If you modified it so the squares created a repulsive force, which evened out over time, you could keep this up for much longer, and will less,, noise. Basically like rolling a ball on a level table, and where the square goes, the table gets a little taller. The new boxes will likely gravitate towards the lower parts of the table, hence the longer video and more variability.
