not very good with rubato and i dont understand if you are meant to do like really really slow time difference compared to the actual piece timing.
Ah, good question Krystal. Music notation is, at best, a vague representation of the music. It doesn't show ever detail of phrasing: this note minutely louder than the previous one, this note a little longer. If we spoke at exactly the same tempo we would sound robotic (though I suspect with advancing robotics, that phrase will soon be old-fashioned). And the same is true of music. We have to 'feel' it, music has to be a form of expression ...and hopefully each of us will express it slightly differently. If it helps, try to put into words the sentiment of the music then, 'translate' it back into sound as you play the piano. Best wishes, J
