So, Trex Arms Made a Chest Rig

- It's a rig, it holds mags, and it does so fairly efficiently, nuff said.
Also please do not call this a sustainment rig. There is no difference between this and a micro rig in terms of sustainment.

It's like learning Napoleon was average height for his day, all of his generals were just giants.

Are you saying that you learned new facts about Brass?
is it cause he looks asian kinda? brass, you got some asian in you?
I remember seeing hop in person for the first time at shot show, I was like oh fuck he’s WAY taller than he looks on camera. Seen him in passing a couple more times at other shows, still forget he’s a giant 😂
I do agree that chest rigs is meant to be worn with a Rucksack or assault pack. The big buckles on the T.Rex Arms Quad rig will create uncomfortable hot spots.
Well they only do the flat range speed drills sooooooo
Just add the wise men company hx hybrid harness
Ballers on a budget should grab a defective OCP TAPS rig from venture surplus 👀

Yeah, 3 columns of molle on each side is much more useful than the 2 columns the Recce Rig offers.
@@mysteryman33333 funny how such a tiny thing makes it noticeably different in practice
I have the recce rig. The three rows of molle would be ideal although while wearing a pack if I utilized all 3 rows there would be too much bulk and it would interfere with my pack straps (5' 8"). It's also possible to mod nylon with a sewing machine and if I really need more I could expand it. The recce rig also has a lower profile back strap especially if you trim the excess webbing.
Expanders filled the issue for me, not thatvthat should be mandatory, got to use both, I. Still prefer the onward
@@BrassFactsany recommendations for pouches that use 2 columns of molle and would work well for the onward rig? Preferably ranger green.
You and Hop's chemistry is internet gold.
Nice to see a trex arms product in a video without the color washout filtering
can barely recognize it.
“…while I cling to any Vestibule of my dying production quality…” 😅
(now picturing Brass Facts clinging to a vestibule)
Right now my favorite setup is a haley micro with their insert, running 1x of their expander wings with double mag pouch and flatline mini dump on weak side, arbor arms med nut ruck on tubes, and lunar hx harness. It looks asymmetrical but it works and carries everything i want on me instead of in the pack for weight distribution purposes. On my trim 5'10 frame it is narrow enough that there is nothing interfering with arm swing or pack straps
The Eagle Industries SOFLCS multi-Purpose chest rig V.2 maritime is the only chest rig you’ll ever need.
Mine was issued as a SWCC, but for $250 you can get one on a third party marketplace. I’ve never needed something more or less. It fits every space.
Slick
Over slick plate carrier
Works as a 4 panel, a split rig, holds 12 mags before adding pouches by molle, and each panel has a 3x3. This thing has a double mag pouch 4 panel that you can run single 308 mags in too. Keep two GP pouches at home loaded up, and keep the rig slick in your car. When you get home you can add the GPs to make it a sustainment rig. It also comes with a double mag pistol pouch/multitool, and flashlight pouch. In addition, three small GP pouches that are perfect for compasses, headlamps, zipper wax, Chapstick, etc..
Doesn’t get more versatile than that.
I bought two safe life defense hyperline lvl 3a 5x7 panels that fit in the rig just fine… its a tiny amount of armor, but for $100 I have 20% torso coverage vs 0% at .29 lbs / panel. That panel stops 44 mag and 357 sig… worth it
I went with the barrel and hatchet just so be able to build it from scratch but I think, with enough money, that AVS system would be preferable. Honestly the never ending search for the perfect chest rig will probably never end for most of us. Also, for my FELLOW SMOL BOYS the HX harness is nice for any rig.
chest rigs are this decades holsters. You have 20 of em
How tall are you
ATS chest rig with triple USGI surplus mag pouches is the way. Same footprint as the Trex chest rig, just trading one double mag pouch for one more molle column each side, giving six mags up front and 4 columns of molle each side.
Ats makes some great stuff, they just don't advertise enough to be trendy.
Agreed. ATS is surprisingly good, especially as affordable as they are.
Never knew ATS existed til Gurwitch mentiones them. Now I have their 4x1 slim chest rig and will be doing a more overt rig with some British Osprey pouches here soon.
This is why I watch TB reviews I was really torn between this and a spiritus rig and I think imma go with the spiritus thanks to y’all!👌🏼💯
I just use shock cord on my back straps to get some elasticity. Tie off one end to the male buckle and the other end to one of the triglides while leaving some slack in the strap in between to get the stretch. It is a little annoying to set up but cheap to do while keeping the strap minimal for use with backpacks.
I love these chest rig vids. Be interested to see your take or hop’s on the helikon-Tex chicom.
Parashooter Gear makes elastic adapters for those basic non-T-Rex lower back straps. Comes in a pack of three (they can also be used with some H-harness straps) for $20 and replaces a male swift clip.
I had the Crye airlite rig while on a course where we used the PRC152, a very big radio. The Crye rig has these radio pouches that are heavy woven elastic sewn to the front panel of the rig and it was surprisingly conformable with a relatively large radio. The pouches could also be adjusted in size to fit magazines more easily as well

Cute how the pupper got up to check on you when you started dying at the end
This was the first thing from Trex arms I actually was convinced to buy, I'm not disappointed. I don't have an Onward Research rig, but from what I have seen this one is an incremental improvement on it in most regards.

@@richardgalope1526 assume patrons/members/blah w/e get early access. RUclipsrs queue up videos like dominoes. They have to. Early access is the most standard form of perk for those people.
The concluding dog chewing scene adds a lighthearted touch to the video. More importantly, looks like US FLC demonstrates its strong value proposition. Its configuration with two front-end triple M4 pouches, two 1-quart Nalgene Oasis water bottles (one on each side), and a rear-side admin pouch for day-consumption energy bars, meets the essential combat/survival requirements, delivering functionality and affordability in a single package.
I got mine a few weeks ago and I like it a lot. It has a lot of capability, and gives you a lot of options for pouches. However, it is VERY easy to fall in the trap of “I have MOLLE I must use it.” If you do that, the next thing you know, you have a chest rig that is very front heavy, and awkward to wear. That’s one of the perks of the OR rig i think- it limits your options a bit so you can’t do that, and makes you put only the essentials on the rig, and other less important stuff in the backpack. This is something I have to be mindful of, and perhaps it’s worth reminding others who are on this journey as well.
i got one of these on their black friday for a bundle. its currently replacing my 556 hybrid from velocity. mainly i like this for a few reasons and that is the fact that i can run every single mag that i own in here. like 556 ak mags. also being able to attach dangler is a plus as well. so far its working really well but it wont keep me from selling my old rig.
How’s you like that hybrid rig?
Thank you for the video. I hope that they will come out with a Wolf Grey version and a Ranger Green with black hardware.
I’m 5’7” and I got this rig it’s been nice so far. I’ve got a shorter torso that most I haven’t tried it but I don’t think a dangler will work with a hip belt from a backpack. When you put the ride height all the way down the length of the strap messes with the map pocket not that big of a deal. Good rig though. No real complaints.
Would like to see test out a TAPs and FLC setup from venture surplus.
I'm pretty happy with a slick Taps fused with a condor hydration carrier for back H harness. And flcs for "buddy" rigs.
You do have a little front side ride adjustment; you can drop the QASM down at least one loop if not two. Its not a huge amount but it would get you the same reach as the comparison rig
4:11 "vestibule of dying" sounds like some D&D architecture black magic shit.
The SAW Rig from Sewjourn Gear , one of the most thoroughly thought out multi use carriers that most people never heard of before...context is key...just my $.02
That might be true, but at over double the price for a bunch of doodads most people won't use, and a harness system that isn't swiftclip compatible, it's a tough sell.
Been waiting for this review. Im using the radio pouch for cat tournicates with 550 cord pop ups, Just wish the mag flaps were adjustable as i like the 40rd mags,
I love watching new gear videos knowing I’m perfectly content with what I have. It gives me an elitist feeling knowing that there are people who spend money on gear like people do with shoes and clothing brands
Finally some decent surplus, referring to the sponsor.
All my local shops are full of Chineseium
Side note I enjoyed your cameo on nine hole’s pick one episode.
it seems like they were like eagle mag pouches are cool, lets put them on a thing. I've been looking into hiking material used in ultralight gear and it seems like we could be making tougher lighter chest rigs with new materials and I am unsure why that hasn't been really done before I know some poly ripstop impregnated with rubber exist but what if we started moving into figuring out how to get rigidly and light strong materials.
Side note - If you want to store one mag in a pouch for rapid access in this rig, all you have to do is roll up the flap behind the mag (roll up flap inside pouch, insert one mag) and you'll get good retention and quick access. Trex showed this in one of their vids on their second channel. It works quite well.
I do it in the footage like every other shot.
It's fast access, it's not good retention though. Not on the double pouch styles.
@@BrassFacts Hmm, I'd say its good retention for what it is though. Obviously its no kywi esstac that's for sure. But unless you're jumping around a lot, that mag really isn't going anywhere. But this is based on how they demonstrated it in their vid. They rolled it up like a fruit roll up, tucked it in, and that mag was nice and snug, no flop. I hear what you're saying though, technically that's not great retention, but for a double pouch design its not bad at all.
@@BrassFactshow is the retention compared to the recce rig?
@@BrassFacts Alright so I rewatched the footage and I think I see the problem. So you have to literally roll the flap up like a fruit roll up in order to get better retention. If you just tuck the flap in without rolling it up like a fruit roll up, the magazine will be loose and flop around.
@@BrassFacts i like putting a 20 round mag behind the fast mag reload so that there is enough room to grab the top of the magazine without interfering and theres enough buffer to offer adequate retention. the 20 rounder will definitely need a pull tab to get it out tho
Your dog is amazing. My whippet would love him.
I’m waiting for the TRex tactical jeggings.
Brock, you mentioning Kommando Store unlocked part of me I had completely forgotten about. Woooow.
Kommando Store usually has good stuff. Their email list is worth being on just for limited supply drops.
me looking over at my early 2000s blackhawk chest rig. looks like you're cool again little buddy.
My first suggestion to Komamando Store was to offer an H-Harness for the P84. They said theyd look into it.......
Also suggested making it in nutria colour like the P83, but one can always darken multicam.
Me with a tap chest rig I borrowed when I left the marine corps 🫡
I would like to see more split front stuff, someone make a modernized LBV-88 and I will give you money.
Heyo, brass. You left out the sleeper of minimalist flap chest rigs. LBT’s new minimalist is super modular and converts to LBE and/or ATAK-capable attachment. It’s excellent. Check it out.
I like their quick rig thing, already had a plate carrier Lol
My palatatac has been amazing so far, holds everything I need.
Come for the chest rig autism. Stay for the doggo getting scared by coughing.
Clearly, @brassfacts is an intelligent and interesting guy. And I'm happy for him having a devoted audience because these videos are informative to a segment of the population.
But, I hear faint rumblings out there in my community of combat vets.
However, I'm enjoying the Brass Facts presentations.
They're slick, well produced, and contain useful info. So, sit back and take on what's useful and expel what's not.
Overall, good shyte.
the main use for a chest rig is when on reconnaissance patrols, where noise discipline is absolutely paramount, so all the pouches being velcro is just a no go
Beautiful sunset 🤩
I just bought a TAP for like 30 bucks instead. It works fine.
When I get out of school i wanna make an Excel spreadsheet of all gear with a decent rating + surplus gear. Maybe make it public too... theres just too many rigs, carriers, attachment types n shit. Holding a job with 6.5 classes isnt viable for me unfortunately.
Being 6 ft5, this will be hell without adjustment options :/
You need to be unemployed to make a spreadsheet??

I'm not one for rucking, so I missed the back strap issue. Still, for the few nitpicks you were able to find, it doesn't seem too difficult to work around them. Not sure if the harness can be set to Lurch height, probably easy to do with a short piece of webbing with two fastex buckles on it. For the radio, all else fails, you can snip the radio pouches off and use your preferred expander wing.
Any of you guys looked into belt kits, yet? For rucking/hiking oriented training, they're awful hard to beat for the mix of capability/mobility.
I really don't think belt kits are any good. Very limited carrying capacity, limit the usage packs
@@BrassFacts Have you played around with any of the dedicated webbing sets? For what y'all are doing, it really looks like you'd get the most use out of a Brit-style LBE, chest rigs really shine for working indoors and out of vehicles. If you haven't had the chance to mess with one of the british webbing sets, they're really good for adding a pack or ruck, provided you put a little thought into it. Decent PLCE kits can be had fairly cheap, too.
They're intended to have a ruck ride on top of the rear pouches in lieu of a waist belt, which does limit pack choice, but that's the trade off for being able to carry much more weight on your person without hindering your mobility the way you would if you had all that weight on your torso.
Capacity isn't awful, they're made to carry a full combat load and 24 hours of sustainment, along with whatever pack you want to put on top.
I'm planning on ordering a loaner DZ-rig from Crossfire, let me know if you'd be interested in trying one out.
A comment for the algorithm 👍 Keep it up, your efforts tickle my fancy.
will do, glad you like it.

Parashooter Type 81M or Type 56M are easy go-to options as well
another exciting review for a product I won't buy because my existing thing is good enough. looks neat though
I bought it a couple months ago and it’s my first one. I’m content with it. It works. Don’t buy it if you have something that already works. Otherwise, go get the T-Rex chest rig.
Btw I also got it with an industry discount so that may skew my opinion.
Have one of these with a wise men co hx harness, their gp pouch (both are worth the cash) with the trex bottle pouch and its the best rig out imo
Tres rig or recce rig? I just want mags water holder and a pouch to throw stuff in
Brassfacts Friday 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've bought stuff from Venture thanks to you
There was a lot I liked about this rig, but I returned it. With two mags in the pouch the flap barely reached over the get enough velcro purchase to secure it. Also, the velcro was VERY weak.
I need to learn how to make sewing patterns. I have an idea for rucking pack, but right now I dont have a way to bring it into reality >.
I’ve never worn a trading bra and don’t know how the p84 chestrig compares? Please elaborate Fass Bracks
Pattern 84 is nice
I'd absolutely love a chest rig like this (or placard) that could take double AK mags. Not all of us run AR's
What about the blueforce gear ten speed m4 chest rig?
Years ago I got a classic Eagle MPCR for like $150 before they seem to have disappeared from the market. Put an Eagle canteen/GP pouch on either side of the mag pouches and I was good to go. I think those rigs are great but are probably going to be over priced collectables now
I really like my Onward Research RECCE rig…a lot. If it didn’t exist, I’d own this one.
Gotta say the Recce rig just feels right.
11:25 Backstrap from Trex is my issue as well (for another chest rig)… it’s just so big w/o easy adjustment - especially if the chest rig is that wide around your waist. 12:20 What is the brand of the small elastic back strap? Did not find it online for “Lunar Concepts”.

On eBay, someone makes a Rhodesian inspired chestrig for like 50 bucks. Seems cool.
Like all chest rigs the T. REX Arms quad flap rig is not perfect. It is well made and it pretty packed with options for the end the user. The one thing I absolutely did not like was the horizontal backstrap. Not a big deal though as this can be easily swapped out. I still prefer my velocity systems hybrid for my purposes but the T. REX rig is a very solid option.
Which radio won't get me kIA by a drone as soon as i press the 'talk' button?
Man I bought the TAPS from venture surplus and added some pads to the shoulder straps. Able to add whatever to the molle in the front and is durable and is way better than the quad slap, I mean quad crap, no it’s quad flap.
I personally lean towards that style as well
