- Part Three in a series of four clips detailing preparations for Mr Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse in advance of their 2018 US Winter Tour. It's a long one, so settle in with a beverage of your choice.
I've got one of the Zombie Drip Euros and I'll probably be buried with it. I love that bass so much, although mine still has the stock EMG electronics it shipped with I've never found another instrument that just sounds and feels exactly the way a bass is supposed to.
Epic work Mate
You like death metal??
Alex is the reason why I purchased my spectre. I need one of those speed ramps!!!
The ramp really helped my speed. Love mine.
Adam Rushka where’d you get one? Just custom made I’m guessing?
Yes, I had it made. Its a pain because of the curve of the top, plus you want to to have the fretboard radius
Adam Rushka seemed like an in depth procedure.
mike ler just takes patience, it’s not hard to do
I have the standard blood splatter bass and it’s absolutely amazing plays like a dream and I put in the dark glass tone capsule preamp and HOLY CRAP absolutely massive difference it cuts through in the mix
Your videos are very interesting !
Thanks Scooter
Zombie Deth - it's my sincere pleasure. Thanks for watching...
Yeah, you've got that fret-wear because Alex is an incredibly talented and versatile player hahaha ;)
I would love to order Alex's seymour Duncan's but the custom shop doesn't ship to the UK
I saw this bass in action this past Saturday night. Also got the privilege of meeting Alex after the show. Great down to earth guy.
Actually the whole band is very down to earth & friendly
Great video very informative
One thing want to ask, if u ever had the time would you consider doing video on how the make one of the speed ramps from scratch please?
I have always heard lind seed oil is the best too use.
What is the purpose of a speed ramp? I’ve never heard of it before & I’ve been playing bass for 28 years, learn something new everyday I guess.
There she is ! A# on a 5 string isn't bad but Im surprised that he's using a 125 for G#. Do the EQ pots on that Darkglass preamp have center detents ?
No they don't.
The Tone Capsule has center detents as the pots are boost and cut.
Ive had boost/cut preamps with no center detent.
I just love how this thing growls. Is it the Pickups, Preamp, strings or something different ?
Yes
@@Iheartdgd Yes ?
Spectors growl.
I'm curious which frequencies the high-mid and low-mid pots are centered on. They sound great and very usable!
Paul Sundberg - No idea. You'll have to ask Darkglass.
The zombie blood bass is my fav!!
Awesome great job and love your channel. I learned a lot from it. I had some trouble with my music man stingray 5 and took some steps from your video. Luckily I didn't wore out the frets like Alex's bass, so a Quick clean and polish was enough. Tenx
I own a Zombie Drip and out of my 4 Spector basses it's my favorite!! Thanks for the rad videos, Granville Guitars!
What did you use to secure the Tone Capsule PCB in place? I'm looking to get one and am concerned about damaging its components
I believe it comes with a piece of 3M double stick tape.
@@mythoflogic Cool cool. The one I've reserved may not have that cuz it s technically secondhand albeit unused but good to know 🙂
What the hell is a speed ramp?
It is a piece of material usually wood which is hand cut and shaped to fit precisely between the two pickups and used by the player to support the plucking hand.
Do Zombies have souls????
wow u work with all the top guy`s gear
Great video`s scooter,very interesting!
What trick are you using to get a consistent string tension between the 2 different tunings using the same string gauge? I have an Alex Webster sig bass and also use the 45-125 Hi-Beams.
David Jensen - There's no trick. The tension is a little looser on the lower tuning.
It's no big deal.
Wouldn't it be easier (both ease of work and the accuracy of the end result) to just use a leveling beam rather than trying progressive radius blocks on a compound radius board?
gryzew - First, this is not a compound radius. Second, I never use beams because I prefer to always work in radius. A sanding beam is flat and requires you to re establish the radius which removes more material and takes more time.
@@GranvilleGuitars thanks for the answer! Also if that's not a compound/conical fretboard by design, why the non-constant radius? Inconsistencies due to hand crafting or wood warping or something like that?
gryzew - There is no way to know for certain.
Bflat
ratboyninja - The Conn Strobotuner (the industry standard) references all incidentals as "sharp" or "#".
This is why I refer to the notes in this tuning as such.
In the actual musical world a note is "sharp" or "flat" depending on a given key signature.
So, there are no absolutes when discussing incidentals.

How does one get seymour duncan hammer smashed pickups and or do you sell speed ramps? Been trying to find both and it takes me back to a shop that ive called and got no answers.
From seymour duncan themselves it's a custom shop order
