Hi, welcome to Dog Lore! Here we love dog facts and often make mashups of top dogs battling it out for the best task at hand, or just the best cute pet companion you could ever ask for. Every dog breed is examined and we hope you learn something from every video!
Definitely a contender for man's best friend. This is one dog that can do it all happily, guard, hunt, be apart of the family. German Shorthaired Pointers are proficient in hunting on land (bird dog) and in water with the energy to never stop even in those long sessions, this dog will never let you down.

I have hardwood floors - his hair never was a problem, no it does not really stick to clothing and from smooth impervious surfaces is very easy to clean. However - A GSP is a commitment of a lifetime - it is not like other breeds. With so much finessing from the breeders the dog is not only an ultimate athlete and sportsman but also a most humanized partner. You must love him and count for him like for a human if you want him to bloom and develop in full. As rough is on the outside as soft is inside - has a gentle spirit and a very receptive mind - this breed should never ever change owner and they should never be in a shelter or abandoned. So considering a GSP think as having a child - there is no way back, or it should not be, to the least.

Not as much as a Labrador but the hair is coarse and sticks in clothes and furniture. If you’re debating getting one the high energy’s no joke if your not prepared to run on then pass

A long tail looks crazy. Ruins the dog

I disagree. I think it’s appalling to dock it’s tail. In UK law, tail docking is considered mutilation. Yes, I know some people think it’s necessary for the breed, however it’s not done for English Pointers, which are very physically similar to the German Shorthair Pointer.
Aside from that, just want to say, our GSP was the BEST DOG EVER. Smart, beautiful, funny, sweet, loyal, and very, very loving. We miss her.

Absolutely true. And also, the docking should be done by certified specialist, to the exact length. It is equal to a crime to chop it off to a terrier-tail. The GSP tail is like a Morse cod emitter. When at work, the tail-Morse code remains the only communication to you - if it's docked right.
