The Mitsubishi Zero was a full aluminum monoplane it had an excellent radial engine, but the fatal flaw of its design was it lacked self-sealing fuel tanks. When taking enemy fire most planes the fuel tank had rubber membranes that would stop leaks if the tank was shot. The zero didn't have this so if the tank was hit the fuel would leak out and sometimes catch fire if the bullets were incendiary. Was equipped with a pair of 20mm cannons. They had a tendency to jam.
The Japanese were also looking to target aircraft carriers at Pearl Harbor, which were not present at Pearl Harbor. It's one of the reasons why the US were able to spring back fairly well. The Zero was very light and maneuverable, and the US didn't really have many answers to the threat until towards later in the war. Since you have the PS2 emulator up and running, you should look into Call of Duty Big Red One, PS2/Gamecube/Xbox's version of CoD 2. It was the first Call of Duty games I remember playing. It did take place mostly in Europe, but I think there is a mission or two in Tunisia/North Africa.
Theres 5 north african missions. First four are on the ground (one of them being a tank level) and the last one is in the air aprroaching North Africa.
This game along with Frontline, probably has thee best WWII game main menu music of all time. I love how Rising Sun's theme includes eastern themes alongside its US/WWII sound.
European Assault soundtrack is amazing, my favorite of the series. There's also a good show called The Pacific, same creators of Band of Brothers. I gotta thank MoH for getting me into army stuff, movies, tv shows, the history, etc.
This game single handedly opened the doorway for me into learning more about WWII. Although this game is several years old, it’s a shame they never follow up the story after Rising Sun.
Speaking of Yamamoto, I had once visited his Mitsubishi G4M crash site in Bougainville, Papua New Guinea and speaking of Pearl Harbor, apart from Zero fighters, there are also Aichi D3 Val dive bomber, a carrier based dive bomber which in fact had it's design influenced from German Ju 87 Stuka and about an 30 minutes before attack on Pearl Harbor, Japan invaded Malaya(today Malaysia) which they launched an amphibious assault at Bachok Beach, Kota Bharu and it is one of the most bloodiest battle of Malayan Campaign
I remember you speaking about the Battle of Midway and how it was a crucial victory during this time. I appreciate when you talk about important points in history and how it relates to the game.
I've never heard of this game before, although I did hear of Medal of Honor (2010) and Warfighter (2012, people hated it). But I'll definitely watch this.
I had good memories of metal of honor rising Sun when I was younger, the nostalgia is strong with this game,I played it on Nintendo GameCube when I was 12 or 14,I don't remember Good memories...
The Medal of Honor series was a real OG WW2 shooter, thank you for showcasing this on your channel. Hopefully you plan on playing European Assault, and Allied Assault as well.
One of my favorite army games of all time! I remember playing this on my PS2 when I was little. I'm still sad medal of honor rising sun part 2 was cancelled. And it leaves off a cliffhanger. And professional you should play the brother in arms series. It's so good!
btw for those who don't know that the samurai clans from the Sengoku Period some clan fought and served in World War 2 and survived to this day names such as Shimazu, Date, Oda, Mori, Tokugawa, Sanada, Hosokawa, and Uesugi these clan are very fascinating and these clans still live on to this day.
Man I'm going to enjoy this series. Gotten nostalgia and this game still gives me goosebumps. Haven't played this game since 2011 before I got my PS3. Now even better with Pro's knowledge on this. I'm in for a treat.
So good to see a childhood game of mine now I get to see what I never got see when I was a kid it was my friends copy and I never got past Pearl Harbor from what I can remember
All those weekends I spent playing co-op with my brother as a child... This takes me back. Thank you for this upload, Pro. Brought back some great memories! ❤️
@The Professional I am very truly happy to see you play one of my teenage aged games I used to play when I was in high school. This game deserved a sequel as well as COD Ghost, but that's a different story. They could have done more and it fell flat. This game always made me cry and get teary eye from Pearl Harbor to the letters from home and so forth. This game was severely underrated and definitely under appreciated. Thank you for your hard work and for bringing one of the greatest classic Medal of Honor games back to life.
A favorite from my childhood and one of the most memorable missions ever. Frontline remains my favorite though of all the Medal of Honor games. All these games had amazing soundtracks too!
Man this is epic my great grandpa was actually at pearl harbor when it was attacked he was in the army he earned 2 purple hearts during ww2 and he fought in the pacific dude was such a beast
The game also takes you to the Philippines. Older naval vessels like a majority of the battleships present at Pearl Harbor had to have men manually close the bulkhead doors on later battleships and other large naval vessels they would put in place systems that would allow remote closing on bulkhead doors. Most of the battleships at Pearl Harbor were vessels built during the late 1910s and early 1920s. Of all the vessels sunk only one ship was deemed unrecoverable was Arizona because the blast from the magazine exploding took off the bow of the ship all other vessels were recovered repaired and fought throughout the war. Oklahoma was capsized but flipped back upright and refloated and sank under tow to be scrapped. The targets of the attack were aircraft carriers, but they were out the day of the attack. The attack was deemed a success by the Japanese naval command but was not as impactful as they were planning it to be. They also had a pair of midget subs lurking near the port's entrance. One was believed to be destroyed by a destroyer the other washed up on shore with the entire crew dead, had suffocated due to CO2 buildup. The pair of vessels were there to attack any vessels attempting to flee.
I played this on the PS2 as well. I played it a lot and eventually unlocked most of the videos that were in the special features. All without the help of the internet, well maybe gaming magazine. This was a fun game with a great story and I got inspired to read more about WWII!
I like all the history facts that you talk about during the gameplay! Makes it both a game channel and a history channel. You've earned yourself a new subscriber I've never really played any of the console MoH games, but Medal of Honot Allied Assault was one of my favorite shooters as a kid. Would recommend to play it if you haven't already!
The japanese attack on Imperial russia took place in 2 locations at Port Arthur and Chempulo Bay both located in korea in 1904. The russian navy had to scuttle the fleet of Battleships and gunboats to prevent them from being captured. Only the submarines and destroys escaped to Siberia. the japanese lost 2 battleships and 1 gunboat to naval mines.
Tojo was Prime Minister of Japan, most military decisions in the war were made by him and a group of naval and army generals. The emperor Hirohito was essentially held hostage by his own military.
Not necessarily. For example Emperor Hirohito signed documents allowing Unit 731’s experimentations . He was the one in the end who forced the Japanese generals to accept surrender . His role was similar to King Louis the 16th during the French Revolution . King Louis could have stopped all the problems in France which were being caused by the aristocratic elite but did nothing . It then led to the famines and eventually the revolution . Hirohito did nothing to stop the atrocities the Japanese navy and army had done .
A relative of mine who was a distant cousin was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was stationed on the USS Arizona and he and his friend went to town for breakfast. When they had gotten back, their ship was already sunk. He passed away years ago and I never met him. My grandmother on my father's side was also a full-blooded Japanese woman who was still living in Japan during that time and she told my father that the Japanese civilians also did horrible things to the allied POWs due to them surrendering rather than dying. They spit on the POWs and beat them with things like bamboo sticks.
16:53 The USS Arizona explodes at 08:06AM after a bomb penetrated the forward armored deck near her number 2 turret, landing in the forward magazine room, which later caused a magazine explosion. The explosion was so powerful that it caused the forward turrets and conning tower to collapse downward some 25-30 feet and the foremast and funnel to collapse forward. She split in half and sunk in the harbor. 1,177 of the 1,512 crew members were killed, including the ship's admiral, Isaac C. Kidd.
I remember watching my aunt and uncle play this game back in the day. When I inherited the game a few years ago I remembered some of the places my uncle went to for the extra objectives(he was a completionist). This video inspired me to plug in the ps2 and replay the game again
Man I used to play this game with my brother when I was a kid and god damn it was fun, we laughed so much on the multiplayer and the melee attack on the bazooka was so funny
It's amazing that you chose Medal of Honor: Rising Sun. You should definitely play the four prior titles on your channel when you get the chance. MOH 1999, Underground, Allied Assault (plus it's expansions), and Frontline were all masterpieces. Hell, still are. They are definitely some of the best titles in the FPS genre.
Yesss! I'm so happy to see you play this, the medal of honor series on the ps2 was my childhood, it's such a coincidence too I just ordered this to try and play it again.
Professional, you just took me down to memory lane. This was one of my favorite games while growing up! It was my dad's when he had the PS2. He also has MOH: Frontline & European Assault. Keep up the good games man. RESPECT ✌️✌️✌️
I remember playing this part when I first got this game and trying to take down every single plane that came by, and then I saw the USS Arizona get bombed to hell... It was crazy! And it's also crazy this game is turning 20 this year! It's awesome you're playing this game, Pro! Just to let you know, there's an option for subtitles in this game (i always had them on because sometimes i couldn't make out what was being said).
Whats impressive is they similtaneuously invade South East Asia and attack Pearl harbour half an hour later. The coordination Japan had is really impressive.
I will say, there is Medal of Honor Pacific Assault on PC, which you can get from GOG, and the experience from the pearl harbour attack is different to this mission on this game
I had the privilege of playing that one during my teen years, and if i remember right, some of the music from Rising Sun was in it too. I should try to get that game again.
I saw a scene from a movie and it was the bombing of Pearl Harbor. They showed marines being trapped and drowning. I don’t remember the name of the movie, but the beginning sequence reminded me of that scene.
Yamamotos quote of America after Pearl Harbor was awakening a sleeping giant is such a strong quote. At the time America seemed like it wasn’t planning on joining the war in Europe minus sending aid to countries. But with the attack America jumped into it fully, and it seemed fitting the nation that brought America to war was the last to surrender
My great grandfather was actually at Pearl Harbor (Albeit, he was in the Army) but yeah, part of me enjoys Medal of Honor's Pearl Harbor segments. Also nice USMC uniform, pro. Also, the Zero was the fastest plane of the war until the U.S Marine Corps began using the F4U Corsair
Also one of my favorites growing up, played allot of co op. My disc was scratched so only ever got so far, looking forward to seeing the missions past the point we couldn't.
I remember watching my dad play this back when I was 6-7. Going to love to watch the playthrough. I don't remember how to do it, but there's a bonus objective to save the Arizona.
I'm not a battle analyst, and probably never will be, but I'm happy to hear some sides I would not find favorable to win did things like Spread their troups thin, Like Japan and Germany.

Pure nostalgia! Loved this game back in the day...the intro sequence was such a memorable set piece and felt "next gen" at the time.
Also if you wanted to see Pearl Harbor attack in movie form. Watch the 1970 movie Tora Tora Tora! It’s actually amazing.
As a person who grew up on that island. This video hits home 😪. Still a good video and memory that a lot of us don’t forget. 💔
What is it called? Pearl Harbor?
@@kabardino1337 I saw that movie I thought it was Bs
@@bigdaddysbaked the added romance was too over the top for me lol 😂
I like how you gave us some mini history lessons while playing. I even just learned a few things that I didn't know about Pearl Harbor.
Man the intro is pure nostalgia for me. I remember playing it on the PS2, good times. Looking forward to the rest of the playthrough.

It's a good game from what I remember (story definitely is), but that might be nostalgia talking.
@johnweber80 And it was used back then when they used this sound for Lego war videos.
So many memories with this and COD Finest Hour

This is the kind of history I always enjoyed reading about
“I’ve been looking forward to this”
So good to see a childhood game of mine now I get to see what I never got see when I was a kid it was my friends copy and I never got past Pearl Harbor from what I can remember
I know nothing about this game, So can’t wait to watch!
It’s been years since I’ve played this and I remember ever second of it 😭🙏
This game brings back so many memories

I grew up with Medal of Honor, played it almost all the time with my dad, this one was his favourite
Thanks for that PS2 nostalgy. You are a hero.
This is the real Call of Duty game right here and I’ve spent so many hours playing this game as a kid good times 😢
Excited for this playthrough, When I was a kid I remember only ever playing the first level over & over again.
It’s been so long, and that “ship music” still haunts me to this day. I have always wondered wtf that was.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Pro would make a great history teacher.
The Medal of Honor soundtracks stay with me even all these years later. It's going to be fun watching you play through this childhood memory.
This game still holds it own despite it's age.

Flashback to younger days playing this. Keep up this amazing series

Yesss! I'm so happy to see you play this, the medal of honor series on the ps2 was my childhood, it's such a coincidence too I just ordered this to try and play it again.
I remember playing this game as a kid on my gamecube, this video brings back so many memories.
Definitely my favorite MOH game. Such an awesome story. Still remember Midnight Raid on Guadalcanal and Pistol Pete Showdown like the back of my hand.
The height of the Japanese Navy right here. The third strongest navy in the world during that time
Absolute classic. Let’s get it.
This game brings so many memories... I loved playing this as a teenager
Professional, you just took me down to memory lane.
This was one of my favorite games while growing up! It was my dad's when he had the PS2. He also has MOH: Frontline & European Assault.
Keep up the good games man. RESPECT ✌️✌️✌️
The cosplay is everything! Pro is so dedicated, it’s insane!

Back when EA made good games.
One of my favorite war games so good and underrated and love the story and plot and gameplay asp at the times this was considered great graphics
Love how I always learn something new with your videos.
i always enjoy your videos Pro. Especially the classics
One of my favorite games to play when I was younger. I would literally replay the first mission over and over cause it was so good
I will say, there is Medal of Honor Pacific Assault on PC, which you can get from GOG, and the experience from the pearl harbour attack is different to this mission on this game

I think i know which one you're referring to. The movie was simply titled "Pearl Harbor," and it came out in 2001.
The film was also directed by Michael Bay and became the 6th highest grossing film of 2001
Yamamotos quote of America after Pearl Harbor was awakening a sleeping giant is such a strong quote. At the time America seemed like it wasn’t planning on joining the war in Europe minus sending aid to countries. But with the attack America jumped into it fully, and it seemed fitting the nation that brought America to war was the last to surrender
Now this is a throwback. I remember playing this game as a kid
This brings back so much nosigia and the two games I played as a kid was 2005 call of duty 3 the big red one and medial of honor rising sun

The amazing music you mentioned whilst on the 50. Cal was also used used in the pearl harbour mission in a later Medal of Honour game…pacific assault
Man I remember playing this on the GameCube in my childhood... It came as a dual disc.
Japan: *Destory US ships*
USA: *Drops a sun.... twice*
Japan: Bro?! WTF?!
USA: This is for pearl harbor
Dude I had this on GameCube. It was so good.
I'm a bit late coming to this play-through but man, I remember playing this game when it first came out and the beginning just blew me away (pardon the pun). Probably one of my most memorable gaming moments. It's sad what happened to the Medal of Honor series but it's interesting to read into the history about why this franchise disappeared from the gaming world.
I love this game
Holy Shit! I decided to bump this game's theme along with Europe Assault and the first thing I see is this in my notifications box!!!!! Timing was crazy!
Good Time's Without any internet. 😀👍.
Yes! Let's go!
The Japanese also conquered East-Timor, which was an Overseas province of Portugal at the time, who were neutral. However, there was debate as to sending or not Portuguese troops to retake seized territory
24:20
Great nostalgia trip. Hope you do MOH Frontline soon. That’s my all time favorite MOH.
Good work professional
I loved this game especially after each mission you can read the letter his family sent him.
back when ea and other devs had respect and put effort in their games
i played this game on my Playstation 2 back when i was like 13 or 14 i don’t remember but good times i miss this game
A legendary game again!! Great outfit Pro!!! :)
