Magnezone is kind of a nutty card because if you squint it’s colourless, the volt charge ability on magneton gives you the one electricity energy you need to just keep feeding magnezone, really cool splashable and versatile card, see it alongside executor mex Tauros and those types of decks
Oh yeah you're right! Unlike some energy generating moves, you're guaranteed to get one ability-use every time. If only Volkner also included magnezone though, then you'd get to reuse your ammo!
I find it very funny Palkia's art has wild M. C. Escher Relativity stairs in the background, while Dialga is literally just doing the "Man" Horse staring into the distance meme.
Its immersive art reminds me of the renaissance painting "wanderer above a sea of fog" and I think that is what they were going for but I totally get the "man" horse meme angle
I thought the same about that Garchomp alt art but I imagine she’s just in Cynthia’s library since she’s an archeologist in addition to being the Champion of Sinnoh. I like it.
@ oh true, that makes a lot of sense! I need to go back and check what the library looks like in game since they often incorporate real locations into cards which I really like.
Spiritomb looks extremely crazy if you pair it with Weavile EX and Cyrus It looks so abyssmal for the opponent to start first, in the second turn you use spiritomb's attack and everything has 10 damage, and next turn you Weavile and start swinging for 70, and you can use cyrus to bring wincons to weavile and kill them
Shaymin has one very funny use. It completely counters Spiritomb’s 10 damage to your whole team, and will turn off your opponent’s entire Cyrus strategy for free.
Watching this 2hrs up to the next pack! Love to see opinions on cards and for some reason your videos always feel really great to watch lmao. It's so simple but idk, i quite like it.
I really enjoyed listening to this while at my work shift. I hope we continue to get these in the future! Love to hear insights into everything, and start to build up ideas of things I may wanna try to run, if I can pull them quickly
They might have made Infernape EX instead of a regular one because they wanted a fire-type EX that's native to Sinnoh. I hope Dusknoir can take excess damage onto itself, the evolution investment might be worth it if it can heal other mons for 200+ HP total.
43:37 I'm kinda baffled by Rotom Wash's existence considering that Water already has a 1 for 30 "big basic" in Pyukumuku which the only difference is 10 HP and 1 retreat cost which does not seem like a good trade. Especially since Heatmor and Hitmonchan are both 80 HP and 1 retreat cost for the same attack.
They could have made it weak to grass instead electric to differentiate itself a little more, but they made Heatran weak to fire so that would probably not happen. It feels so weird to get into TCG after being a fan of the mainline games for so long.
@@burdok4138 shoutouts to the Fire/Water Volcanion in the TCG proper that's weak to Water. Not only is Volcanion in the games not weak to Water, not only does it resist Ice, but it *has Water Absorb. It's always IMMUNE to Water.*

Giratina gets free retreat with ANY energy meaning you could throw it in any deck as a wall. The only problem being its a wall that can't do damage at all outside of Psychic decks.
Roserade unfortunately isn't too interesting just being a type swap of Tentacruel with 10 less HP, but it does (kinda) fulfill the roll of a 2 for 70 attacker that niche decks used a lot during Apex.
What's crack about Dialga ex, is that after metallic turbo, next turn you can Dawn & attach steel energy to Dialga ex to start cracking with heavy impact. Metallic turbo isn't exclusively to energy accelerate bench
1:57:04 Helmet would not proc against Greninja since it specifies damage by an attack, and Water Shuriken is an Ability. Though if it did work on damage via other sources, it would likely get into funny interactions such as activating in a loop against itself until the lower HP mon went down.
Infernape with Dawn is going to be so annoying to deal with. With just 1 benched mon with fire energy on it you can fire off 2 attacks in a row, so it will body low hp EX decks.
Giratina is a weird one, the bird trio all got ex version so space trio should be the same. It's ability alone is enough for ex worthy, just need higher dmg output like 100 or 120 and you're good to go
Your concept of using Palkia as a wall is so interesting, I always thinked of it as a last resort mon like Raichu, but you can wall and poke for 30s while you set up your strong mons on the bench and, if you use Vaporeon's aility to transfer some energies while it is walling you can get a crazy lead, it depends in when are you shifting from defense to offense and if you're going to do it with Palkia or the mon that is setting up in the bench
as nuts as bastiodon is and rampardos to a lesser extent if you've ever tried to play kabutops in the past you know just how impossible it is without any fossil support to get those guys out in a reasonable amount of time.
Lt. Surge can add energy to an active Electabuzz, so getting 4 energy on Electivire is pretty easy late game as long as you delay evolving it. 120 attacker for sweeping up after Pika Ex seems alright for Lightning decks.
Bastiodon stands out like a flair signal what the fuck. Mathematically it’s a 240+ health non-ex mon, half of the attacks it receives are completely nullified if your opponent can’t deal over 100 dmg and it can have infinite health if you’re lucky. Metal type stonks are up
Rhyperior unironcally makes pokedex worth having. You can at least check what youre throwing out before going unga bunga (For example, if you have professor oak and pokedex. Use pokedex first to see if the cards are worth drawing. If yes, use professor oak, if not just use the attack.)
Hold up, is that regular rotom actually really cracked? 70HP basic mon with a colorless 1 energy, 20 damage move that's conditionally stronger? And 1 retreat cost only. Sounds really strong in a fire deck to get around waters. Also I think Pachirisu EX works the other way around, it gets +40 damage as long as it is holding a tool, which I guess is 100% of the time ideally.

It looks like Togekiss doesn't even need to attack on the turn it's evolved/placed on the active spot to get the boosted damage the subsequent turns. You could hypothetically put it on the active spot with zero energy, put the 1st psychic energy on that turn and then put the 2nd psychic energy on the next turn and it will do 120 damage.
a bit miffed that spiritomb not only has a weakness, but has a grass weakness!! psychic could have been justifiable since fairy falls in that category but it would have been marginally neat to omit a weakness
um akhually 🤓 Bidoof's super fang says "halve opponent's hp, rounded down" so it should round down their hp, not your damage, so it can be anything between 20-30 and 100, if we take cape into consideration. sounds like a great tech card ngl
They really need to stop making cards like Abomasnow. Overcosted vanilla beatsticks are so boring. They’re appropriate when a game is its infancy but every card game quickly moves beyond that type of card.
I think the full art garchomp is cynthia's since she constantly researches the legends of sinnoh, or its a little coincidence and some artist really likes the concept of a dragon shark cat
Not a fan of how they've designed so many of the water mons to be reliant on Misty. We have Manaphy now but you're kind of praying the opponent leads with a Druddigon because of how squishy it is. I wish more water cards had Vaporeon's ability of passing around your water energy to conserve it instead. It gives water decks a more strategic, fitting spin on energy generation instead of "I flipped 4 heads on Misty gg"
Yanma is my favorite pokemon and i’m glad to see it added to TGCP; however, i wish Yanmega got some more interesting art like what a lot of the other EXs got
they really need to update some of these cards to have two attacks because it makes some cards 99% worthless if the conditions aren't met. regular Rotom for example, pokemon aren't going to have tools all the time and having a basic who's only attack does 20 damage isn't going to cut it. this is why in the real TCG there would be another attack for two energy that just flat damage or something like 30 damage for 2 energy. just my 2 cents
how is Leafeon stopping the opponent from attacking? It's attack makes it so Leafeon can't attack, like Frenzy Plant. it's actually +40 damage if Pachirisu has a poke tool attached, not the opponent
Listening to this video so as not to spoil myself on card art but couldn't help myself to check Bronzing because I knew it had to be Yuka Morii! Her clay models are my favorite
Yeah. Pachirisu is essentially 3rd or 4th Pikachu but unfortunately misses some break points unless the opponent attacks into an attached rocky helmet or something.
Dawn seems mandatory for Infernape ex to work well, allowing it to attack again next turn if energy is on your bench. It has a worse endgame than charizard, so I wonder if it’s designed to be more of a mid game monster. Infernape’s my favorite starter so I hope he’s got potential despite being Stage 2
If Darkrai EX's ability wasn't only with Dark but attachig any energy I would LOVE to try Dialga + Darkrai EX. That's 40 dmg to their active pokemon, from bench, every time you attack. And it'll buff your own 30 on Metalic Turbo to 70 each turn. Brutal. But, unfortunately because that doesn't work, i'll probably just be doing Dialga + Bastiadon or Darkrai EX + Spiritomb w/ Cape + Weevil
funnily enough i do think shaymin could be a bit useful against weavile ex trying to combo you since its thirty damage can be healed with a potion plus its ability without wasting erika early but like.. you're likely already running more of its weakness if you have shaymin lol
You are confused UNTILL you hit a heads on an attack or retreat. Same 50/50 as sleep that stays if you don’t “wake up” but also deals damage when you hit tails.
Apparently a confusion tutorial is already in the game, it says you flip for being able to attack but don't damage yourself if you get tails, it doesn't mention anything about trying to retreat so retreating might be free. And it doesn't seem to go away unless you retreat/evolve/lum
I think Infernape is going to be a good finisher for Blaine aggro, just trying to run the other guy over with MI Rapidash, Ninetales and Infernape. Conversely, I feel like Piloswine/Mamoswine are maybe supposed to be a check to that strategy but water is like the last deck that would need that, lmao
It's a shame that all the Rotoms (besides maybe the standard ones) are all so underwhelming. Also you probably heard this already but Pachirisu EX gets its damage boost from having a tool on itself, not on the opponent. So the reason you'd play Pachirisu over Pikachu is that instead of needing to fill up your bench, you can just slap on Giant Cape or Lum Berry. It also has 40 guaranteed damage anyways if you can't find a tool in time, unlike Pikachu which just can't do anything if it has to deal with an empty bench for more than 1 turn.
Potentially dumb question but how is Leafeon stopping the opponent from attacking? It's attack makes it so Leafeon can't attack, like Frenzy Plant.
I am the dumb one, I read it wrong
@@Bafael You did the same with Pachirisu, it's actually +40 damage if Pachirisu has a poke tool attached, not the opponent

yeah palkia's is a reference to the art of mc escher; dialga im not sure but it could be like a prehistoric kind of deal bc of the time aspect?
Dialga might be a reference to mystery dungeon explorers of sky episode 5 (kinda spoilers)

It also has 40 guaranteed damage anyways if you can't find a tool in time, unlike Pikachu which just can't do anything if it has to deal with an empty bench for more than 1 turn.
maybe new favorite bafael video what in the world is going on at the end lol.
i really wanna try pairing dialga ex with yanmega ex since its energy requirement is colorless
