"We aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. We're just trying to make a really nice one." You did. Well done, Riley. Rest easy. You will be missed terribly.
RIP, Riley. “It’s not about showing off. It’s about writing a strong song”. If bands take note of one thing, it should be that. Wise words for a metal community where the de rigueur is cramming as much technical shit in as possible regardless of what it does for the song. Power Trip was a distinct up and coming band. I’m going to miss them terribly. I haven’t felt like that about a band for nearly 20 years.
Couldn’t agree more dude. Riley was one in a million and when I woke up this morning and my wife showed me the news I was so gutted. Power Trip were a band that epitomised the Thrash and Metal ethos along with Hardcore really! I might have only met Riley briefly but I’m glad I got to see his wonderful spirit in person. Be safe out there man and be kind to everyone. This is a truly sad day 😔
Power Trip were starting to get noticed. It's still hard coming to terms with the fact that we're never going to get new Power Trip. Thankfully they graced with world with 2 masterpiece records. But they were just getting started. They had so much more to give. They had a long career ahead of them. It's a dark day for metal/music. It's a tragedy. No musicianship's death has affected like this one. It hurts. It's a tragedy that it has ended this way. 34 years old. Such a shame. The world has lost both a great front man and human being. Heart goes out to family, friends, and the entire Power Trip family. Could only imagine their pain and shock of it all. Rest in Power Riley Gale.
For all we know right now, they may yet decide to soldier on and pull an AC/DC. Gotta find the right person and its gonna be super hard, but let's not forget that there 4 other super talented dudes in this band, and I'd be happy to see them go on. Time will tell
@@griselame if they want a sound alike, they can call the cat from Lowest Creature. But my point is that its never going to be the same... whether they continue under Power Trip or not. Riley is an integral part to Power Trip, vocally and lyrically. Regardless of what Blake, Ulsh, Whetzel and Nick decide to do going forward im going to support them. It's just incredibly sad. Those 5 made something special together.
I totally get what you mean man! I love the fact that its such a solid sound for the band that they don't need the kind of smoke and mirrors of technical dazzling you know? The songs speak for themselves at the end of the day right? I'm so excited for a new album as well. Thanks so much for checking out the video and I hope that you enjoyed it. Also - love your username hahaha
Tragic that the world won't get to hear another Power Trip record. Nightmare Logic is a classic, and Manifest Decimation was pretty great too. rip Riley Gale.
Power Trip has somehow legendary status in this short time and I couldn't say otherwise. Immense respect for the band. Riley is the real deal. Gone too soon
Some of the best and most influential metal albums have been played with a single pedal. Rigor Mortis albums, Scum and FETO by Napalm Death, my favorite Bastar Priest (Swedish death metal) Slayer Show no mercy, Iron Maiden... Let everyone make their own decision! :)
Riley would have gotten to share the main stage with metallica at carolina rebellion or wutever they were calling it sad that never happened i still have my ticket. They didn't need dbl bass! They were as much a hardcore band as a metal band. Sad to talk about them in past tense. Rip good man!
Hey Kitty! It was the best right?! I loved every minute of it. Swing of The Axe at 1 in the afternoon on a Saturday, doesn't get better than that eh hahaha! Thanks for checking out the video and I hope you enjoyed it :)
Humble man and I like the fact the drummer uses single pedal, it is what made me want to check this band, was awesome to see the drummer from Warbringer filling in. Killer interview dude 🤟
They did indeed! I remember I think Venom Prison were on just before them, it was a pretty big double whammy! I'm not sure if its exactly that one but either way haha - I hope that you enjoyed the video though my friend and thanks so much for checking it out!
Can't wait to see these guys at Roskilde. Just came home from Copenhell last week and I'm kinda shocked that they didn't take a swing at bringing them in. Edit: I also absolutely, unequivocally agree with Riley that "less is more" is a mantra that soooooo much of the thrash being put out today needs to get tattoo'd on their foreheads. The Punk/hardcore strain of the thrash genome is all but gone in 95% of the bands playing right now, at I think it has resulted in the genre becoming so damn predictable and formulaic. Write shorter songs, put out shorter albums, you don't have to have guitar solos, and you don't need to sound like Slayer, Metallica, Exodus or Testament.
I have to say I am very much with you! Testament, Exodus, Slayer and Metallica all sound like themselves, we don't need MORE bands coming out and sounding like them you know? That's what I think is unique about PT's sound you know? They're such a killer, solid Metal band. Thanks so much for checking out the video and I hope that you enjoyed it my friend!
I don’t think double bass is flashy or showing off, it changes the sound significantly though, but damn would I love to hear a POWER TRIP song with double bass
Hey dude! Thanks so much, Jane Doe is one of my all time favourite records for sure. Its an absolute masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. Though You Fail Me is definitely a close second but thanks for the kind words my friend! I hope that you enjoyed the video, Riley is such a lovely dude as well. Are you a big Converge fan then? Oh and thank you for checking out the video!
Hey dude! Thanks so much for the kind words, I'm glad that you enjoyed the video! Riley is such a lovely dude and has so much to say. I couldn't think of a better ambassador of Thrash to be honest. Also love your profile picture, I used to do an anniversary series for MetalSucks where I look at classic albums and their anniversary's and Seventh Son was one of my favourites! Thanks again for checking the video out man
The Metal Tris Agreed, he’s awesome although I can’t believe I missed Power Trip at Bloodstock! And hell YES indeed, defo up there with my all time fav albums too... \m/ \m/
I think double bass isn't necessary . Single pedal is pure energy and Power Trip's drummer uses his single pedal vert well. Many bands use double bass but they loose all the energy .

Honestly, I never noticed there was only one bass drum. Just makes the music feel more special.

The Metal Tris it’s a pretty ironic name haha

I adore this man. RIP to one of the absolute greats.
Their drummer kicks ass! The perfect blend of thrash and hardcore...

I forget Rigor Mortis had no double kick, the whole purpose of the double kick is kinda served by Scaccia's tremelo
Love it, down-to-earth metal!🤘🏻🔥

Funny, was listening to the song Hornest´s Nest yesterday and missed the double bass pedal on that song
RIP Riley
May he rest in power. So gutted when I saw the news today 😔
@@TheMetalTris Me too!! Been watching nothing but Power Trip videos in his memory. He was an amazing vocalist! Much Love and Respect!

Regarding ripping their style; that could have been a direct reference to the band Lowest Creature.
Thanks man, never heard about Lowest Creature but after listening a song..... that rocks af.
Definitely not the first time they’ve played a main stage at a fest, they did it at Bloodstock in the UK last year.
