- Arma Reforger is the perfect Arma game for me (a smoothbrain). I feel welcomed in Arma Reforger and I think my gameplay speaks for itself as to why. My mil sim experience has always stopped around Squad and Hell Let Loose but Arma feels like the logical next step in hyper realistic first person shooter for me.

I remember I was at base when I seen a bunch of enemy troops approaching from the treeline. So I just swiss cheesed everything in that direction. I knew I was gonna die but I was the only one there and it felt like a damn final stand the way I was holding them all back. Then someone said over comms “You’re shooting teammates you idiot”
Has the same vibe as “enemy’s near that direction” “copy that removing that direction”
My first experience with this game was getting a jeep, my friend hopping in, and us taking a 30 minute drive along the beautiful coast. I then looked away for one second and we slammed into a rock ejecting us both into a treeline and killing us instantly.

Yea it’s killing the game rn but the arma community is super dedicated and the Devs are working on it. There’s gonna be a big update later this month that adds destruction and mortars. If they fix the DDoS we gonna be eating good

Yo mr habbi. Grab binoculars from the armory press B to pull them out. Use them to check if friendly
The default kit comes with them, so you don't even need to get them from an armory. They are very handy for telling friend from foe in the distance, though. People need to use them more.

Been playing Arma since the first one, called "Operation Flashpoint" in 2001, the best milsim games ever, I can't play any others because I'm spoiled :). Looking forward to watching our smooth brained friend try this hahaha. and BTW World Militaries have used OF/Arma for training purposes for decades.

That happens way too often to me even if using the binoculars, even though the sensible thing is to use platoon chat.
edit: But watching this video, I see what I already often experience in-game: People use the binos WAY too rarely, they are so fast to switch to and using the weapon afterwards in reforger that most of the fights you actually got the time to check the enemy with a closer look.
This just reminds me that the chaotic nature of the arma 2 dayz mod will always overshadow the standalone. People defend it being better but we all truly know what was superior and it wasn’t because of the quality or how much money was put into it.

The fun part is all this confusion could be avoided if people stuck to their uniforms and equipment but they would rather have the potential advantage of being unpredictable than having good nonverbal communication with their faction.

I don't know if this is really how it works, but this is how i think of it:
The driving that you think you're doing and that your computer is showing you at 60+fps isn't the whole story. The server is also simulating your driving at maybe 25fps (the worst i've seen is 8fps). Low fps makes all the collisions bouncier and more violent. Most of the time the two are close enough that the server allows your local version to stand, but if something violent happens, it's the server's version that wins, so that's the version you need to care about, even though it's mostly hidden from you.
More likely it's just Arma physics being Arma physics. "What's that? a collision? Well, how about I throw the participants in a random direction at a random speed? That's how physics works, right?"

Arma reforger launched on both xbox and pc back in may of 2022. It only came out on ps5 recently, not consoles in general

This is such a good fucking game. It’s so horrible the DDOS that the game is receiving right now. I hope it gets fixed soon. Also dude you can use binoculars to positively identify camos and gun shapes. Also good rule of thumb is don’t steal enemy vehicles so that your friends don’t kill you lol.
As someone who has played since launch, you said some things that didn't sit quite right with me.
The best way to identify someone from afar is binoculars. If they're close and don't have a name, then they are enemies.
At 7:30 you are looting the separate NPC faction that is hostile to both Americans and Soviets. They are called FIA, a more militia type group, they are the green on the map. The "AK" is actually exclusive to their faction, it shoots 7.62, instead of 5.45 like your AK-74. They also have their own MG. FIA wears their own unique camouflage as well. Also I noticed that you didn't look into his clothes, you can do that. They usually hold a tiny amount of medical supplies in their pants, and some mags for their Sa-58 in the shirt or vest if they have one. They didn't steal from friendlies, they just have Soviet equipment mixed in.
Like everyone else has been saying, DayZ was an Arma 2 mod.
Xbox has had access to this game since launch. Most of the smooth brain console players that just arrived are the PlayStation players, give them some time and they won't be so smooth brained. Also PlayStation players can't play modded servers... Yet.
Driving is easier on console imo. I asked around as well, and I wasn't the only one with this opinion.

The only problem I find with this game (and basically every MilSim out there) is that you either will spend 30 minutes running alone through the map, not seeing anyone, not firing a single shot just to take a bullet from god knows where and do it all over again. Or you will be in some objective and take a bullet from god knows where just to respawn 30 minutes away from any other objective, no vehicles at all, just your legs to walk you through the huge map.
Maybe it's not for me, but I don't see fun in that.
