@@peeterl.2016 I wasn't there with him, so I can't tell you exactly where he was, but according to sources to Norwegian TV2 it was in Nordmarka, Oslo. I do however know with 100% certainty that it was not in Tromsø. The reason I know this is that the sun is below the horizon from end of November until mid January.
Last year I was driving in arctic circle near the Yukon River, Alaska, and passed someone bicycle touring south. The temp was around -30F According to someone we talked to at one of the very few truck stops, they were touring from Barrow Alaska to the south point of Chile. With around 200mi between truck stops in the northern section and their slow pace, they clearly had to camp between those stops. Training in -24C temps suddenly feels easy in comparison!
my Sunday 2023 season PENULTIMATE ride was a virtual 134.821KM 2965M monster in a "staggering" 5h 50m 08s - a peak career in metres climbed for a single ride + longest day in the saddle - ONE more ride to go before we dust off the jogging shoes to chase down WVA
DAN. Please help us out (GCN+ subscribers in the US). When you hear of any places to watch cycling over here (except Flobikes and Peacock). Much appreciated.
Ben O’Connor was in Perth for a bit more than a week, putting in some serious k’s throughout a week long heatwave. Makes me wonder if he’s climate training for the tour down under.
@@gcnracing He'll maybe get top 10, with some luck. Too much competition even for top 5 I think though. Maybe the Decathlon bikes will be the secret sauce to prove me wrong though.
on Sproza sports television, Thibau Nys will step out from racing for three weeks. He has announced that he has run out of batteries. What a pity. Is he under pressure, is he unable to manage victories? What do you make of this?
I mean he had a fairly busy road calendar and only stopped racing in the road close to the start of the cross season, on which he was on a really high level. That plus possibly a little bit of inexperience with managing his efforts (even tho he has some good mentors, am i right?) makes it almost impossible for him to compete at the highest level for the whole cx season
Do the pros get paid by Strava to share their performance info with fans and rivals? I can understand transparency during the season, make sure the numbers make sense, but winter training should be stealthy, I would think.
They do it because it really doesn't matter if anyone see it. All the pros have a trainer pr team of trainers with an idea of best practice and they evaluate every year and read science. And for the rest of us, what will we do with that information? Its not like we can do the watts they do anyways.
Its competitive intelligence to know the fitness of your rivals, know their strengths and weakenesses. They absolutely do not disclose their actual performance benchmarks. @@Southerngreeny101
@@Southerngreeny101 Thanks for your response and yes, that info doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, interesting to see if it is genuine but only a race is a race, only then does the power count for anything and everything. And I feel the same way about Strava segments on open public roads, let 'em be casual or social accomplishments but no more as they are not sanctioned events and so what if someone knows a great time of day to scoot up a climb. I applaud all for their personal accomplishments and sure it is nice to have some street cred but it is all supposed to be fun and recreation and healthy pursuits at the end of the day in the chalet.
When was the Tour de France 2025 routes revealed? I don't remember to see or hear Christophe Prud'homme announcing anything? Are you guys time travellers?!
It was just last week! you can check out our article here!👉www.globalcyclingnetwork.com/racing/news/tour-de-france-2025-grand-depart-avoids-cobbles-but-includes-punchy-climbs-and-potential-crosswinds
What is your winter cycling training? ❄
Cyclocross ofc
Road work on my winter bike, workouts at home.
Zwift - there Hit Blocks
Short indoor sessions to keep the intensity, strength training, backcountry skiing, running. And CX racing :)
Eating bread and chocolates, smoking cigarettes
Leknesund's ride was in the forests of Oslo, not north of the arctic circle (you can tell by the amount of daylight in the picture)
@@alamogiftshop sure, it's just 1700 km off.

- I live in central London.
- I though you lived in Switzerland, in Bern.
- I'd say it's close enough.
It hasn't been -25 in Oslo for a very long time. He did his ride close to Tromsø, in fact.

That is exceptional!
Swimming is my winter favourite training......😊

The orange turn is also amazing
Where will all the GCN+ content go?
The last sprint stage was 2020 when Alexander kristoff won the yellow Jersey
How does the modern pros winter training compare to Dan Lloyd’s winter training from when he was a pro?
This lot have nothing on Dan 😂... Great question though! We'll have to ask him!
'Wet snow' is what we call snow that melts upon landing, either immediately or very shortly after.
Not really. Wet snow is just snow with high water density. It has nothing to do with melting
Hmmm, I shovelled 10 cm of wet snow off the driveway this morning.
it would be great to see cameron get a win .
thumbs up for the "quaking race" 😅
👏
23rd Dec = "a must watch". And how exactly do we watch it? Australia for example...?
Seattle has been incorporating the Canada Goose in cyclocross for over twenty years
How do you watch the cyclocross races in Belgium? Do you simply go to the course or do you have to buy some tickets in advance?
day tickets are always available for 17 euro normally 15 euro in advance
XC skiing has been proven to improve VO2 Max by as much as 20% in a season on normal people in a study by Dr. Max Testa.

Does riding the 🛋 count?

They only share certain sessions, you can tell its not comprehensive. They do it to maintain a following and a 'personal brand'.
