Love love love this keyboard. It has better, more expressive piano sounds than instruments costing twice as much (sustain is amazing). Composing is so much easier with a beautiful piano sound. Lots of other great voices, too, though there are some duds (brass and strings are crummy). The piano feel is pretty convincing too, though the action is even a bit on the heavy side and does not vary across the keyboard. Little LCD interface is the only really annoying thing. Highly recommended!
The S90 ES is still the heart of my studio. Just excellent sounds and synth engine. Only with electronic drum samples are getting a bit outdated now. ;)
It really depends on the intentions. Yes any keyboard with midi functions can be utilized purely for it's midi input functions. However, it does depend on the keyboard if you plan on inputting sounds from the keyboard onto what ever program your using. So if you're looking for more synth based sounds, you would use an Access Virus TI rather than a Yamaha s90es. Since the keyboard acts as it's own interface, you can record those instruments into your program & they would indeed be high quality.
This is still a top quality keyboard, I bet they cost a fortune on the used market. But it's cool that I at least have some of these same sounds within Halion/Halion Sonic namely the Halon 4 and Halion Sonic 3 factory library. What do the saxophones sound like on the Yamaha S90ES?
Great vid, but he's WRONG about what he said regarding where the Mega Voice tech comes from. It DOESN'T come from the Motif ES. I don't know if Yamaha tells their reps to skip over the truth about where mega voices are from, but they're NOT from Yammies synth line. Mega Voices were introduced with the original Yamaha Tyros (One of Yamaha's Pro Arranger Keyboards). Yamaha carried this this tech over to the Motif line from the arranger line (as well as other PSR voices too) and changed the names.
Comment does not appear, so I repeat it... The song is called Summerdance or so, it his. Hes been my teacher for years so i know him and love him^^ would like to start lessons again...As far as i know, you wont find summerdance anywhere on the web....shit happens. long live jens and yamaha DS
They aren't exactly comparable. The S-series are aimed at pianists and peformers while the MO6 and 8 are designed with the needs of electronic musicians and studio production in mind. It depends on what you need, really.
Es bien sencillo: este es un teclado de live, con un sintetizador recortado y sin secuenciador de serie, pero con mas samples acusticos y teclas contrapesadas. el MO8 es mas de estudio ;)
@Josephandalice however much the stick holds ex: 8gigs then you can have 8 gigs of midi files on there. I work with a 2 gig because midi files are usually about a tenth of a meg or just about 100 kb.
Anybody know when the new generation of this keyboard is coming out? I was going to buy this one.. but now I think I am going to wait for the new one.. please send me a message, it's important to me! Thanks in Advance!
Anybody know when the next generation of this keyboard is coming out??? I've heard sometime in June, but I'm not sure... Anybody give me a hand with this question plz, I appreciate it. Thanks in Advance.
agree~ the s90es has more effects and appegios and its cheaper~ it is the best time to get the ES now coz the XS just come out and ES 's price just dropped! i just got one :)
Does anyone know if they are going to make an S90XS. i am thinking about buying this board but i feel the newer generation of this ax is right around the corner.does any one have any facts?
Hello. Can someone help me. I cant decide to buy new Yamaha MO 8 for 1400 EU, used Yamaha S90 ES for 1900 EU or used Yamaha ES 8 with price 1600 EU. Primary use would be live performance, studio secondary. What do you recomend? I also have seen video how to put ES sound base on MO 8, so than would be cheaper to buy MO. How is hammer technick on MO? Sory for my bad English. Have a nice day.
1m45 is says that it has damper resonance which helps a lot with the sustain. but sympathetic resonance like on the kronos or the nord stage4 is not mentioned. I don't think so.
i know this is an old video but if you can reply it would be great. I reset ours at our church to factory default. It had some issues. Now how do I create piano/strings sound. its usually the main sound used on it. Or is it a preset?
I have this identical keyboard. Roland Fantom S88 on the blink so, I got this one from MFriend. EVEN after reading the manual, I cannot figure out how to play 2 voices simultaneously - he says it's "simple" - show us what buttons your engaging. Would like to play 2 voices WITHOUT overwriting any presets. I have spent HOURS and HOURS with this keyboard and I am EXTREMELY frustrated.
why always the piano players are so soft and gayish?... Look at the guitar players, they're badass... but keyboards players?...nah...really gay.......XD (of course this a joke) XDXD
Even though we’re in 2024, my Yamaha s90ES still an old faithful synthesizer that I’ve been using in church, live, and practice mode.

uno dei più completi strumenti creati da Yamaha!
S90 ES is designed for both. It's their best combination of piano and synth.
Also, I wished Yamaha would make Studio Manager 2 and its plugins compatible with current MacOS versions.

Una delicia el piano S700... para mí, el mejor piano de Yamaha

Agreed. Looks far better too, and you can expand with DX, VL, and AN boards for alternative, non-sample based synthesis methods.
Awesome sounding piano! I love Yamaha!
Still my go to don’t need no new candy coated latest and greatest.
✌️👍👍👍

long live jens
and yamaha
DS
I just bought one of these ... but it hasn't arrived yet!
I'm getting it very soon 🙏🙏
What do you think about this vs the moxf8
Yamaha made the piano samples available for the Motif XS8 in the Loyalty Sample pack.
They aren't exactly comparable. The S-series are aimed at pianists and peformers while the MO6 and 8 are designed with the needs of electronic musicians and studio production in mind. It depends on what you need, really.
야마하 S90es 소리 너무 좋습니다
갖고싶은 건반입니다👍

It's more portable than the Montage8, cheaper than the Montage8, it's looks more professional than the Montage8.
I love how nobody is talking about the recall
Anybody know when the new generation of this keyboard is coming out? I was going to buy this one.. but now I think I am going to wait for the new one.. please send me a message, it's important to me! Thanks in Advance!

Actually, he's German, not Dutch, though I can see why you would think he was Dutch from the name and accent. Very good demo.
do the new software programs work for the original s90?
I wanna know how do I record a solo on the piano then transport the file to my comp?
Skwirblies. Awesome name
agree~ the s90es has more effects and appegios

It's good that they read it :)

El MO8 es una teclado menor que el ES8. Y el s90ES es igual que ES8.
Ve a yamahasynth(Dot)com.
what´s the difference? I want to buy one :)
Does this synthesizer have piano simulation effects such as sympathetic string resonance? I know it has the effect of half a damper pedal.

Here's an additional link. Pdf manuals are contained in both
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_S90
Now I know how did Tyler Joseph made all those songs...
The S90 ES of course...but also depends on your needs. I believe the S90 is Superior.
so why is the S90XS like 2X the price?
@simon4tw very good sir
Looks like this is better than the motif es. I don't like bulit in seqs...
Good Bro...! Ian C.
the beginning sounds like a morning talk show
ROCKIN 😍💗💢👍👍
Why don't Yamaha integrate these quality piano samples into Motif XS??
Motif has more than this keyboard except for the killer pianos of it.. : (
@simon4tw
That is an amazing deal. I'd buy it.
@prodigio1978 Yes only piano, but nothing else....
they don't have inbuilt speakers
Yeah? How so?
All the Situations :D
muito bom o som do piano!
mas esse cara falando me dá sono....
Someone make a comment with substance about how the ES is better please.
its the same thing, even better, only thing the es90 has better is lo0ks
what kind of speakers should one use to hear the good sound it offers?
JBLs, Harman-Kardon, Peavey, Marshall ....for keyboards
And*
@reservedacosby Roland all the way.
Ur fucked
