To be honest, 300 bars was pretty dope and he fired a fuck ton of shots at everybody, but to me it's not really the masterpiece that a lot of people try to make it out to be and it's definitely not a lyrical masterpiece.
It's basically 15-20 different verses on different beats, with various styles all blended together. If you take it for what it is, it's a compilation off diss tracks mashed together and if you took each one and scrutinized them you won't find anything really spectacular.
To me it has always seemed like he started 20 different disses, couldn't find any inspiration, mashed them all together and called it a 15 minute diss track. That's just my opinion and I have absolutely no evidence of it, but when I hear it that's what it sounds like to me. One of it's biggest hype points back then was, "IT'S A 15 MINUTE DISS!!!"

Yep. And it is the fact that The Game is a great rapper who knows how to make great diss tracks that made "The Black Slim Shady" so disappointing. If had been, say, Nick Cannon who made "The Black Slim Shady" then we would have been pleasantly surprised instead of disappointed.
